That's how I ended up in space in the first place
A tall ghoulish looking man with a green robe and strange symbols on his cheeks comes up to you and says "hey sexy. Drink this"
Would you?
Ever lie down and just look up at the star?

It's like treasure planet but instead of having treasure inside it has another planet inside. I call it planet planet

That is a space accountant, their job is to make sure every star is accounted for

See? If you look up at space for long enough, you are bound to see a shooting star

Can I hitch a ride to the next system?

I think it’s time to read this again
The Sith Lords, of course, we all knew of them I knew that the stories were true of them But all we had planned Had got quite out of hand When realized we, “Now there are two of them!” - Mod B
Me, after reading Kindred by Octavia Butler:
My tribute to : "The Space Merchants"
by Frederik Pohl and C.M. Kornbluth
In a lot of sci-fi universes, aliens:
Are more advanced than us
Know of more than 2 genders
Don’t work dead-end jobs
Find use for everyone in society
Have eliminated poverty
Have eliminated homelessness
Have eliminated illness
Have eliminated waste
Are generally a lot happier than humans
Be more like Aliens
I picked this up on a recommendation and I am really enjoying it. It was published in 1981 but doesn't feel old. Perhaps because it is sci-fi and there aren’t any obvious items to date it. I’m not very far in but so far it has me hooked.
The list below shows the 16 Nuclear Reactors currently operating in the UK. It was taken from the World Nuclear web site at
http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/Country-Profiles/Countries-T-Z/United-Kingdom/
I would urge those naming Nuclear Power Plants in the future, pick cool names for Nuclear Power Plants instead of simply naming them after a location. Names that come to mind are "Opportunity", "Hope", "Progress", "Our Children's Future", "Reliability" etc. In fact you could have a competition and ask local children to name the plant.
In the Iain M. Banks Science Fiction books there are ships capable of faster than light travel controlled by "Minds". "Minds" are cognitive machine and because they are cognitive they get to name themselves. There names introduce a bit of whimsy into what often is a very serious business. A bit like Nuclear Power, a serious business that would benefit from a lighter and more fun image.
A list of the names of the "Minds" appearing in some of Iain M. Banks novels is available at Wikipedia at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ships_%28The_Culture%29
I think the favourite name there that could be applied to a good Nuclear Power Plant is "Vision Of Hope Surpassed".
In addition, it might be good to hear an opponent of a Nuclear Power Plant saying something along the lines of "I don't want to see "Our Children's Future" built" or carrying placards the say "No Nukes ! Stop Hope!". Quite often this is what they really are saying but without being explicit.
Balian here (and his twin brother Xanthus) are private security agents for Perihelion Industries. They bump heads with Galen from time to time
Balian is sporting an "Escort" model man-portable railgun. The coolant runs out after about fifteen rounds, but that's okay, because the quick-change barrel lasts for about twelve. In spite of this, however, the Escort is the weapon of choice for the designated marksmen of PHI's private security forces.
Balian usually operates in full-body powered armour. On the top right is his helmet.
Below that is a profile sketch. I usually do one those before I draw someone at an angle, to help me sort out the proportions of the head and placement of the features.
Dangit, Robert, stop scaring small children with your face. Seriously. Put that away.
Prelim concept for another comic character. Robert Granger is a HR manager on the space station where James lives. He's a yappy yuppie puppy, a little too enthusiastic, and way too over-caffeinated. His outfit is a hybrid of business suit and jumpsuit, I'm gonna have to play with that some more.
This is loaded with fail... that's what I get for inking an unfinished design. Except for the scaring-small-children-face. That's a keeper.
Little sketch of another character. I spent a few hours working on military and law-enforcement gear for this setting I'm developing.
Not sure what this guy's name is... I'm calling him Galen for now, but it doesn't sit right with me.
Concept art for June and Jove, characters for a sci-fi comic. Same setting as James, but different storyline.
AI's use virtual appearances for things like video-calls and AR appearances. To make themselves instantly identifiable as AI's, but easy to relate to as people, they use appearances that are lifelike, yet unfeasible or "impossible."
The most standard element of this is to use a hybrid of animal species for a base appearance: June's a combination of rat and eland, while Jove is a mix of cat and dog. June's rigid gauntlets and boots don't cover the joints (knees and elbows, that is), which is a normally an important consideration. Jove's spandex tights... well, most spacers in this setting wouldn't be caught dead wearing something so flamboyant.
These aren't quite final designs... I'm still deciding on how to mix the features. And I'll probably be giving June a tail.
I need to work on those horns, too.

You know that story of the Russian cosmonaut? So, the cosmonaut, He's the first man ever to go into space. Right? The Russians beat the Americans. So he goes up in this big spaceship, but the only habitable part of it's very small. So the cosmonaut's in there, and he's got this portal window, and he's looking out of it, and he sees the curvature of the Earth for the first time. I mean, the first man to ever look at the planet he's from. And he's lost in that moment. And all of a sudden this strange ticking... Begins coming out of the dashboard. Rips out the control panel, right? Takes out his tools. Trying to find the sound, trying to stop the sound. But he can't find it. He can't stop it. It keeps going. Few hours into this, begins to feel like torture. A few days go by with this sound, and he knows that this small sound... will break him. He'll lose his mind. What's he gonna do? He's up in space, alone, in a space closet. He's got 25 days left to go... with this sound. So the cosmonaut decides... the only way to save his sanity... is to fall in love with this sound. So he closes his eyes... and he goes into his imagination, and then he opens them. He doesn't hear ticking anymore. He hears music. And he spends the sailing through space in total bliss... and peace.

Dylan Thomas : Do not go gentle into that good night
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Morpheus: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
