love how neil is always up to something. a little scheme. a little plan. maybe giving a crazy statement in front of a camera. he'll probably give it in writing too if you ask him. he survived so much what's a little public beef going to do to him? perhaps even committing some murder. fixing some relationships. teaching some people that they're worth saving. antagonizing some fbi agents. iconic
andrew: happy birthday kevin [hands gift to neil]
you ever think about how neil came to the foxhole court every inch a lie but his friends made him into someone real? how he began trusting them with little parts of himself gradually, how he accepted that staying with them would mean death, and stayed anyway. about how he was their family, they were his. they were worth every every cut and bruise and scream. i will never move on from how neil found himself in the middle of these misfits, found trust and friendship and love and protection, found the wish to live instead of just survive, found the wish to stay and fight and protect instead of run away, because he finally found something worth fighting and staying and risking his life for.
you ever think about coach hernandez? of how he noticed neil's potential and that there was something going on with him and how he would perfectly fit with wymack's misfits and submitted his file to the foxes. of how he unknowingly pushed neil in the right direction to getting a real opportunity at life? how he might hear about neil on the news and be like fuck? i knew something was up but this is insane. he did such a small thing and changed the trajectory of neil's life forever
i think one of my favorite things about aftg is how it so subtly shows such a deep level of affection through languages. like kevin learning french for jean even though it is a dangerous thing to do at the nest and neil and andrew learning a new language together post tkm and one of the first things jeremy asks jean being to teach him french. i want to know who you are in your mother language, i want to speak to you in a language that no one but us understands, i want to understand the language that you dream in
the twins' relationship is one of the most interesting i've ever read. yeah they can't stand each other but they keep close anyways, they don't understand each other very well but they've killed for each other. they are assholes to each other but they will protect each other from others. they hate each other but there's so much love and resentment and maybe in another universe they grow up side by side and nothing bad ever happened to them.
thinking about the possible interactions we could get between neil and jeremy with neil's "overly nice people are unsettling and have something to hide" mentality and between andrew and jeremy with andrew's history of getting along well with and respecting kind people who choose to be good in spite of all the bad things life throws at them (renee, betsy, wymack)
