#i’ll take the ambiguous but domestic ot3 happily ever after, thanks
Me all season: Ted is going back to Kansas at the end of the series. Obviously he needs to be with Henry.
Me now that it’s a reality:
“Three tickets for the Barbie movie, please?”
I can’t believe that we got a 69 minute long Jamie-centric ot3 fic with Hurt/Comfort and Jamie Needs A Hug tags as an actual canon episode of this show
the fact that they specifically framed both roy and keeley being on jamie’s wall. the fact that they specifically framed all three of them walking away together, keeley linking arms with roy before doing the same with jamie. the fact that they specifically framed jamie walking between roy and keeley when he could have gone around either one of them. my clown shoes will be squeaking all the way into next week.
the thing about ted lasso is it drove up in a bus, slammed right into me, and didn’t even stop to ask if i was okay because tonight’s episode took me by the face and said “our parents aren’t perfect and they never have been and it’s okay to love them the way we did when we were little and still be angry with them for the people they made us into and all we can try to do is be better and lead with the love before the anger” haha
TED LASSO (3x11) I’m guilty. Sorry, Jamie.
I’m sweating they are coming to me
Roy: Now, for the last fucking time, "your" is the possessive. Like "your shirt" or "your socks", whereas "you're" is a shortened version of "you are".
Jamie: My fire
Ted: The one
Beard: Desire
Colin: Believe
Trent: When I say
Sam: I
Isaac: WANT
Bumbercatch: IT
Dani: THAT
Richard: WAY
Jamie: TELL ME WHY
Roy:
Roy: Why do I even try to talk to any of you.
“the love of his life” … “unicorn” … brett, you’re killing me 👀
The way so many of the characters this episode had story beats dealing with their inner child was something so powerful to see:
Roy receives an endearingly childish shirt from his niece, which he wears and is then told that he looks happier than ever in it — and then proceeds to tell Keeley how he feels in said shirt
Rebecca is about to have a panic attack, visualizes her inner child in her place, and then works herself through the anxiety, choosing to go to the meeting because that child deserves to stand up for herself
Nate looks through his childhood things, plays the violin, and learns that all along his dad was really proud of him and just wanted him to be happy — and then he does a kind gesture for Will
Keeley reminds Rebecca that all of the men in the meeting were once little boys, and like the mirror scene, this allows her to appeal to the boys inside all of those men as she stands up to them
At one point or another, each of the characters were just kids who had all these hopes and dreams, but life happens and we all deal with shit, but by confronting the wounds they faced in their childhood and healing their inner child — the characters are allowed to grow and move on
They are boyfriends ❤️🥺

Ted lasso and Succession. The tumblr content is always making my day better.
me going on tumblr immediately after watching a new ted lasso episode to like every single recent post
ooh and I’m not done obsessing over this episode so lemme just add one more thing re: colin’s storyline. so like. I don’t know what the guidelines are for apple tv+’s content ratings and what ted lasso being tv-ma means other than that roy wouldn’t be roy without it, so idk what the guidelines are on the f slur today (although I do know that it has been said in succession at the encouragement of brian cox, but HBO Max is a whole different thing idek). but that being said… they could have kept it in. a room full of white male writers, mostly straight, middle-aged… it could have so easily been a group of people who made the conscious decision to keep the word in for “authenticity’s” sake or in the name of maintaining the weight of the moment or whatever. but they didn’t, because it’s this group of dudes, it’s this group of writers and creators who recognized that everyone would know the word that was said, and who recognized that they didn’t need to traumatize (or, in some cases, re-traumatize) their viewers just for the show’s sake. and it’s a very small gesture of goodwill that is like, the bare fucking minimum if we’re being honest, but I’m still going to applaud them for it. kudos to ted lasso for keeping it classy as always and focusing on the love more than the hate.
My family had a similar reaction and to this day I don’t feel entirely accepted. I know it could be a lot worse. But sometimes i just wish they would love this part of myself too.
I'm so very emotional about Ted Lasso specifying that "we don't care" is a a bad reaction to people coming out because that's what happened to me. I worked up all this courage and I coordinated to get my father, my mother, and my mother's boyfriend all in the same room, and my mother's reaction was, and I quote, "okay, get that scholarship in on time or I'll fucking kill you". And when I was understandably upset, some of my friends tried to convince me that I was overreacting because at least my parents weren't angry or homophobic. Being queer is a part of your identity, you can't say you "don't care" about part of your loved one's identity. Even if you're trying to show that your feelings for someone haven't changed, you're dismissing them. And just like Ted explained, you're leaving them alone.
PS, the story has a happy ending for me, my pediatrician found out how my family reacted and stood up for me to my mother, who I no longer talk to, and the rest of my family is wonderful and accepting
colin's perfect coming out scenario where the whole team reveals they're gay and then they go on oprah is actually the version of ted lasso i've been watching this whole time
I swear to god if those men in the Ted Lasso writers room pull out a sense and sensibility themed plot.
The older more emotionally reserved leading lady who conceals her emotions but desperately wants love.
The younger hopeless romantic who wants to be swept off her feet.
The hopless romantic enters into an exciting world wind romance with a rich attractive partner who showers her with attention and gifts. Unfortunately, they have a public scandal which they had already done once before and they choose their reputation over our leading lady.
Eventually, the hopeless romantic realizes that the grumpy old man who’s been looking out for her and allows her to be herself while grounding her is the one for her and they end up happily together.
Back to our other leading lady.
She ends up with the kind man who does not appear to be agreat romantic lead but boasts a quiet intimacy that makes people attach to him, including a previous relationship that is still prominent in his life. Everyone notes how good of friends they are because no one suspects there could be anything but friendship - they continuly miss chances and hold emotions close to their chests. Both putting others needs before their own happiness. Our leading lady eventually lets her guard down and allows herself to express her emotions to him instead of keeping them to herself. They too end up happily together.
Interesting how he said he *was* a straight man in America ?! So not anymore? ;)
Here is my contribution to the fandom
I call it "The Bi Ted Thesis"
someone who doesn’t watch ted lasso wouldn’t understand why watching a man NOT spit at his reflection in the mirror for once is a deeply moving and personal thing to watch, but it is. it just is. 😭
