So, I wanted some people's opinion on one of my Skulduggery oc's. I'm trying to figure out what his normal form looks like when he's not using his abilities.
Just for people who are unaware, Alistair's falls under adapt, and is the ability to take the form of a person, using an item tied to them or even a bone, hair and a piece of skin. The person needs to be dead for him to become them. He doesn't necessarily need to become them fully, he can take bits of their appearance or personality and make them a part of him.
The version of Alistair that you guys have seen isn't truly what Alistair looks like, it's just him using different parts of people that he's integrated into his appearance, not maliciously but more as a defence mechanism or just self consciously. So I'm now trying to determine what he truly looks like now, and that's why I wanted to do this poll.
Here is an explanation of the choices:
Blank Slate= his original appearance before his surge, white hair and clouded eyes, like the start of character customation at the start of a game.
Uncanny Valley Blank Slate= similar to the normal blank slate, but there is something wrong looking about him, maybe it's his limbs, his smile, his eyes or his freakish height. Idea behind this is that his surge made him look inhuman, and now the only way foe him to be human is to be constantly someone else.
No change= the same as what you have seen already, just the boi.
Alistair Montague, born 1920 in France to a family who ran a travelling circus. From the age of ten, Alistair would train with the trapeze artists and occasionally assist in shows if a trapeze artist was out for the performance. His family had no known history of sorcery, so he wasn't aware of it till the oracle who travelled around with them taught him about it. It turned out she was a sensitive, and would teach him about the different disciplines. At age 19, he enlisted in WW2 on the side of the allies. While there, he encountered many of his higher ups, some of them being past soldiers from WW1, one being a man, Major Thompson.
Alistair went through his surge during the war, and went MIA. Alistair's ability fell under the adapt category, a quite macabre ability to temporarily take on parts of someone's appearance to his own, he only needs a belonging or an item associated with that person, the only drawback is that the person's soul becomes tethered to him and has a chance of possessing him.
His surge started off with him hearing the voices of people in his head, some speaking in the German language and some familiar voices of fallen comrades, this was happening because he had kept some of the belongings of his comrades, and some shotgun shells tethered to other souls. It got too much for him while his troop was wading through marshland and he got left behind. Some nearby townspeople found him and brought him in, turns out that the town was full of sorcerers that helped him through it. He was able to make his way back to the last place his family would've been, but found out that most of them had dispersed after hearing that he was reported MIA.
When the war ended, he managed to travel to England and start a small detective job in the English Sanctuary. Reports of activity from the Church of the Faceless started coming in, then without warning, the Sanctuary gave him a job that hit too close to home. Major Thompson had been murdered in his home, and it was suspected that he was part of a group that worshipped the Faceless Ones. He was poisoned with a chemical that was given to all members of the group incase they were found out, but after investigating, they found an untouched vial next to his bedside dresser in his bedroom that turned out to be his. That meant that another member had to have done it. Alistair asked the family's permission to take one of Thompson's belongings, an ornate pocket watch.
The investigation was nearing an end when Alistair was called in by one of the Grand Mages, who told him that the investigation was being given to another investigator, though this one was know to be an easily bribeable one. Alistair tried to convince the Grand Mage to let him continue, but as he was about to, it clicked, the Grand Mage had something to do with this, didn't he? So Alistair left with no more hassle, got home and took out the Major's pocket watch to find out one more key detail, but the Major wanted something in compensation.
A week later, Alistair was in a meeting with the Grand Mage who was telling Alistair that he had been sacked from the job, but as he was beginning to finish his talk, The Grand Mage collapsed dead in his seat. In the commotion, Alistair ran out of the room and threw the pack of cigarettes and the vial of poison to the crumpled corpse of the Grand Mage's advisor, whom he had killed earlier.
Now in the present, Alistair is still semi wanted from the English Sanctuary for his crimes, but has managed to evade them, for now.
Declan stalked closer to the opening in the trees, his eyes settling on the figure standing, looking down at the water. It was still and unmoving, taking slow but shaky breaths in and out. He had never seen the figure up close but now, he had a good look at him. The clothes he wore hung loosely on his body, almost all hint of muscle gone, a stark difference to what Arthur had said he looked like before prison.
While Declan's mind trailed off, he failed to notice that the figure slowly got closer to the water and was now knee deep in it. Finally Declan noticed what he was doing, " Telo-" he was cut off as the man sunk into the water, no thrashing or screaming just, silence.
"Didn't think I'd ever see you?" Declan was ready to turn around to face the voice when a large calloused hand covered his mouth. He was about to bring his elbow forward to jab his attacker when an impact on he ankles sent him falling forward as the hand's grip loosened.
Next thing he knew, he was face flat in the mud. He lifted himself up and for a moment, he could see what looked like blood begining to mix with the mud, before he felt a boot push down on his back and he was back down in the muck. The pressure on his back lifted as he rolled himself over, ready for any punches or kicks, but he stopped, and stared in both curiosity and confusion, he had just saw him fall into the- "My reflection, that's what you saw fall into the lake"."So it was the same man" Declan thought as his attacker straitened himself up and he could see him in all his glory.
"You're not Telostare" Declan said, begining to feel agitated, but that agitation was washed away with a feeling of fear as the man looked at him with a manic smile oozing with malice. "I am not Telostare" he bent down and was now inches from his face. "My name is Melifesto."
Reblog this with the elevator pitch of your OC verse because at this point I am very interested and you just know you want to talk about it
Been playing around with lighting :P
Having an OC story and characters that you’re overly invested in is really just being in a fandom hell with yourself and no one else
Tfw you accidentally destroy and entire city when you’re like 6 and you still feel bad about it.
(Feel free to use as a reaction image I know I certainly do)
I present to you some more meme image redraws because what's the point of OC's if not to have some fun with them.
The mess eating noodles is Sen, the official MC and Tora may or may not have adopted his little trouble making ass as his unofficial younger brother because i'm a sucker for found family
sometimes I make ocs but when I start to make a story I end up giving up and never coming back to it but I want to make my own story with my own characters so I’m taking things slow but anyway here is my beginning story
STORY
Faran is the human main character he’s working at a potion shop but he wants to learn spell book magic he works at this shop with his best friends trenni the mice hybrid they’ve been friends for 2 years and today was a slow day for them like all days in the middle ground .
WORLD
the middle ground is the place between the north wall full of the nagas while the south is full of hybrids the middle has a almost even amount of humans and hybrids the middle ground is small there’s at most 700 to 1000 people while in the north wall there’s the about 3000 to 5000 the south wall has the most land with over 10000 people there
so I as a said faran and trenni are having a slow day when the hear a BANG they go out to check and see two hybrids but how did they get there well…
STORY
meet Dareen the mongoose hybrid she hates human and nagas so does everyone else in the south kingdom the king says that there are 3 kingdoms and the south kingdom is the only safe one but her friend auri doesn’t believe him so he decides to go to the Middle Kingdom Dareen being in love with auri follows him to the middle ground .
SOUTH KINGDOM/ WALL
the south is set back to the 1800s the king want power and if they knew there were other places with more freedom they would all leave so he made sure there’s are no modern day things he tells lies about the middle ground and north wall saying there kingdom full of monsters like human and naga when the south kingdom is the only kingdom the other two are just towns .
NORTH WALL
the north wall also doesn’t have a lot of new modern day things but there is a lot more then in the south kingdom the north wall has 1990s technology at best there are 65 groups with 75 to 100 people so there are 50 to 75 adults and 25 - 50 kids all the people in the north wall are nagas or prey most prey are deer witch the naga breed sometimes when there lucky a human or hybrid and the groups end up havein a 1 to 2 week long war about .
MIDDLE GROUND
100% modern day things it’s so Small there are just 3 major one for the south middle one for the middle middle and one for the north middle
FUN FACTS
All nagas have have magic
80% of nagas have human forms
It’s called the north wall and the south because two big 100 feet tall walls were made 10000 years by peaceful nagas and hybrids because the hybrids and nagas were having wars and the hybrids would be eaten after the wars soo yeah not good
the north wall is COLD which is not good when your a naga so they sleep during the winter
the north wall is not that effective because like 10 nagas go to the middle ground from each year the naga are just SO LONG and Just eat hybrids prey and hide in their human from.

I’m writing a scene between Valdemar, my OC Cairo, and Navra. While listening to music.
So the song Nobody by Mitski comes on and I’m vibin then I realized...
I CAN INCORPORATE THIS!
SO
After Cairo and Valdemar broke up Cairo is just getting over them. About to start seeing Navra. At the masquerade Valdemar was talking to another doctor and while Cairo was doing their own thing. Navra and Cairo are smiling and joking and she walks off probably for food. They pick up on a distant convo. From a certain set of Doctors. Julian, Nazali, and Valdemar? Maybe?
"Valdemar, who are you staring at."
They(Cairo) turn around with a bright smile and they make eye contact. The smile fades instantly.
"Nobody, don't worry about it."
Cairo, heartbroken all over again because they thought they were at least someone to Valdemar since...they were engaged since they were 27. They run off to the restroom, and stare in the mirror repeating the word “Nobody” in the mirror saying it to themself, sobbing. Navra hears them get louder when as the sadness starts to turn to anger and then it slowly slips into defeat as they collapse to the floor. Dramatic? Yes. Needed? Probably...not? Connection with Navra? Will get stronger. Valdemar? Going to get their ass kicked. Hotel? Trivago. Oh and I started sobbing myself while writing the scene...I need a therapist.
So, I somehow spent 12 hours on this. Wanted to show off with/without the magic because it hid some of the details on the bone hands, and I was very proud of them. This is an oc of mine I use for various things, and she changes for my needs, but primarily, this is Zemipha. She/they, the demon goddess of death, fire, chaos, magic, stars, and stories.
I know that sounds like a lot, but remember, I use them as a jack of all trades character, taking and adding aspects as needed.
One of the big things is the narrative would usually have her be evil but she never is, she's death but prefers it when humanity is prospering (all come to them in due time, what need does she have of war to bring them in sooner?), fire but more warmth, cooking, wildfire than arson, the chaos of a prank not that of insanity, etc.
The title of demon goddess came from her being a fallen angel, not from rebellion of evilness like many other demons typically do, but from them refusing to conform to heavens standards and both too kind and not kind enough to be a proper angel. They refused to have anything to do with hell, so they went out on their own.
As she mingled with humanity they began to assign domains to her and worshipped her, leading her to ascend to actual godhood.
That's all I have for now. If you have questions or are curious about anything, I'd love to answer.
