Digitalized and colored version of my version of Skræl! I started him a while back and finally finished coloring this idiot.
I still haven’t watched the Dragon Prince, but I’ve been seeing a lot about this Aaravos character. Got spoiled and learned his backstory + Leola’s backstory and I gotta say, I’m going to use that “ocean of tears” plot point for Skræl after he’s released from his eternal crystal imprisonment.

Anyways send asks about anything you want to know about my Au for the Arcane Order. I need to get back into their lore and answering questions seems fun.
Asks are almost always open to things about my various interests.
The more and more I rewatch Wizards I just keep noticing how much more screen time Skræl gets in the series rather than the movie where he's one of the two antagonists, the same goes for Bellroc and Nari. They all get more time to be a bit more expressive then they do in Rise of Titans.
Yes, we get to see Nari angry and being badass in the Earth vs Ice Titan fight, but we see the same thing (less of a focus) in the Killahead battle when she's kicking the Camelot Knights asses.
I will never be able to stop rambling about how much missed potential the Arcane Order had, they were so cool for what? 😭
Something random I've noticed during my rewatch of Wizards:
There's quite a few cutaways that feature little scenes with Skræl.
At the battle of Killahead when Morgana appears, the scene cuts to Skræl for a split second before returning to the fight.
When the Arcane Order attacks Camelot in the first episode, during the little "introduction" to Bellroc and Skræl, the camera focuses on Skræl before returning to the attack.
In the final episode, when the Arcane Order discards Arthur's helmet, the camera focuses on Skræl before cutting away again.
There's probably more but these are the three I remember clearly.
If only Wizards had the same run-time as 3below 😭 We could have had so much more content and character development with another season

Alright alright!, here we go!

First things first, lore time!!
All of this may change overtime as I make adjustments and figure out finer plot details, so don't take everything for being set in stone.
Anyways, my story for the Arcane Order is WAY different than the canon version we were given.
Beginnings
Starting with the main cast, Skrael, Bellroc, and Nari are given a bit of a different dynamic than shown in the show. Instead of just being a vague group of primordial wizards, they were born from the earth itself. Evolution plays out as it does in the modern science books, with the different eras and ice ages. The earliest plant life began about 460 million years ago, that is when Nari first appeared. Nari created new forms of life over a very long stretch of time, including the earliest forms of dinosaurs, and watching those dinosaurs evolve on their own. When they are wiped out by an asteroid, however...
That is when the second Arcane Order member would appear, around the end of the Cretaceous period about 66 million years ago. The recovery period afterwards is when Bellroc comes into the picture for the Arcane Order. They appear while the smaller mammals and rodents are running around and scavenging, trying to survive. (This is where they get their skull headpiece---It's a runt giganotosaurus skull! ((might change to be a juvenile allosaurus skull as well, or a Utah raptor))). From here on Bellroc is just kind of... there. They live throughout history until we get to about... 2 billion years ago.
2 billion years ago is when the first Ice Age began! Which means, you guessed it, Skræl appears! Before this time, however, Bellroc and Nari had grown into a siblings-like bond, with Nari guiding and helping Bellroc around the powers they now wielded.
They hadn't really been meddling in creation very much up to the point that Skræl appears, but afterwards, they start steering the course of the Earth, which includes the beginning of the human race. This is a post for another day, so let's just skip to the part that focuses the most on Skræl!
Skræl's lore / his role in humanity
From here, the timeline can get a bit muddy, since the Inuit and Norse and Norwegien groups of humans I have inspired his looks and lore from appear at about the 13th century, meanwhile toa Wizards dates the Killahead War at the late 12th century. I ask you ignore this hiccup in my storyline, please and thank you!
Anyway, Skræl had taken a liking to the humans who were choosing to live in his harsh arctic environment, specifically the several different Eskimo peoples, which include but are not limited to the eight Inuit groups (credit to this site for the information): The Labradormiut (Labrador), Nunavimmiut (Ungava), Baffin Island, Iglulingmuit (Iglulik), Kivallirmiut (Caribou), Netsilingmiut (Netsilik), Inuinnait (Copper) and Inuvialuit or Western Arctic Inuit (who replaced the Mackenzie Inuit).
Starting with his name, Skræl took his name off of the term that the Old Norse and Icelandic people had for the Inuit tribes, skrælingi or plural skrælingjar. From before this point, Skræl had just been referred to as North Wind by the other members of the Arcane Order and by any mortal/magical creature who knew of him. He chose to be referred to as a male a long time ago as well, simply to ensure that there wasn't much confusion amongst the humans whom he was spending more and more time watching and messing with.
Skræl had been meddling with humans for a very long time, since the first Ice age, and all of the time afterwards that there were ever any humans in his Arctic environment. He had taught the humans many different skills, and was sometimes worshipped alongside other deities by the Old Norse.
He often met with at least one or two elders of an Inuit group every few generations simply to talk and see them off into the next life. (Energy and souls can be reincarnated in my version of Trollhunters, which will leave interesting story options open for future use).
Because of Skræl's open enjoyment of the human race, you can see how I'm setting up the Killahead battle and the way he will react to being asked to meddle with such an important and fragile battle for balance. But that's for later.
Skræl's design inspiration
There are several different observable things to talk about in his design, so lets start with his head dress: the walrus skull.
The reason I decided upon a walrus skull rather than one of a caribou or mammoth or any other great beast is because of the Inuit legend of Sedna, the sea goddess. In the legend, Sedna has her fingers cut off, which then become all of the sea creatures of the oceans, which include things like whales, seals, and walruses. Before this legend came around, though, Skræl had been wearing a scimitar cat skull instead. He switched to a walrus to be more connected to the Inuit.
The second part of his design is his "cloak", which is really just a standard Inuit fur coat that has been cut down the middle like a jacket, and thrown over his shoulders like a cloak. He doesn't wear it like the mortals would because he, as a god, doesn't need to worry about freezing to death. I also just wanted an excuse to show off his tattoos, which may or may not be added. (I still have to find some good and credible resources and references to the meanings behind chest and arm tattoos for the Inuit, so only his face has any right now in the final art I've done for him. the only reason he's kept the two lines across the face is because they **allegedly** mean that he has killed a rather large or memorable whale).
The third part is his pants, which are the common pants of a Norwegian / Viking trousers. They are tied at the waist with rope and wooden/bone beads, because Skræl is just extra like that. The shoes/'shin guards' are also typical boots for Viking age Norwegians *according to my sources*, but I cut them off at the ankle so that he can be bare foot in the snow like the little maniac he is.
Speaking of little, I made him so much larger than he is in the cannon. Skræl stands at about 5'6" when standing up straight, and he's bigger physically, but still extremely lean. He has more of the native features of an Inuit (referenced from old photos off Google).
In a previous ask I sent to @ssiggss, I said that he has braids beneath the hood and skull, but now I'm not sure if I want him to be bald or not. Probably not, just to go the easy route, since I can barely draw loose hair as it is.
He has those little itsy bitsy horns on his head still, too. No lore reason, I just liked them in his canon design.
Skræl (and Bellroc's role) in the battle of Killahead, and a tease at the rest of the story!
Nari is the one who calls the Arcane Order together to discuss the issue of the balance within her domain, and urges them for help. Bellroc and Skræl are don't really agree with the idea of meddling in such a big event, considering they didn't help any of the other previous civilizations during things like the Ice Ages, Aztec empires, or natural disasters like Pompei.
They decline her request, and leave the Wild Wood.
Immediately, Nari is pissed off and tells them to help, but they still decline. Nari gives Morgana her power to be the Mother of Monsters, and meddles in the battle herself.
And then Skræ; and Bellroc disappear...
...until the time of Merlin's death.

who was really sweet and kind in his past but then... well... stuff happened

but the big bad restores him back to life so she can use him
and he gets a redemption arc at the end of season three
and the main character doesn't have a bio Dad, but he attracts plenty of father figures throughout the course of the show
and he gains a non-human form that makes him even more powerful
and him and the others gain an armor upgrade at the same time
and the girl of the team has short black hair with dyed stripes
and you know the guy with daddy issues who wanted to steal his artifact in the beginning? He becomes one of the protagonist's closest friends
and there's this gentle giant character
who becomes one of my most beloved characters of all time 💕💕💕
and he has a history of violence and trauma
and has now vowed to be a devote pacifist
but breaks his vow in order to protect the people he loves (with angry glowy eyes to boot)
and has a deep love for cats (yes, I did just do that)
...then I would have two nickels.
Which isn't very much, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

Merlin did expect Jim to be a teen. He said it himself. He said he’s been off by 14 years, which would, if we assume that it’s +14 years, and not that he expected Jim to be 2 yo, which would bring our boy to 30.

Can you imagine the actual difference that would have made???
A 30 yo is an adult, with formed believes and some established achievements. A 30 yo finished high school, went to college, finished college, had a job, had a long-term relationship, maybe even lived apart from his mother, basically someone who already has some sort of personal individual existence. A 30 yo is fully responsible for his decisions, or at least should be. A 30 yo has life experiences to fall back on.
A 16 yo has none of that.
And Merlin understands that. Merlin makes a choice for him, knowing full well that this child with anxiety and issues and a protector complex will do as planned if the pressure is applied in all the right places. Which is exactly what he did.
Honestly, I need a fic where James Lake Jr, a 30 yo man who works at a local high cuisine restaurant and also is part-time Home Ec teacher at Arcadia High who, on the way to school in the morning discovers the amulet.
I need his gf, who he lives with, the leading actress of the town’s troupe, to be strangely concerned for him picking glowing stuff on the street.
I need his best friend, the headliner of the Arcadia Radio Station, to be convinced that Maybe We Should Not Talk About This On The Radio.
I want Jim in the teacher’s lounge at 10 am drinking bad coffee and making fun of Strickler cause “Man, you must really age well, since you look EXACTLY the same as you did when you taught me history. You are what, sixty now?”

An older version of the little girl woke with a start. The girl known as Odette stared at her lap, hands pulling her hair. Feeling a hand on her arm she jumps up. Looking up all she sees is her foster brother Toby. The concerned look on Toby’s face was all she needed to see, Odette knew she needed to clam down. Breathing in and out her ash blond hair goes in her face. Moving her bangs to the side her forest green eyes meet Toby’s emerald eyes. A smile graces her face as she pulls her hair.
“Good morning too you too Toby.” Odette yawns. Stretching a sun beam shines in her face. Flinching she squints, opening her eye she see the window open. Confused Odette looks at Toby but he just smiles and hands her a gift bag. Tilting her head she opens the bag. In the bag is a black tennis skirt, grey short sleeve shirt, and a pair of black converse. Looking at Toby with a smile Odette hugs Toby.
“Thank you Toby this is very nice” Odette exclaims.
“No problem. I just thought you would want a new outfit for your first day of real high school. Nana helped me pick out the outfit, I don’t really know what your fashion look is but I thought this was a good start. Plus we have to go get Jimbo from his house. Remember him I told you all about him.” Toby explains.
Nodding her head Odette gets out of bed and goes to the bathroom. Odette cleans her hair, washes her face, brushes her teeth, and does her hair. Odette pulls her hair into a ponytail then braids it loosely. Walking out of the bathroom Odette goes to the kitchen. Toby throws her an apple and the pair walk out the door.
As they get to the garage Toby puts in the passcode. As Odette grabs her skateboard Toby grabs his bike. They make there way across the road to see a boy cleaning up garbage. As the two talk Odette just stands there shuffling. The raven haired boy looks at Odette confused.
“Toby who is this”Jim states pointing at Odette confused. “Oh that’s Odette my new sister” Toby beams putting an arm around her shoulder. Odette just smiles quickly, then the smile disappears and she just looks at the floor.
“I’m James but everyone calls me Jim. So your staying with Toby, umm yo-you look really nice.” Jim blurts. As Jim gets a good look at her he sees the small ring of pure black around her forest green eyes. Odette’s rose pink lips. The dark circles under her eyes, the light flush to her cheeks. The way some strands of her ash blond hair fall out of her braid.
“Oh here Toby I made lunch sorry I didn’t make you one if I had known”Jim starts. A light chuckle comes from Odettes lips. “I’m a pescatarian, and you made meatloaf. Don’t worry let’s go to school, or we’ll be late.” Odette giggles.
As the Jim and Toby ride bikes Odette skateboards next to Jim. Jim notices that she is falling behind so he stops. Titling her head Odette looks at Jim confused, but he just motions her to grab the back of his bike. As the group get closer to the canal Jim forgets Odette is holding on and he jumps into the canal. A smirk comes on her face as she does a flip with her board and lands near Jim.
Jim looks at Odette with an odd look when her remembers that she was riding on the back of his bike. “ODETTE I’M SO SORRY I FORGOT THAT YOU WERE HOLDING ON TOO MY BIK- do you hear that. Is someone calling our names” Jim questions. A shocked look comes over Odettes face and she nods her head. The pair looks around and notice a pile of rock. Slowly the two walk over to it.

OKAY, I HAVE A HOT TAKE:
They were so hard on Jim bc of a few reasons:
1) he is a child, most trollhunters weren't chosen until they were adults, so having a child be chosen is shocking. Would you trust the fate of the world to a child? Cause I know I wouldn't. I'd even be iffy on someone in their 20s.
2) he's a human, yes the amulet was made by Merlin, a magical human, but it was made for the trolls, to be used by trolls(more or less). To see something that is so highly praised and protected be wielding by someone who is part of a group that tried to kill off/enslave ur entire species IS unsettling and upsetting. Regardless of that person's true intentions.
However, this is where I think my opinion is a bit controversial, Jim wouldn't have succeeded if not for his friends. Troll culture is very much, "do it yourself" and doesn't exactly praise brains or teamwork when it comes to their warriors. Jim always had his friends, and tried to make friends with his enemies- even giving them second chances(which from the troll perceptive is seen as weakness or pitying). He worked as a group, and it was shown that when he split off and tried to do things himself, he ended up getting in over his head or nearly killed, to which his crew would then show up and aid him. The amulet was never met for just one person to wield. It was meant for a group, for the leader to wear. It's no different than a crown or a rank. Like the Matrix of Leadership from Transformers. It marks who is best to lead at that time, not who's best to protect, and definitely not meant to be used alone.
The reason the others failed where Jim succeeded was bc of the people who he loved and the ones who loved him.

I'm not dead! I've just got a new job with new hrs and I work 7 days a week as a live in nurse. What free time I have is normally spent vegging out and sleeping. I have my original fanfics nearly done and my request nearly done writing tho! So, I know I say this a lot, but sh*t will get done and it will be amazing cause even if I procrastinate like a MF my work are always spectacular so the wait was worth it! 💜💜💜💜💜

Trollhunters OC
Some more specific backstory info before we get into my actual OC is her species. She is an Unseelie, which is a type of Dark Fae. Now Unseelie are beautiful, almost human-looking Fae and are incredibly tall. They have remarkable magical abilities but I also headcanon that they have a Beast form. These forms are normally in 5 categories, these categories are Aquatic(Fish, Eels, sharks, etc), Semi-Aquatic(Crocodiles, Snakes, etc), Avian(Birds, Bats, etc), Terrestrial(Deer, Wolves, Felines, etc) and lastly Insectoid(Spiders, Flys, Moths, etc). Their beast form can take on more than one animal/Insect from each category, but typically it is not more than 3 different categories they can take after. It is not by choice but by what their strongest personality traits are. That means the more evil or questionable personality traits are the more monstrous they will appear. While in their Beast form they can communicate telepathically with those they lock eyes with. Their skin tone while in Beast form can very from unnatural shades to natural shades, yet if they are a solid color it means they are inexperienced and are weaker then someone who has a more complex colorization.
Now my OC is a Halfling, meaning she is half-Human and half-Unseelie. Now with Halflings, they aren’t as powerful as their Fullblooded brethren. They can still use magic, however, they cannot use it in their beast form nor can they speak telepathically. There is nothing to allude to the fact they are Unseelie in their human form except for a small wedge of color in their eyes, which typically matches the color of their eyes in their beast form. They also tend to be smaller, staying the same height as they were when they were human in their beast form.

Age: 22 years old
Gender: Female
Human Appearance: Black hair in a pixie cut, round green eyes with a wedge of Violet in both eyes, big reading glasses, 5’2 with lightly tanned skin tone and a triangle formed out of birthmarks on her chest to the left of her heart, Curvy with a small bust and rear.
Fashion: Very relaxed and comfy, could be classified as a tomboy and vsco girl fusion. It’s all comfort and movability when it comes to clothes, being fashionable is not a priority to her.
Unseelie Beast Form: She has snow-white shin, her hair has turned to the sensory barbles like that on catfish and can move independently in reaction to the electro-magnetic fields living things produce(cautious and paranoid, she goes out of her way to be aware of everything that goes on around her). She has the hind legs and hands of a fox-like, however, they still appear partly human the regard to digit length(Mischivious, Playful, and able to lock onto a target- whether that be a living thing or a goal- and almost tirelessly pursue said target without faltering.). Her tail is that of the end of a snake, more accurately a boa constrictor as it is able to hold her up off the ground and curl around her prey(Deceitful, Creative, Opportunistic and Cunning, she will use all her energy to get to her end goal, even if that means she must step on others to do so.) Her teeth and the sounds she makes are similar to that of a Feline or Canine, with her ability to growl and howl but also produce small chirps and purring sounds(Independent, Loyal, Outwardly indifferent while inwardly compassionate, once she connects with someone they have made a life-long friend and she will protect them with her life, even if that contradicts her typical behavior.)
General Information: She was born in Rye, East Sussex, England however shortly after her birth, her mother abandoned her and her father. He had to move back to America to better raise his new daughter. He stopped traveling and became a professor at a college, where he taught about history and ran a club for the occult and mysticism. Zenobia Barnett was what she was named, her namesake was Queen Zenobia of Syria, simply because her father thought his daughter should be named after a not too well known Queen. Ironic, considering she is the secret love child of the Queen of a (now small) Unseelie clan which makes her a Princess. She, however, once she found out about her mother, she ran away. Understandable considering the Fullblooded aren’t exactly thrilled one of their Princesses is a Halfling and owns the rights to a small portion of the kingdom. She has been on the run from the assassins known as Revenants and hasn’t in contact with her father for some time.
