What is your favorite/most precious object?

Jet: My most precious object? It's my silver bass that Evander gifted me. *Smiling so big at the thought of them* To me it's so much more than an instrument as it is a physical token of their love at this point. And don't even think of harming it or else.

Evander: I don't really have a physical object that's my favorite or most precious, but I do consider music Jet plays and creates my favorite. I don't care what anyone says about that one. *Smiling as they say this*

Gunnar: I have a fluorite crystal tree I think is beautiful and have it on my desk for decoration. What? Who said lawyers are boring people who can't like beautiful things?

Marla: I have a croton plant I have in the backyard and it's huge. Took a while to do but it's impressive and I love it.

Who are your best friends/closest allies?

Jet: My best friends in life are Averi and my partner, Evander. My other friends are Ainsley, Aria, Elliott, Felix, Samantha, and Jasper.

Evander: Jet is my best friend even though he's my partner, but I think it's wonderful to have your partner be your best friend. As for my friend group, I have my two friends from college, Samantha and Jasper, and Jet's friends, Averi, Ainsley, Aria, Elliott, and Felix. Though out of his friends, I get along best with Averi, Aria, and Ainsley.

Gunnar: Just a few work colleges that I have close relationships with outside of work and my law firm partner.

Marla: Just some friends I have online from a few years ago I made when I was younger and hung out with often. Like to keep in touch that way.

Do you have any obsessions?

Jet: I think it's music and things that go into music production, but a certain someone says it's caffeine. Don't know why, I just have four bags of coffee and a large box of energy drinks I enjoy.

Evander: Have you seen my cabinet? It's tea. I love it and I'm a self proclaimed tea addict.

Gunnar: You want to know what the best type of coffee is for your taste, I'm the one who can tell you. I've tried a lot of different coffees to know what the differences are.

Marla: Landscaping designs are my thing and why I have a half complete degree in it. It's so beautiful and interesting that you can't help but love.

What's your family like?

Jet: *silence and slowly blinking* Can we go to the next question? I hate talking about this and I don’t want to either. Don’t care for any of it at all and want to forget about it all.

Evander: My family is very warm, accepting, and supportive. We are close knit and even though my sister and I are eight years apart, we’re very close and she looks to me as a role model which I’m honored to hold that position in her eyes.

Gunnar: I work a lot and I would love to have more time away from work to be with my family and son. But from what I hear, everything is going well and is when I’m there, so I’m glad and happy with that knowledge. Plus I will be able to have more time with them one day.

Marla: It’s very quiet and easy going. Can’t say that anything is going wrong with it and things are going well. Nothing to complain about.

Do you look up to anyone in particular?

Jet: I've always liked Salem from Ravenge and her demeanor, as well as being one of my favorite bassists who influenced me. She's truly one of the best and is an advocate for so many things that she is a certified badass.

Evander: Those who use their skills and voice to do good in the world on the behalf of others. It doesn't matter what their skill is that allows them to have a big enough voice, as long as they have that, I hold those people in high standing.

Gunnar: I wouldn't say look up to as much as I admire these types of people; those who overcome their difficult circumstances and come out on top despite everything. Those people have a drive few possess and that in of itself is highly admirable. So I suppose you could say I look up to those people by my reasoning.

Marla: I don't have anyone who I look up to as I don't care for that sort of thing. It's nothing to me and I won't bother.

Thank you @elizaellwrites for tagging me in this! I have a total of 18 characters who make an appearance in my WIP J&E and I'm going to do something with each of my characters for this tag.

My prompt was: Calling to ride shotgun in a car or vehicle.

Evander: I'm probably gonna regret doing this with my sedan and being a teacher for you Jet, but let's try to make it out in one piece alive, okay?

Jet: You think I can dive? There's a reason I only have a permit and not a driver's license yet. Evander can tell you all about that.

Averi: So you think I'm a disaster of a driver? Hey! I got us there in one piece and only two hours late. That isn't improvement from last time? Then I call shotgun! At least I can still be in the front that way.

Serna: I'm an expert at finding where we need to go as we're out. You want to enjoy the day and do fun things, you want me riding shotgun.

Gunnar: I'm six foot two. The back seat is going to have me compressed. I'm taking the passenger seat since no one is going to be sitting behind me and I can adjust the seat.

Micha: I'm not driving on that crazy road myself so I'm leaving that to you my dear.

Jasper: Why can't I have a little royal treatment and have the passenger side for once and not drive all the time?

Amber: I won the game! Passenger side is mine!

Derryl: I get to ride shotgun home if I win this final game of bowling against you. Is that a deal unless you think you'll lose?

Liber: You? Driving? This ought to be good. Let's see if you can get us there with time to spare. I'm going to be silently judging you along the way, just so you know.

Marla: Honestly, I'd get more enjoyment out of this trip if I didn't have to drive, so I'm not going to. Not doing anything I don't need to on vacation.

Elliot: How else do you expect me to appreciate the scenery during the drive over? You've been there before and I haven't so I get to be in the passenger seat to see the beautiful scenery leading up to our location.

Ainsley: I'm not usually in the passenger side when I go out with all of you, but I actually like it more than driving despite being the best driver out of everyone here.

Samantha: You know where this place is you wanna take me out so show me sweetie. I don't know where it is and you want to treat me, so if you do this I'll pay for the dinner. Deal?

Aria: After all that I am going to sit in the passenger seat. And we're not taking the freeway next time I drive! Too stressful for my blood.

Milliey: *Running out to the car against her friends* I call shotgun! I called it!

Felix: How else would you be able to hear the new rhythm I came up with if I don't call shotgun? Exactly, you want a drummer this is the territory that comes with, now let's go pick up my new kit.

Sasha: You'll get yourself lost if I don't go with you. Remember the last time you refused to look up the address before you left? I'm directing you.

“I don't have all of the resources I would like to fully help with that,” They started, hoping their information was useful. “But I do know a good starting point.”

“That’s fine and I can go off of that. Also, I’m sorry for being clueless with getting my documents.”

Daunting

After all, it would only be a longer and more painful road ahead if he were to fall backwards in his progress. Even if progress isn't linear, that wouldn't be good for him in any way. Still he had a daunting path ahead of himself they hoped would be easily traveled if they could be able to help.

Last Line Tag

Thank you @thewritingautisticat for tagging me in this! I've managed to work a bit on the next chapter for J&E and this is the beginning part of the chapter.

Scrolling through the catalog for another movie to put on for background noise as he worked on his song for the music venue’s competition and putting one on, he heard his phone go off with his social’s message tone. Who would be messaging him at this time? Unlocking his phone he hoped it was Averi as he liked talking to his friend and could probably use a break until Evander came back home.

Reading the unread message it was from Liber McCoy. His now ex-boyfriend. What he messaged him wasn’t an apology for what he did, but rather the opposite as if he were taunting him from across the country at his college. It read like he was pleased with his actions and not knowing if Jet was safe or not afterwards abandoning him with no way back on his own.

Being in the situation he was in, he almost forgot about Liber and all the emotions from that day flooded back as he blocked and threw his phone away from where he sat. He didn’t have time or the mind space for any of his bullshit that he threw his way. Curling up on the floor, he tried to forget all the pain he inflicted on him so callously as he ignored the tv, his bass, the notebook and pen, letting it all go into the background of his mind.

Thank you for tagging me in this @foxys-fantasy-tales! I haven’t wrote much on my WIP (Jet and Evander) as I’ve been working on some ideas I have planned for the rest of the book and other life events. However, I have worked a little bit on the next chapter.

I will tag @k--havok and leave an open tag.

When he was done looking up everything and just looking at something on his phone, they caught his attention so they could tell him something. Setting his phone down they complemented him again on his playing and his confidence on stage.

He said, “That’s how I usually am when I play, not like when you first heard me.” remembering how he felt when they first heard him play. 

“Well, I’m impressed either way with your skill.” They replied.

“I guess that’s thanks to all the time I spent alone with my old bass since I was alone most of the time.”

“What about that friend of yours?”

“Moved. I was alone after that with no one but my bass. Gives a sense of peace when I play. Plus the alone time helped refine my skills and knowledge of music.”

His demeanor didn’t change as he revealed this fact about his life and not having anyone, almost seeming like this was supposed to be the norm for everyone despite it not being true. Hearing this made them feel sympathetic for him.

They asked if he realized that shouldn’t be something to be normalized for someone. He shook his head, dismissing it and still thinking it was normal. After being dismissed, they dropped their attempt in letting him know that being alone like that wasn’t something people typically go though. Now wouldn’t be the time to talk about that anyway as it wouldn’t be very productive and he was still adjusting to his situation.

I was tagged by @k--havok to do this tag. Thank you for tagging me! I will tag @elizaellwrites and will leave an open tag for anyone else who wants to do this as well. I'll leave a copy of the questions at the bottom.

For this, I will use Evander from my WIP since they are my favorite out of the characters I have currently and a lot of my thinking revolves around them. Also, they are the one who lives rent free in my head the most out of all my characters and they tend to be the first one I think about when I get an idea.

5 words to physically describe your OC

Intimidating, androgynous, tattooed, gentle, adaptable.

Who inspired your OC?

No one inspired Evander from where I can think of. I just drew them sometime early last year along with some other characters and I had an idea about what their character was like that went on from there.

Give me a song to define your OC

Going to bend this one a little bit as they have two that reflects their character. I'll add some information about how it works with them as well.

They're very headstrong and stubborn that this fits perfectly for them. They won't back down from something they know they can help and will go until the end of it. This also goes for what they've experienced already with Marla when helping Jet and dealing with her case.

This is more of their hidden anxious side they don't outwardly show others and is heavily reflective on themself. They don't have anxiety about their entire character, but a part of their personal identity they've been secure in for years.

^^ have to keep some secrets here as this will have it's own chapter in the future.

If I met your OC on the street how would they greet me?

Evander is open to new people and would have a small conversation with you if you wanted. If it's a simple "Hello, how are you?" they would respond and ask you the same. They're friendly with people they don't know or know well, so you'll generally get a friendly interaction. If you're someone they don't like and are on their bad side, good luck getting them to speak to you unless they're stepping in to help someone.

Can your OC be your best friend? Why?

Evander is overall a warm and gentle person, but their intimidating side can be a little scary. They won't harm you in any way and would prefer themself to get harmed instead, but if you didn't know that it's a bit off-putting. On the other side of things, they are one of the gentlest people who will be there to help you. They are also very patient and understanding with people, within reason if the other isn't wanting to anything and having them do everything. Ultimately, I'd say there's a good chance we might.

In this excerpt, Jet decides to play his bass a little bit with Evander as his audience for a bit.

After the pause, he said that he was versatile in playing styles and could play almost anything. Plus, he was testing out how well this bass would do with a few playing styles and was more than impressed. They asked him to play something heavy as that was something they wouldn’t mind hearing at the moment.

“How heavy were you thinking?” He asked, switching into the correct humbucker position.

“Surprise me.” They smiled before adding, “You’d be surprised what kind of heavy music I love.”

“Alright, just let me know if it's too heavy.”

He began on the lighter side to start with that quickly turned into a heavier style akin to heavy metal. Knowing how some popular songs had this, he understood how to do this and executed it well.

It was deep, aggressive, and heavy hitting as he played quickly. His tone was, as he thought, imperfect to how his tone normally was on bass. Still, he was happy with it and just had to get to know this bass a little better. To be expected.

Most of what he played was on the heavier side and accented with the lighter playing. It was about the average length of a song of this genre. They enjoyed what he played and complemented his skill with a bass guitar.

From the WIP where Evander goes to work while Jet is left at the apartment.

Right now he didn’t feel like playing very much and hasn’t played really since he had his silver bass either. He decided to put a movie on the tv and try to find something to eat later on. Maybe later on he would look up places around the area to visit.

The movie he picked was a part of a duology and ended up watching the second after the first finished its run time. Looking up the movies for more information about them, he found out that they were adaptations of an old fantasy novel.

Finding the novel in question, it was published about a decade before he was born and had reasonable popularity after its publication. However, it never had the popularity the movies received and seemed to fade into a bit of obscurity.

Sitting up again, he promised himself that he would make the best of what happened to him. Having someone so willing to help out a literal stranger like Evander was doing for him was rare, if not almost unheard of. None of what they were trying to do was going to waste.

Change

For now, he had to get himself right before anything could begin to move forward and change. After all, things were how you viewed it right? At least that’s what he thought, wanting to see things in a better way.

Because

After they were done getting ready to go, wearing a light blue t-shirt and a pair of indigo jeans, just having to get their shoes on before heading out, they saw Jet in the living room with his phone. He was just scrolling through something and almost looked blank. They saw the time and it was nearly time to go and didn't want him to worry about anything because of that, remembering how he seemed uncomfortable when they told him over the weekend.

These are the seven paragraphs from my WIP I'm working on. It happens after Our first meeting where Evander is about to go to work.

“Forget about that; you're not going to be a burden to me. I wanted to help and that's exactly what I'm going to do, no matter what's needed.”

“Thank you for that, Evander. You don't have to do any of this for me.”

“I'm going to anyway. This apartment is going to be a safe place for you and a place that you can feel comfortable living in.” They said, wanting him to know that he has a safe place in the apartment, always. “It's just as much your place to live as it is mine and I want to know that and tell me what you need.”

“Really?” He sounded surprised by that and was trying to hide it in his voice, looking at them.

“Definitely, this is a safe place and you don't need to worry about anything like that.”

He looked down, almost like he was saddened by their reassurance that he was safe and didn't have anything to worry about. It was something that should've made him feel better but it didn't look like it had that effect. They asked if he was alright from his reaction.

Nodding slightly, he thanked them for being so kind and willing to help him out when he was nothing more than a stranger to them. They had no obligation to do anything they've already done for him. Still, he was grateful for it.

“If you say so confusing E.” Jet teased them a bit more, quickly hopping out of the passenger seat and laughing to grab his bass as they put their forehead in their hand with soft laughs coming from them. 

Heads Up, Seven Up Tag

I've been tagged by @k--havok to do this tag. Thank you for including me in this! I will tag @elizaellwrites and @faeveries since I'm still new to the writing community here.

This is an excerpt from the last WIP I wrote and have yet to post, but will be up soon! Here's eight lines from it and it's the start of a heavy scene with Jet and Evander.

After trying to do some things on their laptop to give Jet some space and being completely unable to, they went to check on him to make sure everything was alright. This was eating away at their nerves like corrosive battery acid.

The quietness in the apartment was almost unsettling and their worry about him wasn’t a good combination. They could hear some soft crying from him nearing the dark room and turning on the light once they entered. Jet was covered up and had his head under the blanket, tightly curled up in a tight, tiny ball underneath.

Sitting on the bed next to his curled up body, they softly said his name wanting to help ease the pain, or at least try. He whimpered out that he wanted to be left alone right now with his pain. Hearing this, they knew he was more than hurt and they couldn't bear leaving him to suffer alone like this.
