Update: I’ll be updating the list on this page from now on, since Tumblr can’t handle so many hyper-links in one post, on Dreamwidth - right here, so I won't have to update it multiple times. Please note: I keep updating this list, and updates aren't showing up on reblogs. Please check the original post for the most up to date list.
Sooo this is going to be a long comprehensive list. I got back to this game after a long time and with a different computer, with a dedicated graphics card, hurray! It made me want to return to making things, so while gathering back all the necessary stuff, I've complied this list. It might be is updated as I go along, but these are the main things I use. Maby one day i'll even finish something. So here are my go-to resources & tutorials; I'm posting it here for safekeeping, and hopefully others will find it helpful. Everything that's listed is here free. So many wonderful things for free under the cut.
Creating: Blender. Blender Addons: 3D Print Toolbox – comes with blender, enable it from within the program. Originally for 3d printing. Good for fixing flipped normals, and some quick general repairs. Source Tools And source tools wiki – for exporting as SMD!!!! (SimPe: to enable bump maps for the mesh on import). GMDC Addon for Blender 4.0+ by Nopke.
GIMP. GIMP Addons: G'MIC-Qt. Resynthesizer. Nvidia dds?. Doesn’t it come with Gimp?
Other: Nvidia Texture Tools Exporter (iirc it works with all graphic cards that are compatible, doesn’t require Nvidia). For making Normal / Bump / Cube Maps. For high quality compression.
NormalMaps - Online, For making all types of maps, has good setting menus. A very cool tool.
Converting: Umodel, for Unreal Engine (Static meshes: export as gtlf.2. Animated meshes: export as psk. Requires Add-on). AssetStudio, for Unity. AC Viewer, self implied (+ USD Addon for blender). QuickBMS* and support forum, for basically everything else. (don't forget the required scrips, down the same page). *I haven’t tested it fully yet, but it was recommended here. A tutorial for it is listed further down. Works like a charm.
UV Mapping: UV Mapper, Classic (free) and the most recent Demo (for visualization).

If you don't care for the text exposure of how this set came to be, you can just go straight for the Neocities download page (Check it out, it has a gallery now too!!):
and now, for the context
Early this week Lord Crumps released a 4t2 conversion of the Luxury Party stuff pack, that included this nifty custom functional serving platter, courtesy of Lamare.
However, since a lot of straightforward sims 4 conversions don't match the visual style of my game much, I decided to clone the serving tray and use Pineapple Forest's Restaurant Cloche default mesh and textures to replace it with, but then, the project escalated (Not as much as other projects), and I decided to also include a Banquet Table that matched The Rotunda Table from Celebrations, and instead of sticking of one size of party platter, how about two, and make it recolorable and repositoried while I'm at it!
So This is what you get, 3 Objects and 1 recolor
Again, special thanks to @lordcrumps @lamare-sims for the original objects, and @pforestsims for the mesh and textures of the cloche.
PS: I do recommend the mod edit that comes with the party pack to make the sims make more use of the buffet platters.
Happy to see some of my remeshes flying out of FreeSo and into other Sim Games!!

For someone who struggles to understand sometimes what a given block does inside a specific BHAV, this might be useful!
I've just released a web tool for The Sims 2 modders that converts SimPe BHAV code to Mermaid diagrams. It's intended to make BHAV functions easier to understand, especially the big ones.
BHAV to Mermaid diagram (cosmatevs.github.io)
Yeah, like, it makes sense when a large boat uses a larger texture, an hourglass that you see for like... 10 seconds.. not so much, if you can encompass details in smaller textures to the point none of them would be lost... better to do that than have 2k Textures for a piece of deco clutter that's gonna be used a lot but barely occupies the space of a slot
I was curious and decided to summarily investigate the base game's heaviest textures.
Most are 1024x1024. However, the urn sculpture is 512x2048:
Also, the Grim Reaper's hourglass' texture is uselessly big:
His ass is not respecting "texture size roughly matching the size of the object on the screen" !! lol
Edit: I initially did not look at EPs. PineappleForest pointed out the Bon Voyage pirate ship uses two 2k textures. Looking through EP files, I also found three for the Freetime basketball courts. Considering the sizes of these objects, a fair use.
(In general I find that the textures from later EPs are better in general 🤔 like you don't see the flat floodfilling you have in some base game textures.)
We are at two whole decades of this amazing game! May we get many more to come, because my love of this game will not run out. I still do something sims 2 related every single day and I wouldn't change it for the world! Thank you for the years of fun, and thank you sims 2 community for making the experience even better! :)
As so many are doing, I wanted to share some gifts for this happy occasion. I come bringing treats, literally and metaphorically! I have something for you, for the sims, and for the pets! Yay!
Gift for Players - Posebox function that remembers last used pose
Gift for Sims - Updated Simslice Beer Keg
Gift for Pets - Functional Pet Treat Bucket
Original plan for pets was easier stray adoption. That will be coming but I was not able to finish testing in time, so for now, they get pet treat immersion mod :) I hope you all have had a lovely Saturday with lots of Sims 2 activities and community events. If you have free time, I hope you'll check out the twitch stream train currently going on that is hosted by ChocolateCitySim and Ranabluu!

Happy 20th anniversary to The Sims 2! I absolutely love The Sims 2 and how this game was treated. Every platform for it provides different, unique gameplay and lore. Out of all the PC versions, this is the one I tend to gravitate towards. There's just something about it. So here's a gift to celebrate it! This gift consists of 9 conversions (+ an extra of the Torchemada Wall Torch to include a flipped version) from The Sims console and The Sims Bustin' Out. This was heavily inspired by the master bedroom at the Goth Manor location, also in spirit of Halloween coming up! Please let me know if there’s any issues!

Published: 9-14-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY MoneyMAT is a collection of modified objects for financial operations and storytelling in your game. The series includes functional cash clutter, as well as tools for banking, loans, and investments. #CO2MONEYMAT This is a crossover with the #CO2CDKSERIES. Cubic Dynamics by John B. Cube and Marcel Dusims forged the future with furnishings that were minimalist in design and maximalist in erudite pretension. Generations later, the company continues to produce edge-of-cutting-edge designs. Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sims 2 (EA/Maxis, 2004) by adding various currencies from the simsverse to your game – simoleons, magicoin, simoles, OMEGA, neo simoleons, simoleon sprouts, war simoleons, and more. Canon currencies and extra recolors allow you to create a color-coded banking/investment system. All items are grabbable, sellable and available in the catalog as well. Watch out for robbers!
The newly enhanced Cashpointe ATM (Honeywell, 2019; Katy76/PC-Sims, 2007) can be used for small loans, currency exchanges, and investments: (1) LOANS of §250, §500, §1K, §5K, §10K, §20K, or §30K with no payment schedule! After repaying in full, sims can take out new loans, (2) GET CASH by converting household funds to individual cash notes, coins, rolls, stacks, cards, or palettes, and (3) INVEST in virtual currencies which increase/decrease in value over time. Children can do everything except take/repay loans.
Collector’s coins can be sold and make great gifts for investors. Simoleon, Magicoin and Simoleon Sprout coins always increase in value over time while NeoSimoleons and other CryptoCoins increase AND decrease daily (sometimes they fluctuate twice in one day). DETAILS Requires Sims2 and all EPs/SPs. §1 - §30K | Buy > Electronics/Misc You need the Company Expo (Mesh Pack) set (Simmons, 2024) for TXTRs to show properly in game. ALL files in the CASHPOINTE set with “MESH” in their name are REQUIRED. Apply a recolor of your choice to cards or cryptocoin piles AFTER purchasing them from the ATM (or select directly from the catalog). Investment objects will NOT change in value while stored in a sim’s inventory – they must be placed on a surface for that effect. IMPORTANT: The individual cash notes (§1, §5, §10, §20, §50, §100, §500, and §1000) share the same GUIDs as those in Honeywell’s Money Jar (2019). The money Jar will use the notes from this set instead. Remove the originals. ITEMS Notes (§1, §5, §10, §20, §50, §100, §500, and §1000) (4-6 poly) Rolls (§1000, §2K, §5K, and §10K) (168-170 poly) Stacks (§1000, §2K, §5K, and §10K) (20-62 poly) Coin Piles (§100, §500, §1000, §5K, §10K) (660-1904 poly) Cards (§100, §500, §1000, §5K, §10K) (4 poly) Palettes (§10K, §20K, §30K) (286-710 poly) Collector Coins (§300, §500, §1000, §2K, §5K, §10K, §20K, §30K) (76-732 poly) Signs (332-376 poly) Card Shelf (9 slots) (104 poly) DOWNLOAD (choose one) CASHPOINTE OBJECTS from SFS | from MEGA RECOLORS from SFS | from MEGA MoneyMAT COLLECTION FILE from SFS | from MEGA

In honor of Sims 2's twentieth anniversary I finally sat down and polished a Maxis conversion I'd done ages ago, which is the apartment life male pajamas for teen-elder. (They're my favorite pajamas in the whole game so...) They use Maxis feet and hands (I mean it's Maxis Match after all!), are repo'd to the adult txmts so any default replacement textures will work, and are pinned to the Apartment Life EP section. I also included a default for the adult male mesh that adds a pregnancy morph. All six swatches are included, though I could only get four of them in the screenshots. Second screenshot is the fat morph.
Well, this would normally be the part where I just uploaded a picture of what it is and a link to the download, but I decided to bring back me going on verbose tirades, if not for just a tiny bit This game has been in my life for very long time, 20 years huh, next year the game will legally be allowed to drink in all countries, xD So what did I decide to make to celebrate this special location, something related to Iconic things like the freezer bunny, llamas, cowplants? No, I decided to celebrate what could have been.
This is an early screenshot for The Sims 2 prior to release, for a while, we knew that at a point in development, jewelry was added to the game, only for it to be completely dropped before the game went gold.
What we can see in this screenshot, is what I suspect to be where you would be able to buy said jewelry in a community lot, this being one of the two pictures where you can see said displays (The other picture having slightly worse visibility of said displays)
I've always wanted to see these displays in full glory, but considering how much we've digged out of the game files already, nothing related to these displays remains in the game files
So, I decided to try my luck to recreate them
I knew coming into this project that they would never bee a 1 for 1 recreation (proportions might be wrong, can't really see how the jewelry in the displays looks like in detail), so I decided to at least recreate the overall shape of the stands and fill them with jewelry that ended up shipping with Boy Voyage, and a bit from the Prism Art Studio jewelry display as well for good measure. I am happy with my work, but feel free to try and fill the stands in your own way, that was decidedly my worse struggle with this, just give me credits.
Happy 20th Birthday, The Sims 2! may we keep having fun for years to come!!
Published: 8-25-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY Using dozens of the same object on a lot—such as a window on a skyscraper, or lots of the same tree/hedge on a large park lot—may cause “exploded” lot imposters. The lot imposter is the version of a lot seen in neighborhood view or from adjacent lots during gameplay. The error often appears in the form of warped or smeared objects – as if someone wiped part of the screen with a wet cloth. In other cases, the mesh looks like broken shards and/or pokes through other parts of the lot. Meanwhile, everything looks fine when you enter it. This error seems rare, having only occurred about 4-5 times over two decades, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying. Don’t panic! The object itself is likely not broken (although double-checking wouldn’t hurt) but the error happens as your game tries to render the same object/textures multiple times. In my testing, the culprit was usually a single object and one of its recolorable subsets. SOLUTION I used to delete the blown-up lot and rebuild it until the problem went away. Yet, a much easier solution exists – recolors! Apply 1 or more recolors across copies of object and that should fix the warped/exploded object on the lot imposter. In most cases, this should take care of the problem. In this example, the windows “exploded” in hood view. After applying plain glass recolors from THIS (Simmons, 2023) set, the problem didn’t go away. The true culprit was the metal detail on the glass – for which I had no recolors for. I made some (HERE), using similar colors which looked the same from a distance, and that solved the problem.
Simmers who use lots of greenery in their landscaping might encounter an exploded lot imposter. Keep similar recolors in your arsenol…just in case. During gameplay, this happened when I used a ton of custom hedges repo’d to the default one (“boxy lady”). This has also happened with the default birch tree in-game, so I recommend keeping something like Gwenke33’s recolors (2011) handy. DOWNLOAD THIS TUTORIAL (PDF) (choose one) from SFS | from MEGA CREDITS Thanks: William, Gina, Catherine and others on discord who helped me think through solutions years ago.
After weeks of email round robin where every tech support person knew something different. ^_^
It's back! For realz this time. With it's totally centered header if your browser is wide that I'll most likely never fix because I don't ever want to do this again.
A big thanks to everyone for their patience and support. I hope to never do this again.
All bookmarks should work. All redirects from old digitalperversion links should work. Feel free to let me know of any links not working. Unless it's cc stuff, then I probably not the one to ask.
You might have noticed that the GMDC importer/exporter by DjAlex88 doesn't work with Blender 4.1+. So I made a compatible version… with a new feature I needed.
Download on GitHub
I've never made a Blender add-in or coded in Python before, so I hope I didn't break anything.
Please let me know if it works the same as before once you have tested it.
A Shader Edit/Default Replacement "StandardMaterial" is the shader commonly used by sims objects. It tells the game how to render them, and by default offers features such as making them glowy or transparent. However, most of its effects apply to the whole material at once. I figured out how to edit it! So here is my improved version. It now supports: - An "additive" texture map, lighting up specific areas of the material. - An envCube mask, controlling the intensity of this effect via a texture. - Two new envCube modes, and improvements to an undiscovered one. + "Blend" replaces the base texture by the envCube's. + "Multiply" multiplies them together (duh). + "DiffuseRadiance", which already existed in the shader, adds the envCube texture to the light received by the material rather than its already lit texture. All three of them support the envCube mask and the envCubeCoef parameter. The envCube modes are mutually exclusive, but all effects can otherwise be used with each other. The download itself contains the shader package, a pdf ReadMe listing features and material parameters, and examples showcased on my envCubeTesterObject (also included). The readme lists the specific shader files I've edited, in case anyone else made an incompatible mod. (I've not included the recolours from the first preview pic as they're kind of lame lol + I had to make a CEP extra for the robot.) I'm hyped to see what cool objects and recolours people will make with this! And I'm probably forgetting information.

It's me, Eve - or @simping-simmer, as you may know me. I've decided to create this blog in order to make a more comprehensive and accessible resource for those of us who enjoy playing with diverse bodytypes. I will try to update this blog as often as I can but it may slip through my fingers a bit - I work as a teacher, it gets quite busy.
I also personally play with quite a limited range - so things like RenGal, SlimBB, CPU, for example, may be less likely to get reblogged by me because I simply don't use them. However, if there's a bodyshape I have missed new content for, or completely forgotten altogether, please let me know via the ask button!
Anyhow, please enjoy this blog and I hope it proves as a good resource for these different bodytypes!

So as you are aware, 4 year ago I released my coin defaults to the world (here if you need a refresher to what i'm talking about), and my question goes to those who made use of it or are using it right now. Out of the 71 Defaults, which ones are your favorites, and which ones would you like to use more if you could. And if you don't use any of them, what are you favorite money defaults then? Feel Free to Reply or Reblog this post I need as much input as possible for this, not gonna make any polls because... 71 defaults, that would be too much, so just say names and details about them.

Oh this is absolutely a game changer on the task of mesh repositoring!
Repository Wizard
The Repository Wizard is a utility for automating the repository technique for objects and clothing.
Object Mode
This mode of the Repository Wizard automates the process described by HugeLunatic in their Repository Technique tutorial.
Clothing Mode
This mode of the Repository Wizard creates new re-colours for a new/modified mesh based on an existing mesh with its own set of re-colours.
This is NOT the simple approach to the repository method of linking the dependant's TXMT resource(s) to the donor's TXTR resource(s), but a new, more advanced, approach of linking via the 3IDR resource.
See the application’s web page for extensive details about both modes.
If you do not know what the repository technique is, or why you would want to use it, this application is not for you!
