W.I.P of my new story

A little over five years ago

“I don’t want to do it.” Luke Skywalker said to his father.

“It’s not about what you want!” Anakin snapped. “You’re sixteen Luke, you aren’t having a baby.”

“Then I want to live with mom.” Luke said icily. Tears filled his eyes, but he refused to let them spill.

“The courts appointed me your legal alpha guardian when your mother and I got a divorce.” Anakin said triumphantly.

“They also said once I was thirteen it was up to me who I wanted to live with and that I could change my mind at any time.” Luke reminded him. “If you are going to try and force an abortion on me then I choose mom. I already called and talked to her, she said she’ll help me raise it after I move in. She’s already on her way.”

“This is all that Biggs boys fault.” Anakin said. “I knew he was a bad influence, I never should have let you date him.”

“As if you could have stopped me.” Luke snapped. “And at least Biggs is willing to be there for me through this, even if I’m in another state. At least he wants to support his child and be there for them. Unlike you.”

Smack!

Luke recoiled in shock as his father struck him across the face. Stunned he placed a hand to his cheek and stepped backwards.

“I have sacrificed everything for you!” Anakin screamed. “I fed you, clothed you, kept a roof over your head for the past sixteen years! You should be grateful! Instead you’re throwing away your future for what? A chance at a life with some knot head who will probably cheat on you and leave you and the kid behind for some younger prettier thing somewhere down the road?”

“Biggs would never do that to me.” Luke argued.

“Oh please he’s still a teenager, even if he’s legally an adult.” Anakin said. “High school romances never work out for kids the same age, let alone ones with a two year age gap. It’s bound to fall apart at some point.”

“You don’t know that!” Luke cried, still holding his cheek.

“I do and I know where you’ll be once it does.” Anakin argued. “Bitter and regretting ever having a kid with him in the first place.”

“I’m not you.”

Luke’s eyes widened as the words left his mouth. He’d said them before he even thought of them. He desperately wished he could take them back, but he knew nothing he said would make things any better.

Anakin’s face darkened.

“Get your things and get out.” He said, his voice as cool as steel.

Luke tried not to cry as he ran to his room to gather his stuff. Tried not to think about how this would be the last time he set foot in his childhood home. The last time he’d see his father if he could help it.

Present Day

Luke sighed as he turned off the car. Forcing a smile he turned around to look at the dark curly haired little girl in the backseat.

“Got the flowers for daddy Padma?” He asked.

“Yup!” Padma cried, holding up a bouquet of calla lilies. “I kept them safe the whole way!”

“That’s my girl.” Luke said, reaching back and ruffling her hair.

“Is Daddy going to be here this time?” Padma asked as Luke got her out of the car.

“He’s there every time sweetie.” Luke said sadly, “we just can’t see him.”

“But someday we will, right?” Padma asked.

“Yes, someday a long, long time from now we’ll see him again.” Luke promised, grabbing her hand and leading her down a path.

A few minutes later they stopped in front of a tombstone.

“Hey Biggs.” Luke whispered, staring down at it.

“Hi daddy!” Padma cried. “Look, we brought you flowers again! Just like we do every year!”
