Paul McCartney and Linda Eastman (later McCartney) at the Sgt Peppers Lonely Clubs Heart Band press launch, May 19th, 1967.
This was Paul and Linda's second meeting after they met 4 days prior at a Georgie Fame concert while Linda was with the Animals, and Paul was with some friends on May 15, 1967. Yesterday was 58 years since the couple first met. (X)
ON THIS DAY, May 15th 1967, LINDA EASTMAN & PAUL McCARTNEY met for the first time at the Bag O’ Nails club.
“ Across a crowded room, as they say, our eyes met and the violins started playing ... There was an immediate attraction between us. As she was leaving -- she was with the group the Animals, whom she’d been photographing –- I saw an obvious opportunity. I said: “My name’s Paul. What’s yours?” I think she probably recognised me. It was so corny, but I told the kids later that, had it not been for that moment, none of them would be here. Later that night, we went on together to another club, the Speakeasy. It was our first date and I remember I heard Procol Harum’s A Whiter Shade of Pale for the first time. It became our song. “

Once in a life I’m a lucky man If I can find the kind of love That’s gonna last for me
Twice in a lifetime Is one of those unspoken dreams We usually reserve for fantasy
Who knows how we find love Stop before you give your answer Who knows when a mystery begins
I know, I know I know because it’s happening to me I know, I know
Twice in a Lifetime (1983).
Paul by Linda, 1968
What I liked about Paul when I lived there in London [September and October 1968] was the books that were around and painting. Paul would say, ‘Let’s paint,’ and he and Ivan Vaughan would get paints and go down in the basement and the three of us would paint on the canvas. It was fun. Paul is so much more cerebral than people think, because he was quote ‘the cute Beatle’. I hate this ‘Was it John or was it Paul?’ thing because they were both talented. They were both artists. They are equal for number one.

I don't have a specific puzzle that makes me want to tear out my hair, but the matchstick puzzles always get to me. They're clever, and I always enjoy the answer when I see it, but it is hard for me to visualize for some reason.
