Okay but one of my favorite moments in RGU for me is in the final episode where the student council members are just chilling and hanging out and cooking some barbecue while Utena is literally dying—
And then Juri just starts telling this really depressing story and everyone goes along with it except for Nanami, who’s like “Why did you tell us this.” >:(
Juri: Yeah there was this guy who saved my sister from drowning, but he ending up dying in the end 😔 it’s such a shame, I can’t even remember his name

Found an ancient usenet thread about the names of the duels in utena, and that each of the duels follows a hegelian progression for each character, and how there's 21 duels which means it can map on to the major arcana of the tarot... i am about to gnaw through the fence of my enclosure rn
Continuously in awe of how much symbolism there is in the funny gay sword show
I cant help but admire how efficiently utena was animated. They were like yeah lets hire a specific guy to animate an intricate rotating staircase and then use that cut a dozen times. Lets (presumably) rotoscope some swordfighting and then retrace that animation for other duels. Theres so much reused animation but a lot of it is done cleverly... any other show this would probably annoy me but for some reason it doesnt here.

I’m crying of happiness right now. I just got the news that almost all Latin American Spanish dubbed episodes of Utena have been found. From the dubbed ones only episode 26 and 28. Episodes 30-39 are still missing, but they were never aired and probably don’t exist at this point. I’m so indescribably happy.
The dub is so bad, but it makes me so happy.

This is by far, my longest animatic to date. Im sorry it took so long and that I havent released art in 4 weeks at all, but it was to work on this! I hope you all enjoy it. I know i usually post evangelion and danganronpa, but im really proud of this one. I enjoyed utena dearly and just really wanted to make something big for it, to show my appreciation!
