Shinsou and Midoriya had noticeably gotten closer. No one knew what happened to get Shinsou to suddenly open up to Midoriya and accept his kindness. All they knew was something happened between the two and it triggered them to become friends.
Midoriya and Shinsou would occasionally disappear during lunch. That drew some attention and even stirred up some rumors about their relationship. Some believed they simply wandered off to eat lunch together or to spend time alone to talk. Other people believed they were dating and wanted to keep it a secret so they’d sneak off to be lovey-dovey.
Uraraka couldn’t lie, she got a little nervous at the thought of Midoriya being in a relationship. If he was, she'd accept it. It would take her a while to move on but she’d never risk losing Midoriya because of jealousy. Iida didn’t care at all, as long as it didn’t interfere with Midoriya's learning and training, then there was nothing wrong. Tsuyu was, of course, rooting Midoriya on. She was one of the people who believed Midoriya and Shinsou were dating or moving towards that. Todoroki was confused, he didn’t understand his jealousy and he didn’t know what to do with it. He planned on talking to Midoriya about it, he would be the most understanding out of the group about this. Besides, Midoriya helped him before, he could help Todoroki again.
Shinsou and Midoriya were the talk of the hero department and the general department. The General Department knew better than to stick their noses into Shinsou’s affairs. Class 1-A was another story, they had no boundaries and were ignorant when it came to knowing when to keep out of other people's business. Hence, why Midoriya considered himself the number one secret keeper in the class.
Midoriya managed to keep his relationship with All Might secret and the secret of his quirk even though it was so obvious. Like, it was kinda embarrassing. Although, passing down quirks was unheard of, and they don’t even really know about the depth of All for One and One for All. Either way, they didn’t even really care to understand Midoriya’s quirk, and they didn’t even flash an eye at the fact he shattered his bones every time he used it. No one knew anything about his past, such as the bullying. No one knew that Bakugo, the rising star of U.A., had bullied him. No one knew about the fact he never met his father and has no relationship with him. No one knows what All Might had said to him. No one knows he fought the sludge villain to save his back-stabbing childhood friend. No one knew anything. All they knew were the basics and Midoriya’s mannerisms. Yet, secrets only stay secret for so long when you tell someone them.
Todoroki finished up his soba quickly, quicker than usual. He stood up and turned to the others, “I’ll be taking my leave. I’m going to go look for Midoriya.”
Uraraka looked up at the dual-colored boy and immediately agreed to join him, “I’ll come too! I’ve been wondering where Midoriya disappears off to.”
Tsuyu grinned, shooting back her chair, turning her attention to Iida, “Let’s go Iida! I’ve been dying to know if the rumors are true! Besides, Midoriya deserves a relationship, and Shinsou is definitely worthy in my opinion.”
Iida shot up out of his seat after finishing up what was left on the tray, “Let’s go. I would like to congratulate Midoriya on his relationship status with Shinsou!”
Their lunch shift was 50 minutes and they had around 20 minutes remaining. It offered them a nice chunk of time to look for Midoriya. They stopped and checked 1-A, and then 1-C only to find they weren’t there. They then checked the rooftop where Midoriya often was found thinking or studying. He wasn’t there oddly enough. The only spot they could think of where food was allowed was the library. Making their way into the library there were a couple of students there, all studying or just relaxing. As soon as they were about to give up they heard speaking. Peeping through the openings between books, they spotted them.
Midoriya was aggressively flipping through pages frustrated. Shinsou was scanning through books and sitting them on a pile for them to list.
“Why are they covering this up? Everything from All for One to discrimination on the quirkless is being covered up! It doesn’t make sense!” ranted Midoriya, growing frustrated.
Shinsou stood up, staring at Midoriya with a soft stare. “Well, when we become heroes, we could use our platform to finally spread information.”
Midoriya bit his lip, closing the book. “See, uhm. We may not have enough time for that. All for One can literally attack at any given moment, and the public needs to be aware of him! He’s the mastermind behind all villains and there will be a panic. It just doesn’t make sense on why they-.”
Shinsou waved his hand in front of Midoriya’s face. “Hello? You good?”
Midoriya slapped the book closed, rubbing his face. “I’m an idiot. I just realized why they are covering up that he’s still alive, but what I don’t get is why they refuse to tell the story of how he rose to power.”
Shinsou paused, thinking to himself before an idea struck him. “His power was associated with the sudden appearances of quirks, right? So since there is the discrimination of the quirkless currently they try to not talk about him since he was the one stealing people’s quirks from them?”
Midoriya nodded, picking out a book. “Yes. All Might had told me when quirk started to appear some people couldn’t handle it, and it resulted in people shutting down and becoming zombies.”
Shinsou raised a brow, asking a question softly. “Why are you and All Might so close? Like— no offense but why would he sit down and tell you about hidden information?”
“Well, as you know I was a late bloomer. Quirkless up until entrance exams. All Might basically trained me after an incident we encountered together. Between you and me, I think All Might is preparing to fight All for One. I think he’s preparing for me to realize his career is coming to an end,” revealed Midoriya, his shoulders sagging as he finally vented.
“That’s... rough. I mean! It’s amazing he trained you and all but, now you’re in the middle of all of this. How long have you been keeping all of this to yourself?” questioned Shinsou, slowly worried for Midoriya’s mental health.
Midoriya grinned, sitting back down. “I never told anyone anything before. I trust you Shinsou. I know I can relate to you about discrimination and bullying. I know you’ll be an incredible hero and you’ve worked so hard for everything.”
Shinsou leaned on Midoriya, offering some comfort. “Still, you’re incredible. You managed to rise to the top with only what a measly 3 or four months of having a quirk? You literally shatter your bones and don’t complain while others in your class act like babies.”
“I think everyone in my class is great! They all have their strong suits built differently! They’ve all had different experiences and they all have different needs. Since I was physically abused growing up, my pain tolerance is a lot higher than others.”
Shinsou narrowed his eyes, taking Midoriya’s hand and tightly gripping it in a protective manner, “I swear—.”
Midoriya squeezed back, opening his mouth and then closing it. Taking a small breath he finally spoke out. “Kacchan once told me back in junior high... to take a swan dive off the roof of the building. He said hopefully I’d get a quirk in my next life. I then got attacked by a sludge villain under a bridge when heading home from school. I almost died, but right as I was about to tap out All Might saved me. We ended up on the roof of a building and All Might told me I’d never be a hero without a quirk. I was so close to jumping, I had stood there for maybe ten minutes contemplating whether I was going to jump or not. I chose not to. I loved my mother too much to hurt her. Yet, Bakugo was attacked by the sludge villain. No heroes on-site even tried to help. So I did. Quirkless little Deku saving a boy who would beat me up and belittle me every second of every day. The hero’s shunned me while they praised Bakugo. Yet, All Might caught me on my way home. My bravery and impulse won him to train me, to help me become the best hero in his image.”
Shinsou suddenly turned Midoriya to face him, before Midoriya could even process what was happening. Cold lips pressed against his warm ones, covered in drugstore chapstick. Yet, Midoriya leaned into the kiss with a relaxed smile, his hands creeping up to wrap around Shinsou’s neck. Shinsou rested his hands on Midoriya’s hips, pulling him closer. After a couple more seconds they pulled back. Midoriya flushed a light pink.
Midoriya was too happy to be flustered or panicked. Midoriya felt so loved, flooded with passion and new excitement. His high school sweetheart, his first boyfriend, and his first relationship: Shinsou. Shinsou seemed just as happy, content with the minty flavor left on his lips.
“Midoriya, I’m so grateful you're here right now. I’m so thankful to feel your touch and taste your lips covered in mint chapstick. You’re so badass and powerful and smart and optimistic and I don’t think All Might could’ve chosen a better person to train. I have vowed to hate Bakugo even more now, and I definitely will be brainwashing All Might into doing the chicken dance the next time I see him,” joked Shinsou, a tired smile on his face.
Midoriya, picking up some books while rising to his feet, sighed, “I’m glad I didn’t give up. Your lips are cold… it sent lightening bolts down my spine in the best way possible. You're very hardworking Shinsou! Getting into UA is an incredible achievement! Besides, you’ll most definitely be in Class 1-A in no time. Mineta is definitely going to get expelled for his disgusting behavior sooner or later.”
Shinsou remained quiet for a while, trying to remember who Mineta was. “Oh, is he the one who sexually harasses any girl that breaths right?”
“Yeah, I may or may not have punted him once in the hallway because he was going to take a pic under Momo and Jiro’s skirt while they were distracted.”
“Nice! Well, we can train together until that happens! Thanks again for helping me strengthen my quirk.”
“You're welcome! It’s fun to try and break out of it. Sadly I’m just too talented for you to lock me in.”
“Yeah! I don’t even know how you access your quirk in the first place!”
“I have people that live in my head and kinda just send all the power I possess through me till I’m so overwhelmed that I release it through my fingers. Thankfully I don’t break them anymore.”
“Woah— wait, what? You’re like... possessed? Cool, do you think…like… I could get some and have them use my quirk to send me to sleep?”
“Alright Mr. Insomniac. Why don’t we try and get you a sleeping bag? It seems to get Aizawa through the day,” laughed Midoriya, putting the books away and slipping a couple into his bookbag.
“A... sleeping bag?”
“Yeah! And we can get you a purple one!”
“You know what? Alright. It’s worth a shot.”
“Yes! We can go after my personal training with All Might tonight!”
“Sweet, let’s head to the cafeteria! I wanna buy some green tea. Tea somehow keeps me awake more than coffee does.”
Shinsou hummed, taking some books himself. “I’m probably going to get a cold coffee. I really enjoy my double shot of expresso.”
Midoriya sighed walking out of the aisle with Shinsou, content, “You really are crazy Hitoshi!”
The two passed by, Midoriya going deathly still as he stared back at his friends that all looked at him with horrified stares.
Shinsou mutters under his breath only to look at Midoriya and notice him panicking and dissociating. “Shit. God, why can’t you respect people’s privacy. I knew 1-A was known for being noses but jeez you really take the cake.”
Quickly guiding Midoriya out of the library, Shinsou left Midoriya’s four closest friends crouched by the bookshelf to their thoughts and guilt.
Tsuyu finally broke the silence with an uncalled for statement that was what everyone was thinking, “Fuck.”
(i wrote this 1/22/21 so ignore it if the story line makes no sense)
With the end of the war came a period of silence. The death of heroes shook society hard. Society had blamed and shunned heroes ruthlessly. Everyone pointed fingers at the people who offered safety and endless security. When they saw many who died at the hands of villains to save the world, no one knew what to do. Consumed by guilt and denial, civilians split in half.
The reconstruction period was difficult and challenging. Homelessness was at an all time high, funding was at an all time low, a depression overcame Japan.
Aizawa and Midoriya were in poor condition, but knew they needed to make a public appearance. Midoriya persevered, giving a heartfelt speech that had the world bowing on their knees. The world watched a 16 year old explain everything. Izuku Midoriya explained the arrival of quirks and the rise of All for One. He told the story of those that came before him. Midoriya took accountability for his role in the war. He explained he was the one mainly targeted despite the villains goal to wipe out all heroes.
While there was major changed that needed to be made, good came with the bad. Uraraka’s parent’s buisness was booming. With the high demand of builders and homes, her family’s buisness brought loads of money their way. Companies were determined to get repaired fast to have things up and running once more.
A year passed and everything was rebuilt. Companies were running again, schools were opening up their buildings. Third years from hero schools came out to claim their pro-hero title and get to work. Class 1-A still had to finish their education, but were allowed to go on patrol instead of PE. Relationships blossomed and friendships became unbreakable.
Katsuki and Izuku made things official the moment Katsuki was allowed to have visitors in the hospital. It was a rough reunion, but they’ve never felt better. Mitsuki, Masaru, and Inko had given the two some privacy before bursting in and restarting the tear fest.
Todoroki was proud of Katsuki for finally getting the guts to confess. He ended up joining the two in the hospital bed and cuddling with them. Todoroki was the official third wheel and he had no problem getting never ending attention from the two.
Uraraka took the time to accept what had happened. She found love in Iida, the person who always made her smile. Iida was surprised with the upfront confession from Uraraka, but awkwardly accepted it. Uraraka laughed at how red his face was, knowing he couldn’t hide behind his stoic personality.
Momo and Jiro found courage from Midoriya and Bakugo to confess their own love for one another. They knew the strong friendship they felt wasn’t enough. They had always known there was a bigger connection than what they made it out to be. They walked into visit Bakugo and Midoriya, holding hands happily. The new couples both greeted each other calmly. Bakugo was still high on painkillers but that’s beside the point.
Midoriya’s teeth had gotten a bit messed up in the fight. Once everything was healed, he needed braces to fix up the damage. Bakugo adored them, forcing Midoriya to smile just so he can admire the new look. Midoriya didn’t need to be asked to smile, far too happy that everything was over, Bakugo was safe, and he was now dating “Kacchan”.
Kirishima and Mina took a while to get to it, but they ended up making things official when the effects of the war died down a bit. Kaminari and Sero were optimistic about the future, knowing with All for One being dead there was a lot less trouble to come. Ojiro and Hagakure were much like Mina and Kirishima. They decided to start dating when things calmed down and the time felt right.
Aoyama and his family were able to recover. It was clear there were going to be some serious repercussions for their crimes. Despite the odds against him, Aoyama proved his determination to be a hero. Midoriya was going to help him through his journey.
With the rise of a new era, came new rules that needed to be enforced. The biggest issue being dwelled on was quirk-discrimination. Many villains rise came from mistreatment or the backlash they received from their quirk. Quirkless discrimination was also taken just as seriously due to the high suicide rate that came with not having a quirk. The hierarchy of quirks came to an end as heroism was no longer as big as it had been.
The world repaired itself and so did society. Time passed and soon class 1-A graduated. They were out building their own agencies, employing people left an right. While crime was very low, heroes were still needed for any kind of situation.
Midoriya and Bakugo started their own agency. They had a good bit of their classmates working there as well, and of course Todoroki was one of them.
It was a Saturday and Todoroki was in charge since Midoriya and Bakugo wanted off on the same day for a change.
Midoriya sat of the edge of the balcony, swinging his feet back and forth. The morning sun lit up his face and the breeze twirled his long hair. Bakugo hated his dumb, beautiful long hair. He knew Midoriya would eventually cut it, but it was still stupid. His bangs were clipped back and his earrings jingled.
There was something mesmerizing about Midoriya’s soft, gorgeous face and his scared, beefy body. Bakugo loved Midoriya. And when Midoriya turned around to flash a wide smile to show off his braces, Bakugo could pass out.
Something about the easy, carefree morning that would guide them to a passionate night made his gut bubble. Bakugo sets his cup of morning tea on the table with Midoriya’s before swinging his legs over the balcony and sitting down. Midoriya kissed his cheek before snuggling into his side. Bakugo sighed, feeling complete. His body moved naturally to sink into Midoriya.
“Morning Kacchan.”
“Mornin’ Izuku.”
Perfect.
Izuku was best friends with his guidance counselor. Inko knew about Izuku’s mental health and Izuku had no problem speaking his mind. Izuku had been hospitalized on a number of occasions because he told Inko. The guidance counselor was aware of Izuku being open with his mom which lowered the stress of betraying Izuku’s trust.
Izuku was incredibly depressed and struggled to cope with the bullying. Being able to wear a facade all day was exhausting as well. It was nice to walk into the counselor’s office and vent. While Izuku was open, he did hide it around his mother. He didn’t want her to worry more than she already was. Seeing the school counselor was the only option considering therapy was far too expensive.
Izuku had Major Depressive Disorder, Social Phobia, Attention Deficit Disorder, and was showing signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder more and more with every encounter of bullying he endured. It was clear the physical and mental abuse he received day in and day out didn’t help. There was no escape when he came home. Cyberbullying was just as severe.
During lunch, milk had been pored all over Izuku. Much to everyones shock, Izuku slammed his book shut and stormed out of the cafeteria. Katsuki scowled, irritated by Izuku’s dramatic reaction. The brown haired bully jumped, not expecting the retaliation. The other bully watched him leave, bewhildered before smirking.
“Let’s get him while he’s in the locker room!”
Katsuki didn’t have a problem with it, wanting to put Izuku back in his place. The other bully tagged along, lauging about how he was going to mock Izuku. They chased after him.
When Izuku’s three bullies spotted him down the hall, his shoulders were tensed, a milk trail following him. His book bag was in one hand and his notebook in the other. There was something about the aura he was radiating that made them uneasy. Midoriya stormed right up to the guidance counselor’s office, threw open the door and let it out.
“Do you know how much I want to fucking pick up a fucking chair and smash it across their fucking face?”
Katsuki stopped in his tracks, eyes wide in surprise. That went straight to his dick.
“Shit. Izuku’s told on us?” whispered the long-finger bully.
“That’s what you’re worried about? He sounds like he wants to kill us,” exasperated the brown haired bully.
Katsuki had more concerns than that. In that split second, he came to the realization he knew nothing about Izuku. He didn’t know Izuku cursed. He never would’ve guessed Izuku got angry. Katsuki wondered if Izuku already was telling the adults at school, was he telling Inko? In a matter of seconds, he realized his entire future lies in Izuku’s hands. Something about that made him oddly hot, feeling flustered by the information.
The guidance counselor didn’t even sound surprised by his outburst. “Oh I know you do. Thankfully you didn’t do it.”
Izuku took a sharp breath before slamming the door behind him. The building shook from the force of the slam, causing the three to share a stunned look. They all crept to the door to listen, needing to know more.
“I’m leaving my stuff here. I’m going to the showers and I’ll be back. I’m skipping next period,” informed Izuku. His tone was sharp, unsteady, and clearly still holding a lot of rage.
The counselor shook her head, fixing her notebook’s position on the desk. “Very well. I’ll try and dry off your things while you clean up.”
“Thank you.”
“No problem kid.”
The bullies booked it to a janitors closet down the hall to avoid getting caught. Izuku came out a couple seconds later, fingers flying on the keypads on his phone. When he disappeared down the hall, the group chose to part their separate ways and head to class.
Katsuki sat at his desk with a scowl. He was frustrated by his feelings. As much as he wanted to hate Midoriya and unleash his rage to make up for extreme weakness he was feeling, he truly didn’t want to. There was some deep fondness resonating within him. He was terrified and that excited him.
Izuku reappeared a period later with a drained expression. His hair was dry, his clothes were completely changed, and his bag and notebook looked perfectly fine. While the trio were mad their stunt didn’t leave any long lasting damage, they were glad their actions didn’t cause him to be so pissed off that he’d kill them.
None of the idiots wanted to be hit in the fucking face by a fucking chair.
Izuku Has An Older Brother
Hisashi Midoriya dead
Mild Manga Spoiler @ end
The Midoriya family was small. It was Izuku, Inko, Hisashi, and his older brother Haru. Haru had stopped going to school halfway through high school, needing to help pay the bills. Hisashi had gotten sick during his business trip in Germany and could no longer work. Inko went from being a stay at home mom, to working 40 hour weeks with paid overtime. Haru would be out working as well, helping to fill in the other expenses of the apartment and everyday necessities.
Izuku grew up taking care of Hisashi. Izuku would give him his baths, make him take his pills, put on his chapstick, and make sure his IV was working properly. When Izuku was in his first year of Junior High, Hisashi passed away. Inko never told anyone, but many people from Hisashi’s work came, both from Japan and from Germany. He had been highly respected and had been an incredible man. Izuku sobbed, missing school for a week. Inko had kept up with work, having to pay off debt. Haru continued working, but lowered the amount of time he was working to keep an eye on Izuku. Izuku spent most of his time wrapped up in Hisashi’s clothing, laying in the bed he spent almost every hour of every day in.
Izuku still cleaned the house, made them dinner for after work, and would even spend his free time teaching Haru the stuff he learned. Izuku would give Inko back massages, fix her tea, and cuddle her to let them mourn and push past their grief and loss. Haru would always watch Midoriya with sad eyes, seeing him wear the same shirts everyday. The shirts were basic and they were all bought from the clearance section in a random clothing store. He watched Midoriya buy the same red shoes every time he needed a new pair. They were the cheapest pair of shoes manufactured for quirkless people.
Izuku would sit there, all alone in the kitchen, finding online coupons for Haru to use since he cut back on work hours. Izuku would do every single free give away for All Might merchandise and would only ask for one poster or figure for his birthday. Inko and Haru would often cry, knowing how this was a lot for Izuku to deal with when he was only 12 years old. Nothing really got better when Izuku started experiencing severe bullying in school. He never told Haru or Inko, but they knew.
Izuku was in his second year of Junior High when Haru decided to surprise him. Haru planned to pick Izuku up from school and take him out to grab something to eat. It would just be Haru and Izuku since Inko switched shifts with someone and was working the night shift instead. Izuku had gotten out of school, phone held in his hand as he read an article about a villain attack. Bakugo and his lackeys weren’t too far behind Midoriya, stalking him like wild predators.
Haru waved at Izuku calling out. “Izuku!”
Izuku’s head snapped up from his phone. Spotting Haru, Izuku beamed at the sight of his brother. “Haru!”
The bullies immediately backed off. They were stunned to see Midoriya with an older guy who was definitely nearing the end of his teen years. Bakugo felt his blood boil, frustrated and confused at the presence of the unknown person. The other bullies were just shocked to see someone greet Midoriya happily.
Haru smiled, looking down at Midoriya fondly. “Mom switched shifts, we going out to eat tonight. I know it’s long overdue, but consider it your birthday dinner.”
Bakugo stilled a bit, confused on how Haru spoke to Izuku. He wasn’t sure if Haru was acting like he was Midoriya’s older brother or if they were actually brothers. Bakugo stalked closer casually, trying not to bring attention to him or his lackeys.
Izuku smiled, head tilting to the side. “Nonsense. I can cook us something a home. I just won a raffle the other day and got us two fresh briskets!” Izuku started rambling, getting excited. “We can have one tonight. I was planning on having some beef stock soup and enoki mushrooms with a garlic and scallion sauce! I could even save some for mom and we can drop it off at her work!”
Bakugo’s eyebrows narrowed with his eyes, growing irritated. Since when did Inko work? There was nothing wrong with her working, but since him and Izuku were in diapers, Inko always took care of Izuku and was a stay at home mom. On top of that, Midoriya was winning food raffles and talking about making a fancy meal? Since when did Izuku want to be a chef or focus on anything other than being a hero. The bullies were shocked by that part as well.
Haru frowned, looking at Midoriya with guilty eyes, ashamed of how Midoriya was so prone to saving money for the others sake. “No I was hoping we could go out and grab something together. I love your cooking and that sound amazing, but mom already took some leftovers yesterday to work and I saved up some money to treat you.”
Bakugo felt his eye twitch, hands growing sweaty.
“Money?”
He couldn’t understand why money was such an issue suddenly? It seemed that everything was perfect for Izuku financially. He always had All Might merchandise and his uniform was always in perfect condition despite the amount of them he personally had ruined. He didn’t know who this mystery guy was or why he wanted to take Izuku out on a late birthday dinner.
Izuku smiled, taking Haru’s hands gently. Most of the students had disappeared at this point, many already in their clubs or heading home or to hang out with friends. Bakugo and his lackeys pretended that they were not paying attention. Midoriya wasn’t facing them so as long as Haru didn’t grow suspicious then everything would’ve been fine.
Izuku had taken Haru’s hands gently and smiled. “Are you sure? I don’t need a birthday dinner… all I needed was to spend the day with you and mom. I don’t need you to go out of your way to do this for me.”
The group of bullies felt guilt creep in, uneasy with how Midoriya spoke.
Haru frowned, eyes whelming up slightly with tears at how gentle his younger brother was. “I’m sorry Izuku. I’m so sorry.”
Midoriya raised a hand to wipe Haru’s tears.
“Don’t apologize brother.”
The group instantly froze, finally noticing the faint freckles Haru must’ve also inherited from his father. They noticed the black hair that matched the black patches in Midoriya’s. Bakugo noticed his hair was similar to Inko’s, thick and straight. The boy was wearing a black dress shirt and some slacks, revealing his probably worked as a server at a restaurant. His eyes were tried, but he looked at Midoriya so adoringly that they would’ve mistaken the exhaustion for relief.
They all watched the older boy, now known as Midoriya’s brother, shiver under the kind touch of the boy they bullied.
“Brother… why are you always apologizing?” inquired Izuku.
“I… I don’t,” denied Haru sheepishly.
“Yes. You do. You and mother stare at me with apologetic eyes all the time. You use actions, not words, to say you are sorry,” stated Izuku firmly.
The brother felt his eyes widen, cheek heating up at the fact he had been caught. He found himself embarrassed, thinking he had tried to appear strong when Izuku saw through it all along.
Bakugo saw the expression of Haru and knew instantly that Izuku saw deeper into Haru than what Haru assumed he was capable of seeing. The other bullies watched, crouching to rest their legs, but listening at the same time. Bakugo wanted to know everything, he didn’t know why he didn’t know. Inko told Mitsuki everything and Mitsuki told everything she talked about to him and his father at dinner. Why did he not know about Haru? Why did he not know about the money? What else didn’t he know?
“Does being poor make us unhappy? If I can’t wear popular clothing or buy a new uniform, should people pity us?” questioned Midoriya, gently rubbing Haru’s cheek with concern.
Haru looked at Midoriya with widened eyes. Desperately wanting to tell Midoriya that yes, he was happy even though he was poor. Nobody had to pity them because of their circumstances. He wanted to let Midoriya know he deserved those things. Not that because of them being poor, they had to be miserable and appear miserable.
Bakugo on the other hand felt his heart stop. Not only was Midoriya struggling with money, but they were classified as poor. Not only that but he and the other bullies were astonished how well kept the uniform was. It looked perfect despite the amount of times they pushed him and made him scratch up the uniform or how they made him get stains on it, or the times where they’ve burnt it or spilled things on him. They couldn’t fathom the work he put in to not get a new one. They felt guilty, not only were the hurting Midoriya, but the entire family when they were financially distressed. They felt like the shit people they truly were.
They couldn’t do anything but look at Midoriya love and console his older brother, finally deciding to talk about the issues they most likely danced around.
“Are you so determined to blame someone that… that you blame our father from dying of illness?” softly persisted Izuku, asking gently in the worry of Haru being so torn up over what happened that his grief turned to anger.
Bakugo and the bullies felt as if their world shattered in the moment. The distraught look on Haru’s face matched the bullies as they felt like they had just recieved the biggest slap in the face.
Bakugo stood there is disbelief. Hisashi was dead, that’s why Inko was working and they were struggling for money. He didn’t know when Hisashi got sick, when he died, how Hisashi died. He didn’t even know if there was a funeral. This side of Midoriya’s life had been hidden so well it never once occurred to him something changed. The other bullies all unanimously agreed they would back off with Midoriya’s uniform.
“While I was taking care of him, bathing him, feeding him… he worked so hard… but it wasn’t enough. Nothing he could’ve done was enough. Even though the medicine was keeping the illness from developing, it weakened his kidneys and liver,” explained Midoriya, taking Haru’s hand again, squeezing them tightly.
Bakugo felt himself join the others crouching down as he was overwhelmed with even more information. They all exchanged a look, realizing how bad this was. Izuku was bullied during the day, taking care of his dying father at night. None of them could even begin to imagine how mentally challenging it must’ve been for him.
“We just have to accept it,” cooed Midoriya, looking down at Haru’s hands.
Haru felt his eyes water, amazed with his little brother’s beautiful maturity and innocence. I made the cold bitterness in his heart turn into a warm and sugary lightness. With Izuku’s words alone, he felt ready to accept how things were.
Midoriya looked up at his brother with tears falling from his eyes, his heart racing. “We’re only humans. We can’t just expect things to go the way we want.”
The group of bullies felt their eyes widen, listening to Midoriya in awe. His ability to push forward with pride and passion to take life head and heart first stunned them. They all knew if they had been put in his shoes, none of them would be handling it how he was. Hell, they weren’t even sure if they’d still be alive. Bakugo’s whole existence was based off of his quirk, without it, he’d have nothing. He never would admit it, but it was true. To hear Midoriya explain that he accepted life for what it is despite the odds being against him, was powerful.
Haru was frowning, beyond upset. It wasn’t toward Izuku, Inko, or Hisashi. It was toward himself. He had wallowed in self-pity and self-deprecating thoughts when he should’ve been pushing forward to smile and laugh. He should’ve been working harder, towards a brighter future that Hisashi would want them to go chase after. Izuku tended to his family because he wanted them to smile again, live comfortably in the comfort of being alive with one another.
“Whether or not you are happy… all of this is up to you. What matters in now. That your alive, you’re healthy, and that I’m here and mom’s here,” rationalized Izuku, trying to speak his heart, his voice, his thoughts and feelings.
One of the bullies nodded to himself, agreeing. Izuku was completely right. Haru had every right to focus on the past and reflect, but the past shouldn’t be controlling everything he does in the future. Haru and Inko were trying to live through the past and it wasn’t helping them or Izuku. From what they heard, Midoriya heart was pure despite the scars is bore. Bakugo felt the protectiveness he once felt as a young child. He felt that longing need to be the stronger one that would protect the meek kid Izuku was. The bullies didn’t feel the need to protect, but rather they felt respect. They all felt the strong vitality Midoriya possessed, and they respected it.
“Let’s push forward together, focus on what’s going to come! Yes, we must work hard and do things that we’d rather not worry or stress over… but we must fight for it!” Midoriya raised his voice as he spoke, finding himself growing emotional.
The life in Midoriya’s voice, the overwhelming emotions that couldn’t be easily defined, shook them to their core. They hadn’t ever heard Midoriya’s raise his voice, let alone sound defensive.
“So please, stop apologizing. You out of everyone I know should understand… I want someone to understand how I feel!” cried Midoriya.
The bullies felt their eyes widen. Out of all of the times they’ve seen Midoriya cry. They’ve never heard it. They’ve never listened to his voice break as he tried to finish his sentence despite his soul howling in despair. Bakugo knew things were going to change, he wouldn’t make it too obvious, but he was going to lay off. The bullies were more than willing to comply, using him being quirkless didn’t seem like justification for their actions after what they heard.
Haru felt his eyes widen, panicking. “Hey, hey, hey. I want to understand how you feel Izu. I can’t imagine what you had to go through taking care of dad alone. I can’t imagine what it felt like watching him die as you waited for someone to come help. I don’t understand your emotional connection… but I want you to have everything and more Izuku.”
Haru pulled Izuku into a tight hug, rubbing his cheek in Izuku’s wild curls and breathing in the wonderful scent of their 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner. He clung to Izuku like a lifeline, rocking back and fourth. Midoriya hugged back, his whole body sinking into Haru.
“You deserve everything you want in life Izuku. I’m apologizing because I can’t offer you what you deserve. You don’t deserve anything you’ve been through.”
Izuku grumbled, smacking the back of Haru’s head. “Don’t worry about what I deserve. Focus on what I need. I need you and mom to smile and stop wallowing around. Let me do what I’ve been doing to help without having you two stare at me with sad eyes.”
The bullies all watched the two interact with grins. The sight of Haru being serious and wanting the best for Midoriya, only for him to get disciplined by his younger brother. It was laughable, but they remained quiet, pretending to just be worried about something else. Haru had acknowledged their presence, but didn’t think anything of it because they did appear to be on their phones and casually “talking”.
Midoriya pulled away and quickly dabbed away his tears. “Let’s grab some bubble tea and go home and grill some brisket? I don’t want to eat out… it gives me anxiety.”
Haru looked at Midoriya and his mood immediately lightens up. “Okay, let’s go. Wanna talk about your day at school?”
“School was stupid as always. How about you tell me how work went. I’m sure some crazy person made an interesting story,” deflected Izuku, quickly putting the focus off of him.
The bullies as sank with relief, glad Midoriya didn’t bring them up. They couldn’t help but be surprised nonetheless as he didn’t even show any sign his day was bad, giving a generic response like any teen would normally say. They couldn’t help but wonder if Midoriya never brought them up period.
Midoriya patted his brother on the cheek before Haru turned around to walk with Midoriya to the cheapest place to buy bubble tea.
The following day, Midoriya comes to school and rather being greeted by a punch, he only met with insults. Not once had Bakugo and his lackeys lay a finger on him since the beginning of the day to the moment Midoriya stepped into the comfort of his home. Midoriya noticed the way their words seemed to get caught on their tongue as they made snide comments and their usual stale remarks and insults. He noticed and wondered if they had a change of heart and a change of attitude. Maybe someone said something to them that made them think about their actions. Whatever it was, it made Midoriya smile to himself. All days after that, it was the same. His bullying became strictly verbal and he could live with that.
Time passed and nothing really changed until the fateful day the teacher purposefully told the class Midoriya wanted to go to UA. Bakugo lost his temper and proceeded to be just as awful of a person as he had been the previous yesr. The bullies even called him out for it, pointing out how he was far harsher than usual. Bakugo had burned Midoriya’s shoulder while death gripping it. He chased his physical attack with one of the worst things he could’ve ever said and proceeded to leave as if nothing had happened.
Midoriya got into UA anyways and made Bakugo eat his words. Bakugo didn’t understand how Midoriya magically got a quirk, but that was a confrontation for another time. It wouldn’t be until after the Paranormal Liberation War when Midoriya was in recovery that Bakugo finally met Haru one to one.
The first thing Bakugo did was bow down before Haru and Inko.
“I’m sorry.”
A/N: anyone notice the scene from Demon Slayer I used 😉
ALSO HOW DO YOU UNLIKE YOUR OWN POST???
nvm my shit was glitched
Midoriya was sitting on couch, wrapped up in a blanket as he read his online All Might comic. This was his usual routine as he waited for his mom to return home. Suddenly there was the knock on the door. Midoriya jumped up, assuming his mother got groceries on her way home and needed him to open the door.
Without bothering to look through the peephole, Midoriya threw open the door with a wide smile. “You’re back! Need me to help with-?”
Upon opening his eyes, he was met with a kind looking man standing beside what appeared to be his teenage son. Midoriya turned bright red, visibly embarrassed as he bowed.
“I apologize! What may I help you two with?”
The father brightly smiled as he introduced himself. “Don’t worry about it kid. We are your new neighbours. We moved into the apartment next door.”
“Oh! It is lovely meeting you! My name is Izuku Midoriya, I apologize but my mother is currently at work!”
The father smiled, happy with such a kind boy as his neighbour. “It’s alright! The names Takada, Takada Shirogane. This is my son Takada Ray.”
“Would you like to come in? I can get you water, tea, coffee, whatever you like. I can only imagine how tired you are from the whole moving process,” asked Midoriya kindly.
One thing led to another and the Midoriya’s and the Takada family became friends. They tended to have meals together and both of the single parents got along and their only children got along as well.
Takada and Midoriya soon became best friends despite their quirk status and the two were quick to generate a plan. Takada somehow became friends with Bakugo. Just like that, Midoriya and Takada slowly ruined Bakugo’s life piece by piece. They were happy; But all good things come to an end.
Midoriya was walking home with Takada, they casually talked like usual and joked about how stupid the bullies were. Midoriya suddenly got a call from Inko.
“Sorry Ray! My mom needs me for the night. I’ll see you tomorrow,” apologized Midoriya.
Takada seemed unnaturally relieved, looking at Midoriya with a smile. “Alright! See you tomorrow Izuku!”
Within fifteen minutes, Midoriya had gotten ready and left. One hour later, guests arrived at Takada’s hourse. Four hours later, Midoriya comes back home alongside someone interning at Inko’s work. The two were exhausted. Midoriya is met with the awful stench of alcohol, cigarettes, and the commotion inside Takada’s apartment.
The guy looked at Midoriya confused. “Are your neighbour’s hosting a party?”
“Yes, Ryu. They are,” hissed Midoriya angrily.
Ryu looked at Midoriya worriedly. “Hey, hey. What’s wrong?”
Midoriya wiped the tears of anger off his face. “What’s wrong is that my supposed friend is a backstabbing piece of shit.”
“Oh. Yeah no. No. You’re confronting this asshole. Do it in front of everybody. I’ll be with you,” reassured Ryu confidently.
Midoriya, feeling empowered by his newly made friends presence, stormed up to the door. Pounding on the door, Midoriya quickly crossed his arms and tapped his foot.
The door swung open to reveal a laughing Takada. “Hey, you got the drinks?”
“Are you drunk?” asked Midoriya disbelievingly.
Takada finally took the time to notice who was before him. As if all the alcohol he had drank suddenly disappeared, Takada’s face droped.
“Deku— Izuku— I... it’s not what it looks like,” backtracked Takada immediately, or tried to.
The party inside immediately stopped. The moment Deku’s name reached their ears, all attention was on the scene at the door.
“Oh god,” sighed Takada absentmindedly.
Midoriya smiled, the anger apparent in his eyes. “You dirty little liar.”
“I’m sorry! I can explain!” Takada urgently started.
“Oh, explain how you didn’t tell me you were having a party?” retorted Midoriya sassily.
Ryu nodded, backing up Midoriya. “You tell him Izuku!”
Takada, seeming to forget the entire group in his home behind him, tried explaining himself. “You know I couldn’t invite you! I had to pretend to hate you!”
Midoriya laughed, tears slowly forming in his eyes. “I didn’t say invite me! I said you never even told me! Pfff— buddy. You’re not pretending anymore. You’re two faced. A cold, and heartless, two faced bitch.”
Ryu noticed all the people inside watching in surprise. Ryu scoffed, turning his attention back to Midoriya.
Midoriya narrowed his eyes, deciding on mocking Takada. “Are you having an awesome time? Are you drinking awesome shooters and listening to awesome music, and sitting around and soaking up each others awesomeness?”
“You know what? You’re the one who made me like this! Just so you could use me for your childhood revenge,” argued Takada, drunk and panicking, desperate to defend himself.
Midoriya, amazed with Takada’s bullshit, raised his voice. “God! See, at least me and Bakugo know we’re mean. You try to act like you’re so innocent like— oh I used to live in America with all the money and the lavish lifestyle!”
Takada snapped, yelling at Midoriya. “You know it’s not my fault a useless, quirkless, shit like you is in love with me or something!”
There were multiple gasps heard from inside Takada’s apartment. Midoriya shouted in anger, royally pissed off.
“What?”
Ryu looked ready to murder, his eye twitching. “Oh no he did not!”
Midoriya stormed over to Takada and sent a hard punch into his nose. “Fuck you!”
Takada flew back from the force. He knew his nose was definitely broken. Midoriya wiped off his hand in disgust.
“See! That’s the thing with you bullies! You act like you’re the best but everyone fucking hates you! Like, Bakugo’s right hand. He dumped his girlfriend and guess what! He still doesn’t want you! So why are you still messing with them Takada?”
Looking at Midoriya in horror, Takada shook his head lost and mortified. Midoriya snapped, shouting out the thing dying to come out.
“I’ll tell you why! Because you are a bad person! You’re a bitch!”
The rest of the party all felt themselves gasp, genuinely surprised to see Midoriya so angry. Ryu still was glaring at Takada, beyond pissed with the performance the asshole made.
“I can’t believe I actually thought I had finally made a friend for the first time in my life,” breathed out Midoriya in defeat.
Takada looked up at Midoriya in horror. The weight of what just happened finally hit him. “Shit... shit, shit, shit. Izuku! Wait!”
Ryu suddenly stepped between the two, his glare harsh as he pushed Takada into the apartment and stepped in himself.
“Everyone in here! And I mean everyone. Fuck you. Izuku is the most hardworking and incredible person I’ve ever met! Not once had he needed a quirk to prove he was worth my time. You all are just assholes. Good luck having a future with the mindset you have you quirkist fucks.”
Walking over to Midoriya, Ryu gently ruffled his hair. “Let’s go. You’ll be staying the night at mine tonight. I don’t want you home alone right now.”
Midoriya nodded, wiping his snot and tears with his shirt sleeve. “Okay.”
Grabbing his things, Midoriya left his house to see Bakugo had been waiting for him, along with the two other bullies.
“Hey! Deku! The hell was that all about?” shouted Bakugo.
Midoriya turned around, wearing a wide smile. “Oh, so everything that’s suddenly been happening to you. I’m the cause of it.”
Bakugo felt his frown turn into a taunting smile. “What?”
Midoriya walked right up to Bakugo, wearing a matching smirk. “Katsuki, my love. There’s a new sherif in town.”
Suddenly planting a passionate kiss on Katsuki’s lips, Midoriya felt everyone watch him in fear. Midoriya walked away with a bored expression, heading over to Ryu who wore a shit-eating grin.
“Shit Izuku, you’re hella dope. Inko wasn’t joking when she said she raised a wild one,” commented Ryu casually.
Midoriya looked up at Ryu with innocent eyes. “Of course she did. I learned everything from her. Why do you think I hate almost every guy I meet?”
“I just thought you were always hungry.”
“Yeah... about that... no.”
“Right. Um, ready to go?”
“Oh. Yeah, I am.”
“Okay, let’s go then. I guess.”
“Mhmm.”
Midoriya awkwardly left with Ryu, leaving the now conflicted party behind. Takada was busy trying to figure out how to kick everyone out. The bullies were all staring with dropped jaws. Bakugo felt his face burn as the taste of Midoriya’s strawberry chapstick taunted him.
“Fucking Deku.”
Pianist! Deku (Contains MonoDeku and Hisashi Midoriya is dead)
Midoriya knew his dream was unrealistic. He knew that his brains alone wouldn’t assure a spot in UA. Still, it wasn’t impossible. He easily could have it all with a support system and a mentor. Yet, he was absolutely alone. He’d train his mind, pushing his mental and emotional awareness to it’s peak. He understood how the world worked and why people acted the way they do.
He found a peace in violence. He found a feeing of what it was like to be a hero through being bullied. He understood the fight or flight response, the adrenaline rush, the fear, and the impulse of immediately knowing what to do. He understood pain and remaining calm despite his depression, anxiety, and possible ADD issues.
Midoriya found contentment in a random store he saw on his way home through the quiet part of town. The doors were wide open as the sound of a grand piano rang through the bright streets. Midoriya found himself walking right into a beautiful music shop. A lovely woman, soft features with a look of passion, poured her whole body and soul into the chords and notes the piano possessed if touched just right.
Mesmerized, Midoriya stood in the doorway with his fists tightly gripping his book-bag straps. The woman felt his stare and quickly finished her piece and welcomed him.
“Hello! Welcome! How my I help you today?”
Midoriya immediately flushed red, waving his hands urgently. “Sorry! I just heard your playing and I came over here! I’m so sorry if I disrupted you or interrupted your peace! I just thought it was amazing and—!”
The woman let out a airy laugh, motioning for him to sit down. “Nonsense! I barely get any people to enter simply from my music. I’m more than happy to have someone who has a taste for piano.”
Midoriya wilted slightly, looking for the sheet music only to see there was none. “How’d you do that? Play without music?”
“My quirk! I call it Natural Touch! Basically, I’m a natural piano player. I can make a whole piece simply by moving my fingers to however I’m feeling!”
“Wow! Incredible!”
“Indeed it is. I have a feeling the fate brought you here. Now, sit. Let’s find your calling.”
———————————————————————
Two years passed and Midoriya was finally in his third year of junior high. Unfortunately the school year had just started and Midoriya was no where close to having his interaction with the sludge villain and All Might.
Midoriya was quick to clean his desk, wiping off the marker-written graffiti that was nothing more than unoriginal and overused insults with the new cleaner he purchased online. Tossing his bag over his shoulder, Midoriya rushed out of the school in a hurry. He had told the woman who he now called Sae-san he had finished his newest piece.
He had based the entire piece off of the overwhelming intoxication of needing to be perfect. It was like chasing after your dreams and seeing how far away it was but still rushing forward, wonderfully out of breath as you panted. It was almost as if you were running in a endless open field of beautiful flowers and lively green grass as the wind twirled and tugged at your hair. It was the struggle, the fight and pride bubbling in your stomach as you find a motivation inside your gut. It was a long and beautifully painfully journey. Short and swift moments that switched to tedious and serious clashes, the anxiety, and then the run. It was the home stretch where you admire the world around as you make it to the end.
Midoriya saw the beauty. He saw it all. Now he has put it into a beautiful piece to tell the story, to covey the emotions.
Running out the school doors, he failed to see his bullies waiting for him outside. For the group to see Midoriya run, it brought a smirk among their faces as they assumed he was trying to escape a beating. Midoriya was swift on his feet, somewhat similar to a beautiful fox. The group was surprised at his speed and agility. At some points they lost him and could only spot him when he was rushing through a long open area.
About three corners away from his destination, the bullies lost Midoriya. Frustrated, they settled on beating him up first thing the next time they saw him. Deciding that they could just hang out since they were all together, the group wandered around the area seeing all the small shops.
Soon, they arrived on the same block as the music shop, Midoriya’s location. Unaware of Midoriya’s presence, they mindlessly bought some snacks at a small convince store. As soon as they left the store, they sat down on a bench right outside the music store.
The bully with hideous long grey hair almost spat out his drink when he looked into the window only to see Midoriya. This, of course, caught the attention of Bakugo and the black haired douchebag. The other two looked just as surprised to see Midoriya.
Bakugo smirked as he went to get up. “Found you, worthless fucker!”
Holding Bakugo back by his arm, the black haired bully didn’t even spare a glance to the blond. “Hold up. Deku is fucking going to play the piano?”
“No fucking way,” snorted the grey haired idiot.
Bakugo lowered himself back onto the bench, a psychotic smile worn on his face. “Oh, this is gonna be pathetic!”
The two nodded in agreement watching. Suddenly a beautiful woman rushed over with a chair. Midoriya seemed surprised by her excitement, letting out a squeaking noise. The woman let out an airy laugh as he clapped.
Just like on the fateful day Midoriya met her, the windows were wide open along with the front door. The sun was shining bright as the sky was a beautiful shade of blue. Fluffy, lively clouds offered periodic moments of shade that came and went as they pleased.
Midoriya seemed to realize something as he shot up from where he was sitting and rushed behind the counter. The woman watched with a patient smile, unbothered. Midoriya returned holding a stack of papers.
The woman looked up at him in amazement. “Is... is this the sheet music?”
Midoriya eagerly nodded, handing the sheets to her. The woman was quickly to pull the pages apart and lay them out. He paused when she was dividing post-it notes. She gasped harshly as she stared at the nervous boy standing over her.
“Are these overlapping one another?”
Midoriya shyly nodded, motioning to the post-its. “Yes. Using a layering device, each of these chords will be overlapping and progressively being played over one another. After so many counts, the new layer will be able to be taken.”
The woman gasped, scooping up all the papers and cheering out in pure joy. “Genius! You’re amazing! Adding and removing layers to create a passionate and climaxing piece! The “building-up” style will be a moving one!”
Midoriya shook his head, waving his hands. “Well— yes! That was the whole goal but I wouldn’t call it genius! Besides, I wouldn’t ever be as amazing as you!”
“Having a quirk has absolutely nothing to do with talent and skill. You are a wonderful person and I’m grateful to have you be a part of my life. Now... play,” the woman nudged, resting a hand on Midoriya’s shoulder.
Midoriya nodded sitting down onto the bench. The woman looked at the papers before extending them out. “Do you need these?”
Midoriya offered a warm smile. “Nope. I actually printed them off just for you.”
The lady chuckled, holding them close. “Of course, I shouldn’t have expected any less of you than to memorize the piece by heart.”
Midoriya connected his device to piano and made sure it was working. After quickly changing a setting, Midoriya finally nodded and started the countdown. Nodding his head to the tempo he prepared his hands.
Taking a quick breath he started to play.
Simply tapping one note before randomly throwing in another for a while almost brought the bystanders to laughter. Midoriya picked up his hands as the notes continued the play while he quickly moved his fingers to add a layer. The process repeated, and repeated, and repeated.
The woman seemed just as stunned as his bullies. Their jaws hung low as Midoriya passionately played, eyes occasionally opening as he smiled. The wind picked up as the sun almost magically came out from the clouds, blinding everyone with Midoriya’s beauty and power.
The woman closed her eyes, body swaying to the music as he allowed herself to feel. She felt the struggles, the fear, the flight, and the childish excitement of his existence.
Midoriya suddenly cut off multiple layers with the single tap of his foot on an electronic pedal and was beginning to relayer all over again. It was a beautiful mess of emotion invoking chords and jumbles of notes.
The group of bullies hadn’t moved an inch, too entranced to do much of anything. They felt his music, his mind, his passion. It was oddly uplifting yet leaving them in a drowning feeling. The way Midoriya’s messy curly hair was picked up and tossed in the wind as his eyes were gently closed as his body pushed and occasionally ground forward with power. His head bowed and rolled to the music as every ounce of himself was the piece.
Finally he came to a stop before taking a deep breath and opening his eyes. Suddenly a present voice caught everyone off guard.
“Can I please take you out on a date?” a voice desperately asked.
Midoriya jumped, his whole body turning to see who had said such a thing to him even he already knew who. An average looking guy with short blond hair and blue eyes stood in the doorway with a smirk. He was wearing a stylish polo with some black ripped jeans. In his hand was a plastic bag.
Midoriya sighed, excusing himself from the shop owner. “Neito, why bother? I already told you—!”
“That I can’t like you because you’re quirkless. Unfortunately you can’t tell me who I can like. So I’m here to forcefully take you out on a date. First, I have some offerings.”
Midoriya couldn’t help but smile as he made his way over to Monoma. “What is it now?”
Monoma opened the bag and first pulled out a small object. “Hold out your hands.”
Midoriya raised a brow, hesitantly holding out his hands. Monoma quickly put the object in Midoriya’s hands only to reveal a beautiful crystal. Looking at it, Midoriya suddenly made the connection.
“Are you trying to woo me like penguins do?”
“Yes. Next.”
Midoriya waited patiently as Monoma carefully reached a hand into the plastic bag. Midoriya found himself growing nervous when Monoma started pulling his hand up, out of the bag. Holding a box he quickly got down on one knee and revealed a ring.
“Marry me!”
Midoriya stared at the boy blankly, watching the eager look in Monoma’s eyes as he looked as if he was about to shatter the box in his hand. Midoriya’s moment of shock passed and genuine embarrassment and joy rushed through him.
“Neito! We are 14! We can’t get married!”
Neito stood up, still holding the ring. “I don’t care! You’re a goddess and I’d be damned if I didn’t claim you!”
Midoriya couldn’t help but roll his head back as he was gasping for air. “Oh my god! You’re like a possessive puppy, that’s so cute!”
“Hey! It’s romantic and I won you over with the crystal!” Monoma declared as he took the ring out of the box.
The shop owner walked over with a large smile. “Consider it a promise ring if engagement ring doesn’t suit your fancy. Monoma, tell him the ring is a symbol of your love for him and your plans to marry him."
Midoriya gasped in betrayal, looking at the woman. “Nagisa! How could you!”
The woman, now known as Nagisa, laughed, “You need a boyfriend, girlfriend, anyone. Besides, I like this one, he’s a bit of a brat but isn’t scared to show his affection. You need someone like that.”
Midoriya crossed his arms, looking at Monoma stubbornly. “Well, I don’t know why you keep coming back. I’ve turned you down every time for the about the past half year. Why would you waste so much time on trying to win someone like me over?”
Bakugo was officially broken, his eyes wide as he was about to explode the soda tightly gripped in his hands. His lackeys on the other hand were trying to hide their guilt due to seeing the effect their actions have had on Midoriya. By hiding their guilt, it was more like stuffing their face with chips while watching the scene before them as if this was the best entertainment they’ve ever seen in years.
Honestly, it was unsettling for them all to see Midoriya be the one rejecting advances. They were especially surprised to see him openly say he was quirkless and Monoma ignore Midoriya’s explanations.
Monoma dramatically took Midoriya’s wrist and held the ring close to Midoriya’s face. “This ring is a symbol of my love for you and my plans to marry you. Whether or not you accept it, I want you to know that you are a dream. God, I couldn’t even imagine someone as perfect as you. Pretty, yet talented and dedicated. Shameless per say.”
Midoriya was breathless as the ring was slipped onto his finger. The words gently but sternly spoken to him seemed to sink deep. Midoriya felt relief wash over him as tears just started falling down his face. The two watching him sudden burst into tears freaked out, worried they upset him or went too far.
Midoriya laughed as he cried, ignoring the fact Monoma hadn’t been able to fully slip on the ring. “You idiot! Don’t talk like that.”
Monoma realized it was tears of... not a negative emotion and smirked. “Oh? But it’s true. I will marry you!”
Midoriya rolled his eyes, wiping his tears. “Alright. Then you’re willing to meet my parents then?”
Nagisa, who was now cackling, lowered herself to the ground. “Oh my god! This is why I love you Izuku!”
Monoma took a deep breath before standing in a “power pose”.
“Yes! I will do it! I will get their blessing.”
Midoriya nodded, walking to his book bag and digging inside it. Walking back over he held up a necklace with an odd shaped charm on it.
“Neito, meet my dad. Dad, meet Neito.”
Nagisa must have seen it coming as she started blasting disco music. Neito looked horrified while Midoriya smugly held up a necklace containing his fathers ashes.
Bakugo and the bullies felt their hearts stop as they’ve bullied someone who’s lost their father. To make it worse, they probably bullied him the day he found out his father died and throughout the course of him trying to cope with it.
Neito immediately panicked. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t know that—!”
Midoriya waved his hand, ignoring the apology. “Lighten up. It was last year and I never met the asshole. We just got permission to have him buried over here after being cremated so me and mom just took some ashes to keep.”
Nagisa walked back over, holding a water bottle. “Yeah, I remember you coming in one day with a disappointed face. All you ever said was “my dad died before I even got to meet him. He just died. I’m literally thirteen.”
Neito seemed to chipper up, a genuine smile on his face as he looked as the necklace Midoriya was holding. “Just wondering... why don’t you wear it? You have it on a necklace.”
Midoriya shrugged, putting it into his bookbag. “Well, my bullies would probably take it from me and destroy it. They don’t really consider what I posses, they just want to ruin it.”
“How? Why? You’re amazing! What is wrong with those assholes?” Neito gasped harshly, his hands gesturing to sculpt Midoriya’s body.
Midoriya shrugged, finally admiring the ring. “I don’t know. They’ve all just treated me that way after I came out quirkless. I just don’t carry anything important on with me anymore.”
“So you won’t be wearing my ring?” Neito frowned, looking at the ring.
Midoriya smiled, taking his necklace and adding ring to the chain. Clasping the back of the necklace, Midoriya cheerfully held it up to show Monoma.
“See! I’ll always have it. Although, I will probably wear it all the time outside of school,” Midoriya suggested his plan.
Monoma smugly put his hands on his hips, pleased. Midoriya got nervous at that look, preparing himself. Monoma lunged at Midoriya, swooping the boy up and hauling him up bridal style.
“Bye, Nagisa! Im taking my fiancé out on a date.”
Midoriya shouted, reaching out for Nagisa. “We aren’t engaged!”
“You didn’t refuse my date proposal,” Monoma proudly pointed out.
Midoriya deflated, allowing himself to be carried out the store by Monoma. Nagisa happily escorted the two out before quickly telling Midoriya to play the piece for her again later. Midoriya rolled his eyes, agreeing to it as he was taken out of the store.
Midoriya sighed, looking up at Monoma. “Could you set me down?”
Monoma stopped walking, looking at Midoriya, “As long as you let me hold your hand.”
Midoriya couldn’t help but smile, looking up at Monoma. “Deal.”
Once Midoriya was back on his feet, he took off his uniform shirt to reveal a slim-fit solid red bishop long-sleeve tee. It was tucked into his pants and matched his res shoes. Throwing the uniform top into his bag, he turned to smile at Monoma.
“I just had to get off that uniform top. I wish I had planned on going out, otherwise I would’ve brought a full change of clothes. Anyway, lead the way!” Midoriya turned to flash a warm smile at the boy he was now dating.
Monoma couldn’t help but stare at Midoriya momentarily, grateful for the boy he finally achieved winning over. Taking the boys hand, Monoma smirked.
“Alright, you better get prepared. I’m about to take you out on the best first date ever.”
Midoriya smugly raised a brow, slightly squeezing back Monoma’s hand before walking forward to signal it was time to move. “Well, I’m waiting.”
Midoriya officially had caught each of his bullies by surprised. In more ways than one. All three felt anger. The problem about that was that they weren’t sure who it was directed at. Either way, Midoriya scored a sexy boyfriend and the envy of his stubborn bullies that refused to accept his success.
