John Entwistle 🕸️🕷️
Keith Moon met Ringo Starr... imagine if he lived long enough to meet Freddie Mercury and Mick Mars. Calm down, sun..
Jacqueline is so tiny hehe I know Roger teased her for it🤣🤣
I was reading “Dear Boy the life of Keith Moon” and it talks about Kim Kerrigan A LOT so I decided to post a picture of each member of The Who with their first wife. Probably the stupidest thing I have ever done but WHATEVER
(From top to bottom) Keith Moon and Kim Kerrigan, Pete Townshend and Karen Astley, Roger Daltrey and Jacqueline Rickman, and John Entwistle and Alison Wise.
Awwww i would feed John cinnamon rolls and then rub his lil belly, squeeze his cheeks, and run my fingers through his hair while showering him with compliments about his beautiful body cuz hes a cute hungry boy🥹 I'm so cringy :D
Hempo Hilden, drummer of an opening act for The Who:
“We met The Who in the dressing room and John asked me if it would be possible to have something to eat… A friend of mine took his motorbike and went downtown to get anything. He showed up ten minutes later with big chunks of bread and a few beers. And I still remember John Entwistle eating a whole loaf of bread, which we call ‘limpa’ in Sweden, in approximately one minute. A loaf is what a normal family eats in two days.”
Cutest grandpa's ever🖤🎯i love them so much
At the 2019 Houston show, Roger struggled a lot with his ragweed allergy while singing Who Are You, and he was basically either gasping or sneezing between every line. He managed to complete the song and sang pretty well but was visibly frustrated. So as soon as Pete finished playing the guitar, he went over and patted Roger on the back to comfort him😢and before the next song started, Pete told the audience:
"I want you all to do something for Roger. Just tell him that it's a banner of beat and sweat (he turned around to face Roger), so nobody gives a fuck if you ain’t gonna talk or perform. We fucking love you."
I’m literally in tears because this kind of conflicted furious dreaded strong yet unrestrained and even unrequited and completely unfathomable love really did exist in the world for so many years I just?!!! I can’t?!!!!
need to shampoo, condition, and style Roger's curls so bad rn
Yall think Roger would be the type to wear a bonnet to sleep?? I can't stop thinking about him wearing a bonnet during a performance cause his hair not done🤣🤣
Just yapped to my mom for an hour or so about The Who knowing damn well she dgaf💅
me: knock knock! person: who’s there? me: the. person: the who? me: The Who are an English rock band that formed in 1964. Their classic line-up consisted of lead singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, selling over 100 million records worldwide and holding a reputation for their live shows and studio work.
The Who developed from an earlier group, the Detours, and established themselves as part of the pop art and mod movements, featuring auto-destructive art by destroying guitars and drums on stage. Their first single as the Who, “I Can’t Explain”, reached the UK top ten, followed by a string of singles including “My Generation”, “Substitute” and “Happy Jack”. In 1967, they performed at the Monterey Pop Festival and released the US top ten single “I Can See for Miles”, while touring extensively. The group’s fourth album, 1969’s rock opera Tommy, included the single “Pinball Wizard” and was a critical and commercial success. Live appearances at Woodstock and the Isle of Wight Festival, along with the live album Live at Leeds, cemented their reputation as a respected rock act. With their success came increased pressure on lead songwriter and visionary Townshend, and the follow-up to Tommy, Lifehouse, was abandoned. Songs from the project made up 1971’s Who’s Next, which included the hit “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. The group released the album Quadrophenia in 1973 as a celebration of their mod roots, and oversaw the film adaptation of Tommy in 1975. They continued to tour to large audiences before semi-retiring from live performances at the end of 1976. The release of Who Are You in 1978 was overshadowed by the death of Moon shortly after.
Kenney Jones replaced Moon and the group resumed activity, releasing a film adaptation of Quadrophenia and the retrospective documentary The Kids Are Alright. After Townshend became weary of touring, the group split in 1982. The Who occasionally re-formed for live appearances such as Live Aid in 1985, a 25th anniversary tour in 1989 and a tour of Quadrophenia in 1996. They resumed regular touring in 1999, with drummer Zak Starkey. After Entwistle’s death in 2002, plans for a new album were delayed. Townshend and Daltrey continued as the Who, releasing Endless Wire in 2006, and continued to play live regularly.
The Who’s major contributions to rock music include the development of the Marshall stack, large PA systems, use of the synthesizer, Entwistle and Moon’s lead playing styles, Townshend’s feedback and power chord guitar technique, and the development of the rock opera. They are cited as an influence by hard rock, punk rock and mod bands, and their songs still receive regular exposure.
I got my first Who vinyl!! I love it so much, and I'll cherish it forever. 🎯
My cute babies :DDDDDDDDD
In The Rock 3/7/1969: The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” is released in the U.K. It’s the first song from the rock opera Tommy.
I had a dream where Roger had orange hair and freckles.🤭
I love adding my comfort characters next to my favorite band.
I can't stop imagining tiny John Entwistles trying to climb onto a giant teddy bear
Every friend group has that one person who doesn't know how to dress.
Me yapping:
The who boys are sooooooo cute. I wish I had tiny versions of them so I could put them in my purse and carry them everywhere, and they will live in my dollhouse. I will pet them, feed them grapes, bathe them in the sink, and sew tiny clothes for them. I will protect them from harm with my life.😈it's so cute to imagine them being tiny running around in my room like mice.
Since my previous Pink Floyd petpet gifs were so popular here are petpet gifs of The Who!
Roger having 8 kids with different baby mama's is mad ghetto lol
I have a who fanpage on Instagram and I like to imagine all the old people who are following me not getting any of the jokes I posted LOL
Millennials of Tumblr dot com, what was your weird niche fandom that you were part of a community dedicated to in the mid/late 2000s? Not Harry Potter or LOTR or Ouran or something, it has to be niche. Something where when you talk about it, you have to spend at least 3 minutes just explaining why this Was Even A Thing. Where someone who doesn't know just how intensely balkanized 2000s messageboard culture was, would be shocked at how this thing had whole websites dedicated to it.
Mine was "teenage girls who were obsessed with The Who." I specify the age/gender because we specifically had our own forums (if anyone by chance on here was a regular on Cobwebs & Strange circa 2005-6, hi! I forgot what username I had there, but on Xanga I was harddaysafternoon / postcardsofthehanging) that were separate from wherever middle-aged dads were talking about The Who in the mid-2000s. We'd occasionally have such a guy show up on one of ours because he found it on Google, and make an introduction, maybe one more very confused post, and then leave.
This wasn't an RPF or shipping centric fandom, either. I cannot explain it; the classic rock bandom circles I was into around 2005 were not into that. But they were a thing. There was a girl who quit Xanga/LiveJournal because she decided that to be a true fan she needed to live like she was in the 1960s and therefore couldn't use any technology that did not exist in 1965.
Anyway, tell me about your super-niche 2000s fandom and its drama
