I can’t stop laughing at the mental image of James Madison sobbing on a ski lift.
She looked at me like i had grown two heads. Her dress was absolutely drenched and I was sure if I stayed in the rain for a minute more I'd have to wake up tomorrow sneezing.
"My knees are kind of hurting now.." I said in between laughs, "an answer right about now would be nice." My worry only grew as I saw her face held no trace of amusement.
Did I mess up? Or did I... - Her eyes were back to being lifeless and emotionless.. Like they were whenever she'd talk about her father. No!
Suddenly, as if something in her snapped, she took off- running out of the park. She ran as fast as her feet could carry her, slipping a few times because of the rain. My heart broke seeing how frantic she was.. Running away as if she were prey.
To my horror she ran onto the streets.. Thank God its late night and the streets are empty.. This girl is going to be the death of me.
"Cara! Cara.. Wait, please!" I ran after her. If she thought she could just run away from me and my feelings and her emotions, she's wrong. "Cara stop... Please!" I can't let her run away.. from us!
"Cara?! STOP!" I screamed as loud and clear as my cracked voice would allow me...,"Please. " She stood deathly still - well as still as she could be while crying- a street light illuminating her sobbing figure.
"Was it something I said?"
No answer.
"Did I do something wrong?"
No answer.
"Why did you run?"
No answer.
I combed my fingers through my hair in frustration. "Cara at least talk to me, damn it!"
"I DON'T DESERVE IT, OKAY?! I don't deserve ANY of it! Not your time, not your effort, not you and definitely not your love."
A deathly silence ensued which put a wall of sorts between us. She stood rooted to her spot and i couldn't help but feel my heart twist and clench in pain.
I took a step forward only to have her step - no, flinch back-... Well, ouch.
"Cara, who told you so? Who was it? Who told you that you didn't dese-"
"He did. She did. They ALL did... Damon, I would've brushed it off if it were just him but...How can ALL of them be wrong?!"
I couldn't tell what hurt more at this point. The ankle I twisted while running after her, my heart that shattered one word at a time.. Or the fact that there were years of hurt and tears behind every smile she put up.
"Cara, I won't go about reciting a cheesy monologue now because.. Well, I don't want you to punch me. So no, I will not say you deserve the moon and the stars and blah blah blah.. What I will say is," I took a deep breath in, this is it!
"I can only give you what I have to give. It may not be what you want or deserve.. But it is definitely something that you need, I need... We need. So, Cara, right now I don't have the power to heal you.. But i promise you that you will heal, I will heal..That we will heal--together. I offer you my love and I damn well have enough love to last a lifetime and then some...... I mean sure, its not good enough for you to deserve but-," I looked down as I came to the close of my speech.
Before I could finish my sentence I felt someone jump onto me and smash their lips on mine. She wrapped her legs around my waist and tangled her fingers in my hair.
I'm going to take that as a sign that I did well. Woot woot! Did I really just say 'wppt woot'? I'm a grown man for heaven's sake. Jeez.
We broke apart, out of breath, and rest our foreheads against each other's.
"Don't you ever say you're not good enough for me."
She giggled a bit as she jumped off of me and I bit back a groan of frustration as she took her warmth with her. "Oh, and by the way?...
... Yes"
It took me a second to realise.. And when I did I'm pretty sure I made her want to reconsider her decision, given the way I was jumping and squealing. I vaguely remember lifting her and spinning her around as she laughed freely, before i slipped the ring on her finger.
We walked together, hand in hand, getting drenched in the rain. For the first time I was myself without a care in the world.. Not caring who saw or judged or envied. I had her hand in mine and that's all that mattered... Other than the fact that she also agreed to be mine.. Yea.. You get the point. Dammit I just HAD to be awkward and ruin a fuzzy romantic story.

Thank you for the tag, @terezis! All my published fics are almost-entirely centred around Turmeric's tapdole disaster journey so I will also have to dip into some unpublished stuff, but here we go-

As unfortunate as it is for Ulder, Wyrm's Rock Fortress is the best place to regroup after the fall of the Absolute, and the tower – the former-Archduke Gortash's quarters – the most suitable location to organise the efforts.
(Bit of a run-on, here. You can really tell I've started to lean into endless dashes as punctuation since the beginning of the series.)

There's nothing like the smell of a Nosferatu – the pungent aroma of sewer drain mixed with the all the revolting fragrance of a festering sore – which, unfortunately, Therese knows all too well.
It's quite clear with all these in a row that I try to introduce the perspective character within the first line - unless it starts with dialogue I guess - but I do like to make it clear who we're with and who we're following as soon as possible.

I made Klearrhishkminal in the game for fun a while ago, so I thought I ought to share her so you could all see why Turmeric was (and still is) so enamored with her. I mean, look at her, she's gorgeous!
She's a pretty important character for someone who's literally been dead the whole time- or at least, I like to think so, I hope that impression comes across. She is the entire reason for Turmeric, well, being called Turmeric for starters.
As a reminder, she is bronze and definitely not brass - if you think you've ever seen me describe her (or Ansur!) as that because they're similar words and I forgot to check and got confused, no you didn't, that never happened. Because then Turmeric's whole character quirk of having a fondness for lightning spells because her last girlfriend had lightning breath wouldn't make sense and nobody would pick up on it! (I do hope some people have picked up on that, it's a subtle little thing, but it's there. (because we carry those we love with us, long after they're gone, after all))

Going to be a slight delay on the next chapter, I'm afraid- I'd had something of a light headache the past few days that's made it difficult to focus on things, and I haven't been sleeping too well, so I'm aiming for the 30th of this month instead- hopefully, I should feel better by then.
And, hopefully, there shouldn't be egregious delays moving forward- after the next chapter we will be moving firmly out of the set-up period and into the proper meat, which should, fingers crossed, excite me enough to write to power through any body pain distractions.

How could you tell?
Unfortunately options for chair-eating are limited in-game but I had to let my girl get her enrichment somehow so I went around smashing every chair I could and pretending that counted (they should give dragonborns a bite ability, those chompers could so some damage if they wanted to), which is how I, quite happily, stumbled across the Club of Hill Giant Strength which I then let her use for the rest of the game because of course.
LOOK AT HER, SHE'S SO PRETTY, SHE'S SO CUTE. I'd let her eat every chair in my house, and so should you-
She's a blue dragonborn so she can spew lightning as well, which is objectively the coolest breath weapon to have. This blue colouration, with the little highlights of gold looks so good to me- it kind of reminds me of the giant adra statue in Pillars of Eternity, if people know what that is. And the mellow fruit dye on her armour, she's just *chef's kiss*. I am never not thinking of her.
Her run was started mostly from me wanting to see what all this Durge stuff was about, and also wanting to romance Gale because his nerdy charms had bewitched me, so my profile picture is actually from a screencap of her the moment after she finished very happily stabbing Gale to death!

This (final!) part is for Priqrin, introduced in chapter 5.
No mods used this time, it's all base game stuff including dyes. I love love love the way dragonborns look in this game, I could spend the whole day just creating different dragonborns and then just staring at them. (Someone ask my about my other Tav, Eats Chairs, sometime - I want an excuse to show pictures of her she looks great.)
Priqrin -
We haven't been over his backstory much yet, but he's a draconic sorcerer (white) on top of being a dragonborn, so he's the most dragon someone can be without being an actual dragon. His main class is wizard though, because he preferred to learn magic through researching and understanding it rather than relying on instinct, like a total scholar nerd - though his wizard robes are still in black and white, to honor that draconic heritage.
I also gave him a tail, just to enhance that dragon connection. He's very proud of being so dragon-like, and having multiple types of dragon in his blood.
So his colouration is black, and then, uh, black again (the white ones didn't look right, so I used a black one that had a border of white - it counts as white, okay? I mean Rilice doesn't even use green for her scales, she's got a variation of silver because it looked better, it's fine, no-one's scales are actually using the colour they're meant to be, it's fine!) There's a hint of red there, too, around the back of his head flaps which I think looks nice and cute and sinister.
His surname he uses briefly was just from me getting the Draconic words for black and white from the fan wiki and then smooshing them together - but that's mostly because I don't think he actually has a surname in an official capacity either, he's just used to people expecting to hear them, so he throws that in now. (But then Wyll introduced him and Turmeric by first name only, because he's a sweet boy who realised she might feel awkward being the only one without, so Priqrin just had to be like, "oh, okay, I guess I'm the weird one here.")
Not that much else to say about him, because we haven't learned all that much about him yet. I'm sure I'll think of more to add when the story unfolds a little more, but, at the very least, there are no more people to introduce from now on! Our cast (the original characters at least) are all here now!
Apolocheese if this is a question you've already answered, but I was wondering, if Tumeric was a companion in bg3 rather than the player-character, what would her story be like throughout Act 1, 2 & 3? Her personal quests etc? Would it follow the same beats as Graveyards? And how could a Tav influence the outcome? I hope this question makes sense lol - and no pressure to answer!!

Oh, no bother at all - thank you so much, I very much appreciate the chance to ramble about my disaster girl - and what a long ramble it has become, I'm going to have to add a read more in there.
Turmeric's arc as a companion probably wouldn't really start until Act 2, I think. Before then, she might talk about Klear as the person who got her into being a bard if you had high approval and pushed her a little, but other than that she wouldn't be sharing anything. To compensate for the lack of information in that regard, she'd encourage whoever the player character was to talk about themselves instead (which would probably mean a multiple choice backstory for custom Tavs), which she would hope would also have the rather convenient side effect of getting them to trust her more, if it worked.
That aloof but friendly image would start to break a little in Act 2, especially if you brought her to areas like the House of Healing, or if she was there when you saw Isobel for the first time - giving you a chance to jump in and ask her if there's something wrong. You'd have a few chances at perception/insight and then persuasion checks depending on where you took her too. If you had high approval she might come to you herself in a long rest and tell you she's... familiar with the area, if she thinks sharing her knowledge of the place might help - but I think if you played it right, and missed/failed all of those checks and then played it right, it would be entirely possible to get through the whole game with her without ever learning a single thing about her past.
If you passed those checks, she'd admit her past as a nurse in the House of Healing to you, but she wouldn't go beyond that. Knowing about her past would change her comments around the Shadow-cursed Lands, though- she'd openly talk about what it used it be like there/people she used to know/parts of it she didn't know about/how things have changed.
The conclusion of her Act 2 arc would depend on whether you knew about her past/whether you brought her to final confrontation in Moonrise. If you knew about her past but didn't bring her, she'd just stay back at camp and talk to you about what happened later. If you didn't know and didn't bring her, she'd just turn up by herself anyway because the pressure of keeping it all to herself would drive her to confront Ketheric anyway.
Either way, if she's turned up by herself, or if you chose to bring her along, she'll get kidnapped by Ketheric when he takes Aylin as well (like in More Graves to Dig, but she wouldn't have the prism with her, so they'd just teleport straight there as he normally does with Aylin, no need to complicate things) and what happens in the confrontation in the mindflayer colony will depend on whether you know about her past.
If you know, it's up to you - you do all the talking, and if you manage to talk Ketheric into the pit she'll run away from him and rejoin the group, if you don't and you're just fighting Ketheric, she'll start the fight prone and on a fixed low initiative as Ketheric throws her to the ground and out of the way - he might attack her, but he'll only aim to knock her and not kill her- he still needs her for his little plan, after all.
If you don't know - she'll do the talking, manage to convince Ketheric into the pit, and then immediately let herself get killed by Myrkul.
Unlike the fic, you'd then get a chance from Withers after the fight to go into the fugue plane waiting room and talk to her, if you want to (you can just choose to leave her dead and not bother if you'd rather) - finally having a definite chance to learn about her past even if you failed all the checks before. You get a chance to convince her you want her alive even if she's a bit of a liar, easier depending on how high your approval is with her, and if you succeed she'd promise to tell you the rest of it, and then you get a dramatic cutscene of her coming back to life in your arms like a disney princess that people would use for romantic model swaps all the time.
If you fail to convince her, she'd stay dead, and you'd get a shot of her corpse in the cutscene when you left the shadow-cursed lands - grim if you didn't break the curse, a touch hopeful if you did- flowers blooming around her, new life, that sort of thing.
At the start of Act 3, if she was alive, she'd tell you about the rest of her history- like Exhuming the Past- though probably using the tadpole connection for some visuals so that her just talking wouldn't bore the player to death. You could really easily get her approval from Neutral 0 to Exceptional 100 right here just by accepting her and comforting her at regular intervals, which would help later- I think I'd put it just after killing either Orin or Gortash, whoever you went with first- when you'd get a cutscene with her where you could talk about your player characters plans for the future after you defeat the Absolute, and you'd get your chance to romance her here - yeah, you wouldn't even get a chance to start a romance with her until Act 3 (you could try to flirt before, but she'd laugh it of or deflect and it wouldn't really go anywhere). But, she's polyamorous - so you could romance someone in the meantime if they're chill with polyamory, which would merge very nicely with Halsin's romance if you're otherwise only dating him (undoubtedly leading to some of the horniest party banter you've ever heard between them).
OR, in a way round learning about her past at all - in a cheaty/meta-y/safeguard way - if she was already dead for whatever reason before you went to Moonrise and you only resurrected her with Withers after the fight with Myrkul was over, that part of the quest just wouldn't trigger and you could skip over it without her getting kidnapped, or learning about her past. This would effectively end the quest and skip the rest of her storyline as well (including the chance to romance her), as it would be too late for her to consider talking about her past now, so up until the epilogue all you would really know about her is she's just some bard from Baldur's Gate, which is kinda funny.
