Character Updates & Information {Please Read}

This is just an update regarding character designs: I might not post in a minute due to trying to complete the clothing rough drafts for the 6 remaining characters, finishing the outline & coloring of finished rough drafts, writing character sheets for the characters, & working on rough drafts for new AU Variants.

So I have a lot on my plate & will be taking breaks to avoid becoming burnt out, however I feel bad not posting anything, especially regarding my characters, so I’ll post minor facts or ideas for the characters while working on them.

For now, this post will go over a few of the characters, mainly 3-6 characters at a time to avoid creating a super long post. Anyway let’s start.

Neue - UNDERTALE

Neue is able to remember past timelines/resets like Sans, but how he remembers them is a bit different. Neue will remember resets similar to trying to remember a dream, or having a strange sense of deja vu. He can’t tell if these “memories” are real or not, which causes him to overthink/ overanalyze certain events that occur.

Roman - UNDERFELL

Roman is trans, male to female, but is fine with the following pronouns: She/He/They. This is due to the transition being rather recent & giving her friends & family time to process her changes, she is keeping her original name since she really likes it. She already had a somewhat “feminine” physique before transitioning, which did cause some teasing/bullying from the other monsters.

Nova - OUTERTALE

Nova has & will always just float/levitate about few feet off the ground. He doesn’t remember the last time he has actually walked or even touched the ground, not that he minds. He does doze off a lot which could cause him to drift off, his friends came up with the solution to tie a rope around him & hold him like a balloon.

I really like how he turned out, which is good cause he’s one of my favorites of the variants; gentle giant or big baby, probably both.

I’ve decided to go with the “colored” outline rather than the black outline, just makes the piece pop and definitely gives off a vibe of their personality.

I was starting to get overwhelmed by drawing the clothing rough drafts, so I’m gonna start on the clothing lineart & coloring.

Neue & AU Variants: Clothing Rough Draft Pt.4/6

Here are the clothing rough drafts for Century, Vani & Sabon.

I didn’t have a lot of ideas for Century, just that I wanted him to look similar to Neue & Avenir.

However, Vani & Sabon were a bit easier since I already had ideas for their clothing. I was trying to give Vani & Sabon almost Chara & Flowey vibes with their outfits.

Neue & AU Variants Heights

So while waiting for the rest of the clothing drafts, and eventually the colored drafts, I’ll list below what Neue and his AU variants height are.

For reference, I made Sans 4ft 10in/147cm.

Neue & AU Variants: Clothing Rough Draft Pt.3/6

Here is the clothing rough draft of Nova, Bernard & Carter.

The problem child this time was Nova, just couldn’t get any good ideas regarding clothes, I figured warm puffy clothes could work since space is cold.

Bernard & Carter were a bit easier since I just based their clothing off mafia attire. I was debating on drawing Carter in a flapper-like dress, but it just would match her personality.

Possible More AU Variants of Neue

I’m experiencing low motivation for drawing, but I’m still working on the clothing rough drafts.

However, I am gonna be adding more AU Variants of Neue. These variants won’t have a big impact on the story or none at all (at least for now), but I think they’ll be fun to draw.

Now a few of these AUs will be my own version/redesign, not because I don’t like the original concept, this is just my own spin on them.

Dancetale

-IDK what type of dance this Neue will have, since Toriel is Waltz & Sans is Hip-Hop.

-I could see him being one of these options:

•A combination of both

•Waltz or Hip-Hop, or some variation of them

•Something entirely unrelated to both

Birdtale

-While the original just has the characters have wings on their backs (& I’ve seen some with talon/clawed feet), I’m gonna up the “bird” characteristics a bit more.

-The arms will be replaced with wings & the lower parts of the legs will look like talons.

-The nose/top part of the mouth will vaguely look similar to a beak.

-They’ll be based off a species of birds or a combination of 2-3 birds.

•For this version of Neue, he’ll be based off the Himalayan Griffon & the Collared Scops-Owl.

Reapertale

-This version of Neue would be the “child” of Life & Death. IDK what the correct terminology would be for this, but they would “rule” represent the realm between life & death.

-Their name is Purgatory, which might change if I can find a more accurate name for this, & they would play an interesting rule for this AU.

•They would decide if a soul deserves a second at life or if they must pass on into the afterlife.

•This would mainly affect individuals who are in a comatose state, or if they died “too early”.

Oceantale

-While the original was based more on mythical creatures (with the exception of a few), I’m gonna based this Neue’s design off real life sea creatures.

-They could either be based off a singular sea creature, or a combination of 2-3 species.

•For this version of Neue, they’ll be based off the Leafy Seadragon, Lion’s Mane Jellyfish & the Whale Shark.

Angeltale

-The original was similar to appearance of Birdtale, with the characters just having wings on their backs. So I’m gonna change them to look similar to nightmare fuel that is the “biblical accurate angels”.

-They would have 2 forms:

•Their true form which would be the equivalent of “biblically accurate angels”.

•The “Be-Not-Afraid” form which would give them a more “normal” appearance similar to their Undertale counterpart with some angel-like features.

Deltarune

-You know I had to include this for funsies.

-In this AU, Neue would be the son of Sans & an unnamed individual, so his personality would be different.

-His name would be Neuton, & IDK what RPG class he would have yet in the Dark World.

Blank Template

-Now this would be an original AU (unless there’s an AU like this so please tell me if that’s the case).

-Basically everyone would be a blank template of each character:

•Basic Designs with little to no colors (I guess white would be considered a color).

•Bare minimum concept of powers & personality based off the original Undertale characters.

•Little to no facial/emotion expression unless near a large influence of raw emotion.

-This version of Neue would be named “Canvas” (like a blank canvas).

Please comment any suggestions/ideas for these or other AUs that I’m working on.

Avenir gave me the most trouble when creating his outfit, but Crimson was nostalgic since I based his coat off the one my great grandpa gave me.

I’m finally working on the rough drafts of clothes for Neue & his AU Variants.

Here are the clothing rough drafts for Neue, Roman, & Merriweather. (The colors used in the rough are used to differentiate certain pieces of clothing from each other, they’ll be colored differently in the final draft).

Here is an updated Height chart for the AU Neues.

It was interesting to see the colored versions next to each other. I found the size differences to be funny, especially with the tallest one (Crimson) being in the same picture with the shortest one (Miriam).

I’m working on the colors for the body, hair, horns, and eyes.

I’m gonna work on their clothes eventually, I have some ideas for a few of them, but I still have hard time drawing clothes.

What Kind Of Clothing Should Neue & AU Variants Wear?

So I’m working on the final body lineart of each variant, mainly figure out their body types and totally not procrastinating on drawing their clothes cause I suck at drawing clothes.

Anyway, while I do have some ideas regarding clothing, I’m still having some trouble for most of them.

Basically as the title states, what kind of clothing should Neue and AU variants wear?

Neue AUs Height

Left->Right: Neue, Roman, Merriweather, Miriam, Avenir, Crimson

Left->Right: Nova, Bernard, Carter, Century, Vani, Sabon

Left->Right: Quire, Mono, Styx, Mairanda, Eras, Lucida

Dreamtale Neues Rough Drafts

Some clarification, these 2 would be “cousins”, with one being the “son” of Dream and the other being the “daughter” of Nightmare.

These 2 are the last, for now, rough drafts for Neue AUs.

Their names are Eras and Lucida.

Here is Eras’s rough draft:

He is based off the Golden Guernsey Goat, and is the same height as Neue.

Here is Lucida’s rough draft:

She is based off the Aradi Goat, and is the same height as Merriweather.

Some design elements that aren’t shown:

-Eras will have butterfly wings, while Lucida will have moth wings; both mainly seen during battle.

I have a few ideas of what they can represent:

-Day & Night -or- Sun & Moon

-Harmony/Order & Discord/Chaos

-Both can represent a specific feeling/emotion:

•Ex: Joy/Excitement/Hope & Anger/Despair/Fear

I tried to make their horns look like the “crowns” that Dream and Nightmare has/had.

Storyshift Neue Rough Draft

This variant’s name is “Mairanda”.

Here is the rough draft:

She is based off the Icelandic Goat.

She’s a bit shorter than Avenir.

I would imagine that her, Avenir, and Century are somewhat close and act as mentors to Merriweather and Miriam, along with each other.

Epictale Neue Rough Draft

Epic Neue’s name is “Styx”, is based off the font called “STX”.

Here is the rough draft:

He is based off the Garganica Goat.

He’s a bit taller than Mono, and his hair is about lower back length.

XTale Neue Rough Draft

This XNeue’s name is “Mono”.

Here is the rough draft:

He is based off the Bagot Goat.

He’s over an inch taller than Neue, and I decided to make his horns look like a “X” cause “X Tale”.

I didn’t know what to do with his pupils so I just did a X in one and a + in the other.

He’s a nervous boi.

Swapfell Neue Rough Draft

I’m gonna be doing both Swapfell and Fellswap since I really like both of them.

Swapfell Neue’s name is “Miriam”.

Here is the rough draft:

She is based off a Pygmy Goat, which means she’s really short. She’s actually the shortest of the AU Neues.

*Note: The names might change in the future*

Underswap Neue Rough Draft

The name for Underswap Neue is “Merriweather”.

Here is the rough draft of Merri:

She’s based off a Finnish Landrace Goat, which the females do have horns.

In case it’s not obvious, this version of Neue (along with most of any swap au) is female. The lower goat half will extend to the chest area, causing the upper chest/shoulder area to become opaque to transparent instead of the stomach area.

She’s taller than Roman, but shorter than Neue.

I forgot to mention, but the reason they don’t have any clothing yet is because I want to complete off the body designs and I’m still thinking about what they would wear, so any suggestions are welcomed.

I also might change the mouth designs when I do a reference sheet for the variants.

Underfell Neue Rough Draft

Neue will have a different name in each universe to help differentiate from each other, so Underfell Neue will be called “Roman”.

Here is the Rough Draft:

So I based this version off a Pygora Goat, which is a bit shorter than an Angora Goat.

Roman’s hair is definitely more unkempt than Neue’s, his horns are more outward than upward, he’s also shorter and thicker than Neue.

There’s one bit of information that I’m still debating on, but if you look at his design you might be able to figure it out.

Neue Redesign

I’m getting back into the fandom, and getting motivation from the random Undertale AUs videos that pop on YouTube, I’ve decided to redesign my oc/ship child of Sans & Toriel: Neue.

I’m also gonna draw the alternate versions of this character along with some information about them.

Here is the rough draft of Neue, which will also act as a base for the alternate versions:

I decided to give them a more satyr look seeing how they’re half skeleton/half goat monster, I’m also gonna have each variant be based off different breeds of goats.

For Neue, they’re based off the Angora Goat (I don’t know how to draw curly hair), the torso area will be opaque to transparent.

So I’m starting to get back into the Undertale AUs fandom, and looking back through my past art, I found some rough pencil drawings of what I think was a ship child between Toriel & Sans along with other AUs:

After getting a lot of Undertale AU content on YouTube, mainly videos involving the Murder Time Trio, I got inspired to redesign this character and their alternate versions.

Now I know alternate versions would probably not be likely in a few of these AUs, but this is more for designing and personality building between the versions.
