“I bet on losing dogs” but it’s the League of Villains.
No disrespect to Horikoshi. I genuinely feel like he was just tired and trying to wrap BNHA up. But the ending made no sense and made the entire series seem like it was for nothing.
Whether you love the League or hate them, you have to admit that killing all of them and imprisoning the remaining two is a shitty wrap to each of their stories. Like genuinely, they have actual backgrounds and real goals. I’m not saying he had to please the fans of every character, but killing them off with no resolution? All of them? And hero society didn’t become any less economy based and judgemental.
Between Magne, then Twice, why did they have to keep killing them off one by one? Those character deaths were sad, but the plot could at least carry on. An entire antagonist group was just wiped from the world.
Realistically, none of them are quiet. Especially not Dabi or Tomura. You KNOW that if they were given the chance within Tartarus walls, they would yap everyones ear off on how unfair the world was, and that no matter how hard they worked no change was made whatsoever. Plus, they’d have people there who’d listen to them. Endeavor, a character that I don’t particularly like at all, could finally *actually* atone for 20+ years of abuse. He has #1 hero money that could have kept him alive. Not to mention that Touya wasn’t supposed to live the first time around, but he did. Since Enji’s disabled now he could help Touya get his word out or something. Idk, anything is more than killing them all off.
And Tomura would have Midoriya at his side the entire time. You think Deku would throw him in prison and be done with him? No! He made a connection someone a lot like him, but was never given the chance to become anything else. I feel like the more Tomura would rant to him, the more Deku would want to help him. That was the whole point of not killing him sooner. He wasn’t *supposed* to die. The foreshadowing in previous seasons would have suggested there was more in store for him than death when Nana Shimura tested Deku.
You *know* Deku would’ve helped him, and eventually started a rehab facility or something. Deku’s whole deal is that he can empathize with almost anyone. And he *did*, so why couldn’t we pull more on that?
Like, they do quirk counseling for kids. Think about how many League members didn’t get that? Really think. Enji probably taught Touya himself. Tenko had *just* developed a quirk when he pretty much started his villain arc. if Toga had proper quirk counseling don’t you think they would have A) found out that her quirk would naturally give her a fascination with blood or B) given her alternatives for the natural bloodlust her quirk gave her? I know it’s not their quirks fault for their behavior, but it explains what lead them there. You know, the difference between a sociopath and a psychopath (*cough cough* AFO).
More on that, if a quirk rehab existed beforehand then Twice could’ve gone there after his accident. It would help him cope with being convinced he might be a double, hence saving him from the loneliness that the judgement of society left him in.
Like SPINNER. Society was judgemental over something he couldn’t even control (quirk + racism = quirkism?). All he wanted was a safe world for heteromorphs, leading him to the league. I don’t think he would specifically benefit from quirk rehab, but the point is that he very obviously wanted change for the better and he didnt even get that.
They aren’t saints whatsoever, but I feel like it should’ve been acknowledged that they *did* have goals. I could write a novel on this alone, but I feel like at some point you’ll get tired of hearing me yap 😅
All right, so I love the hell out of this nonsense and I want to talk about the Vanguard's plan and how ridiculous it was.
First, most of the crew showed up a night early and…well, then what? That first night, Dabi says they’re still waiting on a few more people to arrive. Okay, so what are you all doing here already?
Did Kurogiri warp them back to the bar after they’d gotten a look at the place? Scouted the area a bit? You needed seven people for that? Were they that bored waiting for Twice, Compress, and the Nomu to show up? What were they doing in the 24 hours between this part and the actual attack? Standing on that cliff and muttering, “Heroes…”?
Was Toga all, "Guys, I'm tired. Can we go back to the bar already?"
Spinner: "No, as villain protocol dictates, we must stand here menacingly for a minimum of twelve hours."
Dabi: Fuck you, I'm going to bed.
Except for being a scare tactic, having Dabi start a fire was mostly unnecessary. Their goal was to further weaken society's faith in heroes by targeting UA students, so you'd think he'd be a little more proactive in...well, actually harming someone. As it happened, the fire really only to served to announce there was an attack happening.
But I’ll throw the Vanguard a bone here and say this was Spinner’s doing. Like their original plan was to start a massive fire that would consume both classes and all the heroes in a singular tragedy, but then Spinner said, “Hey, pump the breaks, people. We’re here to uphold Stain’s ideals about toppling the corrupt Hero culture. Do we really want mass child murder as part of our brand?” Sure, he wanted to go after Iida, but he was a specific target since he was on Stain's hit list.
The two copies Twice made of Dabi were virtually useless in a fight since Vlad and Aizawa both took him out so quickly it was embarrassing. And yet he’s apparently a big enough threat that No. 1 and No 2. can’t handle him. Go fig.
Endeavor/Hawks: Oh, no, he’s too strong…
Aizawa/Vlad: Listen here, you little shit!
...
Muscular goes and reveals their plan even though he didn’t have to. They all saw the Sports Festival, they knew what Bakugo looked like, and yet here he is asking Deku where he he can find Bakugo as if he was going to answer him. Yes, he didn’t think there was any harm in telling him since his plan was to kill Deku anyway, but alerting UA to the fact they were looking to kidnap someone is still just hubris.
Going after Bakugo in the first place was a dumb idea. We can probably credit that one to Shigaraki because only he would look at the violently temperamental teenager raging on national television and think, “Yes, he seems like a reasonable person to negotiate with.”
...
Gonna drop in some actual light criticism here: Given the inequality issues that arise in the series later, targeting the heteromorph students for recruitment purposes would have been a smarter move for the LoV. They’re all part of a demographic that has a justified reason for being dissatisfied with society, so there would have been a believable chance of the LoV thinking they could sway some people to their side.
But hey, the League of Villains was on a learning curve. Give 'em a break.
He totally saw Aoyama here. Or at least he heard him because he clocked that there was something weird about that bush and he was going to go check it out…and then Twice distracted him and Dabi has an total ADHD moment and forgets what he was doing.
And it's not because Aoyama was the spy. Nobody in the Vanguard knew.
1.) Shigaraki says he tried and couldn't figure out where the camp was, but AFO figured it out relatively quickly. So if even his successor doesn't know who the spy was or called on that resource, then why would AFO tell anyone else in the group?
2.) Moonfish, Muscular, and Mustard were all apprehended, but none of them ratted out Aoyama, as someone with nothing left to lose would. Neither did Kurogiri when he was later apprehended, but that one may have been a loyalty matter. So I think this was a case of AFO saying, "I have a source of info and you don't need to know who it is." Because at the end of the day, AFO is an arrogant narcissist who's definitely not placing all his eggs in one basket. Aoyama wouldn't be an easy spy to replace, so of course AFO would want to limit any chances of him being exposed.
So this was Dabi's screw up.
Speaking of forgetting things, Dabi also straight up forgot they had a Nomu because he thanked Twice for reminding him they had a Nomu.
Sir....how the hell do you forget you have a Nomu?
Toga was supposed to get blood from at least three people. She failed.
Twice had a simple job. Create clones. He succeeded, but the only two he made were Dabi and I refer you to the previous point on how useless they were.
Spinner and Magne’s roles were a diversion. Distract the Wild, Wild Pussycats and give everyone else the opening to find and kidnap Bakugo.
They did pretty well. Up until the point they were almost caught and Kurogiri had to bail them out. Also Spinner lugged the giant, over-the-top blade contraption all the way there only for Deku to destroy it.
However, they do deserve some credit for making probably the best strategic decision of the group that night, and that was taking out Pixie Bob. We saw on the first day of the camp that she was able to hold back a class of twenty students with an army of earth creatures she was simultaneously controlling. That would have been a huge problem, so for the purposes of their team, good on them for removing that obstacle.
Underrated squad members right here.
Mustard was a legitimate threat for same reasons Dabi and his fire was a threat, plus he brought a firearm into the fight. (I want to know what the other villains thought when they saw that.)
But instead of putting him in the center of the fight where he could do some significant harm, they placed him on the outliers and all he did was knock some students unconscious and everybody made a full physical recovery, showcasing the gas he emitted wasn’t all that lethal and didn't cause any long-term complications. (Again, maybe this was Spinner's idea of Stain's ideology on not indiscriminately massacring children. "Guys, I'm telling you! That's fucked up!")
The Nomu (effectively brain dead without orders) did more damage than any of them, which makes the previous point that Dabi forgot they had it even funnier.
And finally, Mr. Compress was missing for half the night and then almost came in clutch by fulfilling their main objective plus extra credit, only to nearly blow it with his showboating. Seriously, they could have gotten away with both Bakugo and Tokoyami had they just booked it while the going was good.
But no, Compress had to make a dramatic production of it. When he first snatched the kids, he could have just left and Deku and company would have had no idea what happened. Had he just kept his mouth shut and left, they wouldn't have known he even existed. Then as the Vanguard members were leaving through the warp gates, he goes and does it again, giving Aoyama enough time to fire at them with his navel laser, something that also could have bee avoided had Dabi just checked the fucking bush!
The Vanguard Action Squad won by sheer dumb luck and their collective incompetence actually succeeding is the most hilarious thing about this arc. In the end, three members of their crew were arrested. (Although I think everyone was secretly relieved they lost Moonfish. Even if he was on my side, I’d be actively worried that guy would kill and eat me in my sleep.)
Yet this self-important twerp is smiling like they actually did something to be proud of here. All Dabi really accomplished personally was grab a marble (coincidentally the correct marble) before Shouto could, which is borderline more standard older sibling behavior than actual villainy. He literally lost two separate fights in one night and called it a win.
This arc was a five episode Scooby-Doo trap going wrong and succeeding.
Seriously, I hope that after the warp gates closed, they all just looked at each other and immediately started calling each other out on everything. Like Dabi slapped Compress upside the head and asked him what he'd been thinking having 'one last bow' before they got away. Spinner yelling at Dabi about how the clones did nothing. And there's Bakugo all, "I can't believe I've been kidnapped by a gaggle of morons."
Fake it till you make it at its finest.

Since the manga is finally finished, we've seen the full story of the characters and the events they went through. And there are quite a few stories where MHA characters react to some kind of alternate universes.
And in some of them, in addition to heroes, there are villains. And I got the idea, what if only the villains could see what they've been through?
Let's imagine that by some divine providence, the fans ' desire for a better fate for the villains passed through space and time and dragged the villains to the cinema. And there they will watch a story called My Hero Academy.
Let's assume that the events will occur during the preparation for an attack on the Unforeseen Simulation Joint (USJ). And here are Kurogiri, Shigaraki, Stain, Spinner, Magne, Twice, Toga, Dabi, La Brava, Gentle Criminal and Lady Nagan. Naturally, the League of Villains are not yet familiar with each other and they have yet to get to know each other.
Someone's voice from the void explains to them that so - and-so you will have difficult events ahead of you and you will have to see them, understand yourself and choose the best path. Of course, everyone is shocked and confused, because the voice also adds that they will look at the events on behalf of the hero, what path he went through and how the presence of villains affected his story.
And so they start viewing the MHA. Just a little skorektirovannoy, without openings, endings and multiple repetitions at the beginning of the series ( only if it does not say something important or a brief summary of what happened).
I want to see how the characters will change little by little, while remaining in character, how they interact with each other, discover something new and change their views on certain things. I think now that the manga is complete and their stories are fully revealed, it will be easier to do so.
I hope there is someone with a strong desire and determination to write this huge story.
(I just realized that without any help from outside, it will be difficult for them to improve. Therefore, I think that Aizawa will be dragged to the cinema with them. First, he is a hero of the underground and with a dark second sign closer than the heroes of the day. Secondly, the story is still connected with his children and completely leaving the characters in the dark can end badly. Plus, it can help villains connect with their heroes. So, I think Aizawa is the best candidate for co-viewing with the villains.)
(English is not my first language.)
THEY WOULD’VE BEEN A CUNTY TRIO IF THEY WERE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE TT

his best skill is listening to you infodump. he'll play video games while still actively listening and responding to you because he knows that's how you show your love
times all your meltdowns and tracks the triggers too
he thinks you look cutest when you're in your comfy, tagless pajamas and will make sure that you know important it is to him that you're in a sensory friendly environment

Dabi
he tries so hard to make sure the temperature is perfect for you. he knows how overstimulated you get when it's too hot or too cold.
won't hesitate to take hold of your hands and arms if you start to exhibit self injury behavior. he'd rather you hurt him than yourself.

Toga
oh you are her ANGEL!!!! She soothes you whenever you're having a meltdown
she'll tell you stories to distract you and play with your hair too, scratching your scalp because you love that
keeps you safe at all costs, public or private. you are her favorite, and anyone who makes you feel unwelcome or unsafe is her number one enemy.
keeps your blood in a heart shaped vial not even to use it, but because she loves having a bit of you around.
Spinner
literally ends up hyperfixating on half of your special interests
quality time is everything to him, so he’ll sit with you while you basically do anything just to body double for you!
makes sure that you know you’re safe when your body tells you you’re not
he buys you something related to either a safe food item or a sensory friendly clothing item everytime he goes out because he wants to make sure you never feel any amount of discomfort
Compress
he checks in FREQUENTLY. You always get a text after he leaves and while he’s gone and when he’s on his way home and-
He will marble you if people start to overstimulate you, then he’ll bring you home immediately and start to make you tea!!
he’s one to tell you how beloved you are and that anyone who’s cruel to you will be disposed of immediately
You’re his world. He makes sure that you’re aware of that every single chance he gets. Endless cuddles!!!!
Kurogiri
hey, if you need out of a crowd? He’s got you for sure!!!
there’s a little shirakumo there too so he’s extra careful with you when you’re struggling (:
He wants to protect you, he feels the same draw to you as he feels with shigaraki
basically will do anything to keep you away from anything that may harm you, even yourself <3
Magne
she will also kill anyone who hurts you or vaguely looks at you wrong
always tells the rest of the league to leave you alone when she sees you overstimulated or even close to feeling uncomfortable

happy belated bday tomura
Toga projecting her period cramps onto Twice and his clones
Got weirdly invested in this immediately after seeing this, I didn’t even think I cared about sharks that much. This is still based off general vibes, my limited shark knowledge, and a Quick Look over at the Shark Research Institute.
Generally aggressive
Known number of incidents second only to the Great White
Generally solitary or in small groups
Nocturnal
Quote from Shark Research Institute that I think applies, “Do not be lulled into a sense of security by its slow swimming movement and apparent lack of aggression; this shark may nonchalantly take a bite while remaining cool and casual.”
Fastest of the sharks and considered hyperactive.
Hyperactive tendencies lead to aggression towards humans, however they are rare due to it staying well offshore
I also think the shark’s known hyperactivity fits well with Shigaraki’s general fidgety-ness and ticks
Do I need to explain this one?
Smallest member of the group
Nocturnal
Ectoparasitic shark that attaches itself to larger prey before ripping out a chunk of tissue for food
Shark known for hunting by jumping out of the water and spinning
Indifferent to humans outside of baiting situations
Becomes hyperactive in groups
Going mostly off vibes here
Not none for aggression but has been involved in unprovoked incidents (no casualties)
Known for being docile and curious, I apply this mostly to Magne's interactions with the League rather than her villain status
Very social and tend to swim in groups
Social
Inquisitive and curios
May become aggressive during feeding
Extravagant threat display and high-speed attacks
Distinct appearance
Fast and aggressive feeder
Involved in unprovoked attacks
Persistent, bold, and curious
Will circle back even when being fended off
Mostly for just how long they can live
Also, while appearing sluggish and easy to capture, they are also known to hunt and capture large and fast prey
Highly migratory
None aggresive on its own
Kind of creepy looking, but generally cool
Despite basking sharks large size, they are very mobile
that's it, hope that was fun
Okay so my partner sent me a bunch if shark related tik toks (because they know how obsessed I am with sharks) and how they are misunderstood for being these scary things just waiting to eat you when in reality they're just sea puppies
So anyways, what kind of sharks would these guys be? Asking for a friend who happens to have the same name as me
Sharks love pats
(have you catch up with BNHA recently)

"Hey, Dabi, we got our asses kicked. Come get us."
remember this?
chapte 220
remember how we we were robbed of spinner narrating the mva arc? bc i do and i'm still mad about it
for those who don't remember or haven't watch the anime: in the anime, izuku also narrate the mva even though it's spinner in the manga
i want to give the benefit of the doubt to those who worked on the anime. at first i didn't understand why spinner was the narrator either as he didn't seem like an important character
but now that mha is over, it's seems obvious that this narration was hinting at spinner's book, if not a part of the book itself
this entire arc is basically "yeah we're villains but we're also people and we care about each other, here's our story". so it doesn't make sense that izuku narrates it, but it does for spinner. his league was his reason to be, he let himself get mutilated/tortured/whatever you wanna call what afo did to him in the final arc for the league, and especially for shigaraki
so yeah, i wish we could have gotten narrator spinner
just started decorating my apartment and i love how at first it looks kinda cute with pink dishes, candles, flower pillows
kinda giving pinterest vibes yk?
and then you turn around and you see my dabihawks figures and my league of villains poster
this is just me ranting after reading many people say that the lov deserved a better ending (i agree with them don't worry). most of that stuff has already been said but i'm bored and need something to write
so why is everyone disappointed?
by definition, an antagonist is someone that goes against the main character(s) and a villain is someone who does immoral and/or illegal things (wow, shocking)
so by definition, the league of villains is aptly named. shigaraki and dabi are mass murderers, toga is a killer too, and even if the others are 'less dangerous' they're all guilty of terorism and kidnapping a teenager.
not nice, right? then why would anyone would want them to have a good ending?
long story short: horikoshi made the league too sympathetic and relatable
when horikoshi has decided to make them funny, he's decided to make them likeable. that's not enough though. you can find a fictional villain funny and not root for them (for some reason the examples that comes to my mind are the disney villains. captain hook is hilarious but no one wants him to win)
the cause of everyone's disappointment is the relatable part. everyone in the league has gone through stuff viewers can relate. touya, shigaraki and toga have been abused; twice has mental health issues (and stuggling to get a job is relatable too lmao); spinner has been discriminated against... you get the idea
and even without knowing their backstory, most of the league's fights can be considered noble: they want to change society and make the world a better place. to take a more precise example, the league kidnapped bakugou because they thought he had gone through similar struggle as them
(this is mr compress talking in chapter 85) as far as i've seen, most of the fandom either think bakugou being chained and muzzled at the end of the sport festival was just comic relief or agree that it was fucked up
so yeah, you can't put a group of people rejected by society, who just want a better world and expect people to not like them
and that's why their ending is disappointing (the rest contains heavy spoilers of the last few chapters of mha)
they're all either in jail or six feet underground. we rationally could understand it, they're all criminals/villains so of course they wouldn't get a happy ending and face consequences for their actions. the only one who could have gotten away with it is shigaraki because of all the grooming/brainwashing he's gone through and maybe toga because she's a child
but if you relate to a character, you want them to get a happy ending. of course fans would want dabi to be at peace, but instead he's forced to spend his last moments being stared at by his abuser). of course fans would want shigaraki to be free from afo (but instead his only freedom was death). of course fans would want toga to be understood and cared for (but she never had that opportunity)
that's not very 'save to win' out of you horikoshi
maybe it's just a shortcut made by the fandom, but the league are seen more as victims of abuse than actual criminals. i mean, what's more important in dabi's story? the fact that he burned himself alive after overworking himself to get his abusive father's attention, or the fact that he's burned people alive? probably both, but there's more focus on the first element.
and obviously we would want abuse victims to get a happy ending
basically, their ending isn't coherent with what we've seen of them, and that's why people are disappointed
btw, the same logic applies to stain. some fans agree with stain's reasoning bc he's fighting against corruption. of course, his logic is stupid and he's delusional but he's introduced not long after we've discovered shouto's past. you can't say "one of the most popular heroes is abusing + all he wants is to get n°1 to satisfy his own ego" and then follow with "see that guy fighting against corruption? he's bad, don't do that"
the clever way to make sure no one would agree with stain would have been to make the heroes fight against injustice with good methods. i live for the fanfics in which izuku takes down the hpsc
okay i'm done ranting thanks for reading
