Somewhere in New Mexico 2010
In 2010 I moved from Miami Florida to Los Angeles California. It was a great trip. I packed all my stuff in my Honda and took two months off to drive across the country.
I wound up spending most of my time camping out in the mountains of New Mexico. I was traveling by mysef and let me tell you, sleeping alone in the pitch black darkness of the New Mexican wilderness was .... creepy.
Whoa.
I remember one day I decided to go for a hike. I walked up a mountain trail following a small creek into the wilderness. After I had wandered for a few miles I found, growing by the water, a wild cherry tree covered with cherries. The cherries were ripe and almost black and so sweet.
So I sat down by the creek and made a lunch of wild cherries and cool mountain stream water. In the middle of the wilderness. No one there except for me and God.

During my trip I drew in my moleskine a lot. It was during that trip that I hit upon drawing with red and black sharpies. The above drawing is from my moleskine. I was feeling deep into the colors and imagery of the American Southwest.
I've returned to this motif several times since then. Here is one I did around 2016.

Little Boxes - Pete Seeger
Colored pencil & black sharpie
Los Angeles 2019
One day, a couple of years ago, I was looking around the apartment for something to draw when my eyes landed on three boxes, stacked upon one another, in the corner of our dining area.
So I quickly sketched them in pencil.
It was an OK drawing and I still have it lying around here somewhere but after I had drawn the boxes in pencil I got out my sharpie and redrew them in ink.
The result was nice..

This got me stared drawing boxes. I drew boxes at home. I drew boxes at work. I drew boxes in my moleskine. I drew boxes.
I soon cut the stack down to two boxes because it looked better.

I drew these boxes over and over. Like about thirty times.

Why did I keep draw these boxes?
Here's why.
When I look at these boxes I always get this erie feeling of...
Time is standing still.
I don't know why, but it gives me tickle.

I know the signature is upside down.
But so is the drawing.

Black sharpie in my moleskin
Earwax cafe Chicago, 2000
Is the Earwax cafe still open? Anyone in Chicago? I used to go there and drink esspresso coffee and doodle in my moleskin.
Sipping a warm cup of coffee while just outside there'd be a raging cold midwestern blizzard. I loved Chicago.

I was hoping to do more art over break, but have just now recovered enough to sit at my desk for long enough. Not COVID as I initially feared, but some other respiratory thing got me. Not that the people from urgent care told me what it was, just sent me straight off to the pharmacy. I can mostly breathe now though, si that’s much improvement.
It’s been so long since I’ve done art. This felt so good.
It’s finals week, my family may have been exposed via my aunt who teaches at my sister’s school, and the holidays are coming up. I really needed this break from stress.
Corruptober 2020 Day 13: Rain
Corruptober 2020 Day 14: Candle
@zrex-utau
I’m so so so far behind this week. Multiple school projects, caring for my grandfather, and visiting my boyfriend took over my life, particularly the schoolwork.
I actually did these while with my boyfriend. He knows art helps me and how being behind upsets me, and so he made time for me to work on catching up. I sketched them out as he napped next to me, very cutely I might add, and I inked them as he spoke on the phone with his friend.
Don’t you just hate it when you find a detatched arm in the rain? And teeth start falling from your candle?
Corruptober Day 4: Engrossed
@zrex-utau
My boyfriend loves foxes, so I thought I would give one a try. I quite like how it turned out!
Wishing I had more color options. Eventually I will. Even so, I like how it turned out.
Flowers and gems. Started it yesterday. Finished it today. Days like this remind me why I started doing art again. Thinking is hard. School is hard. But drawing means I can sometimes put all of that to the side and do something I enjoy. It helps me focus. It helps me reboot. Life is hard. But that’s why we have art.
I do adore those clouds though. And for mountains, those are fairly good for me.
My favorite part of this piece is definitely the clouds. Least favorite is the dot of bird shit Voldemort decided to add underneath that bottom planet.
This guy right here, decided he would take 5 seconds to “improve” my 2 1/2 hour drawing. Thanks..
My first attempt at making not only an OC, but at a DnD character of mine. I definitely plan on playing with the color scheme, but that’s what I had available today.
This is Aetyr. They are a halfling warlock, obtaining power through their boyfriend Hades. Aetyr was a noble who initially sought out Hades to learn the power of the undead. After spending months in the underworld, Aetyr fell for Hades and Persephone. This tiny 2’9” halfling was not only brave enough to seek out power from the gods themselves, but to get two to fall in love with them.
I had intended on coloring the flowers themselves, likely with silver, but I absolutely love how they turned out in just black and white. It’s rare that I actually like my own art, let alone to adore something like this. I really need to get back into using my pens and markers. So much fun, and it looks so clean..!
A piece I did to show my love for my (future) boyfriend.
I haven’t decided when I’m going to ask him out yet. I know I’m ready now, after leaving my ex-fiance, but the timing has to be right, you know? I was going to last week when I saw him, but had a really bad day emotionally, possibly tomorrow though..!
Found a bunch of old stuff cleaning. And made an image macro.
