Could not agree more, I have donned my Wizards hat for many a task Such as and primarily shoveling snow, (Hardwinds) pff a light bow of the head then the rim of the hat protects my face from all the harsh breeze and freeze that That tries to greet me in such a chilling manner, Why yes yes indeed, I could not recommend more.

Real observations since I started wearing a wizard hat daily:

- Brim is so wide that I stay BONE DRY taking walks in the rain

- Brim can be positioned to block the sun from ever getting in my eyes AND keeping it off the back of my neck

- The pointed top part creates an air pocket, keeping my head from getting hot or squishing my hair as it might in a ball cap

- Hat can easily be pulled down over the tips of my ears without looking dumb, protecting them from wind chill

- Strangers say they like my hat, giving me the chance to tell them that I am a wizard

- When you’re wearing a wizard hat, ALL OTHER FASHION CHOICES become secondary, allowing you to branch out with style

Embrace ego death. Stay protected from all elements. Wear a wizard hat.

Remember, every time you cast fireball, you throw a frog wizard at your target - comment from Cara

I just had a converation with Jezza McLeod on Cara about this and imagine a wizard that has an army of tiny frog minions that he just chucks at people and they are all wearing tiny wizard outfits.

You hear him shout: "GET HIM BOIS" and suddenly you are overwhelmed by a tsunami of of tiny frog wizards on fire charging towards you, all screaching like chipmunks

Hey did you see my Evil Stone (he/she/it). Pretty cool huh? They say it could corrupt me and make me evil but they probably all just want the Evil Stone for themselves.

how to confound a centaur confounder

centaur: hold it right there, you can't just ride through my fields uncontested! I'll lose my credibility if we don't battle or something

confounder: that's fair. how about we-

centaur: and it can't be a pun battle. I heard what you did to the sphynx

confounder: darn. okay, what if I beat you in a horse race?

centaur: Ha! Alright, where's the finish line?

confounder: That tree over there. Where's your horse?

centaur: let me just call him

confounder: you're not a horse, this is a wait what

centaur: SVENTAL! HERE BOY!

*massive six-legged, four-eyed horse gallops around the bend wearing a saddle made for a centaur*

confounder: that is NOT a horse

centaur: it IS a horse, it just has six legs and four eyes and is large enough for me to ride. You agreed to a horse race, you didn't specify it had to have four legs.

confounder: ...

centaur: ...

confounder: I hate you

centaur: you brought this upon yourself

I Have Found A Solution!

So, obviously classic wizard robes aren’t wheelchair friendly. (Alright, admittedly this isn’t common knowledge and also this definitely isn’t a problem for most but listen, this is a problem for me and I’m pleased to present a solution for it nonetheless.)

The issue is in the sleeves and the length of the robes. The traditional trumpet style allows them to get snagged, dirty, and caught in the wheels.

A cartoonish doodle of a wizard in a wheelchair with arrows pointing out long dirty sleeves and the train of the robe as a snag risk

This is distinctly not an issue with other mobility aids such as canes and crutches, these wizards are fine to carry on with their trumpet sleeves simply rolled up if needed.

a doodle of two cartoony wizards in traditional robes with long sleeves and floor length hems. one holds a wooden walking stick and the other uses forearm crutches.

Now, one solution might simply to shorten the sleeves and hem to be out of the way, but that looks rather silly so I won’t do that. Instead I propose the more elegant design of a hanging sleeve to maintain that flowy magical feel while allowing for better range of motion.

To the left, a quick sketch of a wizard in cropped robes, basically looking like an oversized t-shirt of a wizards robe with arrows pointing to it that say “short” and “awkward”. And to the right a simple diagram of a hanging sleeve which is a big oversized sleeve slashed open at the front so the arm can move freely out of it.

Honestly I just love the look of hanging sleeves in general and think more people should appreciate them, wheelchair user or not.

A doodle of a wizard in green robes with silver moons and stars. The robes have open hanging sleeves and fitted sleeves underneath. The wizard is holding out his arms to show them off.

In conclusion…

A doodle of a wizard in purple robes with gold stars sitting in a wheelchair. He is holding up his hand in a thumbs up gesture. The hanging sleeves are open and pinned back out of the way of the wheels and the robe is hemmed so it is not dragging on the ground. There is a back view of the chair that shows the hanging sleeves tucked up and out of the way under the wheelchair handles.

you have to pretend to be a wizard sometimes, for your health. the obvious method is d&d, but you can also open the dishwasher on cold mornings and raise your arms dramatically as you're enveloped in the steam, or you can find a really good stick to walk around in the woods with, or you can run a bizarrely dedicated rp blog on tumblr. but it's an important component of human well being to occasionally pretend to be a wizard.
