Rain World Art Month, Day 5: Looks to the Moon (Region)

Finally, after 3 days of slow work day 5 is finished ! I have a bit of catching up to do, but I'm at least quite happy with how this one turned out in the end!! When I read this prompt I immediately thought of this specific room in LttM (DM_O02)...

There's lots of stuff I could've done better with this one but I'm still, all in all, proud of it.

Spear master design!! and notes/headcanons

one hc I couldn't really add was why spearmaster doesn't have a mouth, basically when sun's was modifying genes, the genes required to be changed somehow linked to the development of their mouth/jaws. so if sun's wanted to have a spiky slucat, he was going to need to find another way for it to eat! no mouth only straw.

has SM taught the child how to draw? i think they would bond or possible communicate with drawing

SM often likes to draw out survival lessons for the slup to learn from; the strength and weaknesses of enemies, how to foster relationships, how to look out for danger, etc.

This particular lesson session isn't the first, but it IS the first time the slup has taken to mimicking SM's artistic capabilities to convey something they've been wanting to share for a while.

They didn't expect SM to be so emotionally devestated /positive by what they drew, but they're very happy that they feel similar. Despite the horrifying expression that came of it.

If Spearmaster ripped off the flesh covering where it’s mouth would be, would there just be a hole, a normal mouth, or a deformed mouth under there? Would it be able to consume food through whatever is under there?

Is the scup the type to wriggle around helplessly when SM is fighting, or do they just grab a spear and start running at the first extremely deadly thing they can spot

And SM is a little horrified by the massacre. Later they’ll feel proud by the show of strength of being able to tear a whole lizard’s leg off!

The slup has taught SM how to harmlessly play! Something SM has never really done before.

SM nearly had an entire spiral not understanding what the sluppy wanted but luckily the baby took things into their own grippers. SM definitely knows what to do next time when there's insistent grabbies in their face.

Artificer’s genocide hasn’t happened yet, meaning the scavs aren’t deathly afraid of slugpup parents. Are they buddy buddy as of now, or do they have a bad relationship with Spearmaster or the pup for whatever reason and cause issues?

Oh they best buds - bros - at the hip; sometimes they hunt together whenever SM is in town.

They made a big fuss over the mini-SM during the first meeting but more in a Where-Did-You-Come-From? and You're-So-Smol! kind of fuss rather than a negative first impression.

There was a lot of poking and prodding from both the Scavengers and the little Scup.

Uh OH Did I find pups as Spearmaster and think about it too much? You're godt damnt right I did and here are my thoughts you're forcing yourself to read. I imagine scups would be terrified of Spearmaster since he's an abomination of a slugcat, consequences of being an early purposed organism include but aren't limited to...

No mouth! Instead it's the outline of one horrifyingly, like someone opening their mouth under a mask or something tight on their face.

Absolutely skin and bones because of an unnatural way of feeding through the spear straws.

Chest hole with weird tubes showing bones because thanks pebbles :)

Dead eyes that aren't from blindness but odd genomes lacking pigment because thanks Suns :)

No mouth means no tongue to be able to groom themself with; super dirty - and bloody from thanking pebbles in person - and super unruly fur.

Can't even communicate in Scug so can't go 'Oh I'm not mean I swear!' literally can't, unless scugs got some hand motions/body language. Which Spearmaster can't even DO since he's an artificial Scug and never learned the language.
