I’m so insane abt Gravity falls😭
We were talking abt existentialism in school and also abt Jean Paul Sartre and during the whole lecture I was thinking only abt the fact that I know his name from somewhere! And after some time I realised THIS is where I know him from

The thing with the website consumed my every thought so much that I had a dream about it😭
I dreamt that when the counting reached 5 hours it stopped and there was a video of Alex Hirsch explaining that he fixed it and the great announcement was another Cipher hunt but this time it wasn’t for Bill’s statue but for poor old Gus’s body😭
He also dropped the first clue and people immediately decoded it and it lead to a place in the mountains where I used to go skiing as a kid. I was so happy about it cuz most of the clues during Cipher hunt were in America so I was glad there is something in my country as well
I’ve been sitting and watching that website for literally 4 hours and I’m going to sleep now before I pass out

I love Stan's relationship with the kids so much.
GF emphasizes a lot of very real trauma in Stan's past. Everything from child abuse, homelessness, drug abuse, and survival sex work. And the way that meshes with Mabel being this truly genuine depiction of a weird little girl creates something that is very unique to the series.
It's really touching how Mabel just being Mabel heals Stan's inner child and the way he naturally clicks with her. The weird and creative little boy he used to be, before his father's abuse and toxic masculinity beat that joy and optimism out of him.
It's just damn good. It's a really beautiful depiction of an intergenerational relationship. And I haven’t really seen anything else quite like it. Because there’s also Dipper.
There’s this wall between Stan and Dipper that goes beyond his similarities with Ford and its gender.
Dipper is a boy and Stan clearly doesn’t really know how to handle that. He was taught that boys are raised in a very specific way. And like we see how Stan really struggles with his past, the way he talks about the boxing lessons in particular.
Masculinity is so deeply entwined with Stan's pain and it’s something he can’t easily unravel. How is he supposed to be able to criticize his father for 'toughing him up' when he feels like punching things is one of the only things he’s good at? It's fucking sad.

I know we've all been having a lot of fun with the idea that Bill and Ford are bitter-exes-coded, but I just can't ignore the less fun, more sad interpretation. Ford's entries in BoB read so much like someone recovering from an abusive relationship- the fear that they will reenter your life, the desperate attempts to keep them away from your loved ones, the relief at realizing they don't have power over you anymore. He didn't tell anyone about it because he was ashamed at himself for being taken advantage of! He blamed himself! And then of course, there's this bit from the website:
And as much as I enjoy the shitposts, I just want to take a moment to appreciate this really heartwarming story Alex is telling about Ford's healing from what Bill did to him. And seeing Stan, Dipper, and Mabel supporting him in this makes me so emotional 🥹 He thought Bill took everything from him, but he was able to rebuild his life for the better. And all because he had his family to help him. UGH!
