Thinking about the early days of Robotnik and Stone... They're both orphans with a dislike of humanity and a fascination with machines of mass destruction, so I wonder if they ever talked about their personal lives and private traumas.

"I lost you once, I can't lose you again" is not a thing that has been said platonically, ever, in any situation. That's the kind of line that I would hesitate to even write in the gayest fanfic because I would worry it's too overt, too on-the-nose homo. They were so insane for that
