wow! my Nintendo year in review looks great!

I'm not sure what to say except that my 11-year-old self would FLIP OUT if she saw all these not-stick-figures with her name on it, so now that I know what just a few years can do, I can't wait to see what happens next 💜

Year In review type deal, it was hard finding examples that I can show publicly for some months since I've spent so much time on design documents and character sheets. this year has definitely been more of a shift in style and workflow, rather than a straightforward "improvement" and I have to say I'm alright with that.

Excited to see what catches my eye in art and multimedia going forward, and to make more progress in my work.

Also November has 2 pieces, but it was kind of a diptych, so what are you gonna do?

A broken promise - Michael Myers x reader

A/N: I cried a lot while writing this. He’s kind of OOC in that he talks a little, but it’s the love of his life so…

Warnings: Angst, gore, sad boy Michael Myers, mentions of death, main character death.

Word count: 987

Michael kneeled in front of the mutilated body before him and stuck three fingers into one of the wounds he had created not very long ago. 

Flashback

Tears streamed down the girl's face, hot rivers flowing endlessly as she ran from who she thought was the love of her life. She ran into her now-dead neighbor's house, locking the door and shoving a bookcase in front of it. Thump. Came the first knock, slightly quiet and almost unnoticed. She covered her mouth with her hand as she struggled to scramble up the stairs, never taking her eyes off the door.

Thump! Slightly louder this time as Michael shoved his body against the door. A silent scream left the girl's covered mouth as she came to her senses and searched the house for something, anything.

BANG! The door crashed against the ground as Michael stumbled into the house after throwing his 6'7" build at the door. He searched the entire house before checking one room. The bedroom of Mrs. Jameson. 

He knocked at the door. Once. Twice. Three times. Right before he did the fourth he heard the sound of a window opening. In a panic as to not let her escape, he smashed through the door, causing the unprepared girl to let out a scream. He stalked towards her, cocking his head to the right slowly.

She tried to back up but only ran into a wall. As he reached the petrified girl, she was shaking as silent sobs wracked her body. He reached down and started to choke her out. She struggled against his grip as he lifted her into the air, legs flailing every which way. As he watched her take her last few breaths before she passed out, she muttered a phrase that he was too blinded by rage to hear.

"I..lo-ve…you…Mik-ey. Goodbye…" He watched as her eyes closed and she fell limp in his grip. He dropped her frail body and it made a sickening thump as it hit the ground. He cocked his head and reached into his pocket to pull out his knife. 

He proceeded to stab her many times as his vision was red. Crimson flowed from the body’s many wounds, seeping out and staining the white rug her no longer beautiful figure laid upon.

Michael took a second to admire his work and walked out of the building and into the street.

He felt as if something pulled him back into the building. Something was wrong. Something felt wrong.

Now

Wait…, Michael recognized that necklace that adorned the body's neckline. That wasn't just any necklace. No, he knew that necklace. More importantly, who it belonged to. Y/N. His beautiful Y/N whom he would give the world. No. No no no no no! 

Who did this! They will pay for their sins! Memories flooded Michael's mind as he realized something. He hurt her. He didn't just hurt her. He killed her.

Flashback

"You'll never hurt me, will you Mikey?" The H/C girl turned to the man, the blue light from the tv gracing his rugged, unmasked features. He tipped his head down to look at his love, who was laying with her head in his lap. He grabbed her hand and pulled her up gently. He tipped her chin up so she was looking at him directly.

"I would never hurt you, my love. You mean too much to me. I promise to never hurt you. Never ever." He smiled. She grinned happily before pecking his cheek and feeling it flush against her touch. She giggled and laid back down, turning her attention back to the tv.

Michael couldn't seem to take his eyes off her that night. She was perfect. And she was all his.

Now

I..lo-ve…you…Mik-ey. Goodbye…

Her words filled his mind as he remembered. His rage had blind-sighted him. He put his head to the ground and let out strangled howls of pain and grief. He pounded the hardwood floor with his hand so hard that his hand became bruised and bloodied. 

He stuck three fingers into one of the wounds he had created not very long ago. He pulled them out and felt the blood run in burning rivers down his fingers and hand. He picked her body up and held it close to his chest.

"No no no no! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! I love you! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Goddammit!" He screamed into the open air as tears ran hot down his cheeks. He held his beloved in his arms and for the first time, she didn't hold him back. 

Her figure was still in his arms and once again, he was alone. And it was all his fault.

His body shook with silent sobs as he held her close. He felt her take in a shuddering breath and gasped. He grabbed her face as she opened her eyes to look at him. She smiled and stroked his cheek.

“Hi, Mikey.” She let out a cough that made him wince and blood spurted into the hand she covered her mouth with.

Happy New Year!

Hi guys! I’m so happy I’m bringing you all along into 2019 with me!

This post is mainly to sum up what I feel I have achieved in 2018, because I think it’s so important to take a minute and appreciate how far you’ve come towards meeting your goals. I’m also going to chat about 2019, just because. But before I do, I want to wish you all the best for this year. Work hard but look after yourself - you owe it to yourself to be healthy :)

So this time last year I was officially diagnosed with depression and generalised anxiety disorder. I did not leave the house at weekends or in the holidays. I avoided all contact with people. I was miserable and apathetic 24/7 and I just wanted to sleep or cry. I was too anxious to even go into a shop alone, let alone even think about applying to universities or plan trips abroad without an older member of the family. In fact, had I not been terrified of leaving the house alone, I would not be here to see 2019.

However, a very very good teacher of mine was my shoulder to cry on, and she encouraged me to finally get a GP’s help after years of struggling alone in denial. 2018 was my year of recovery.

I still have depressive episodes. I am still anxious. But on the whole, I am human again and I am okay. Fragile still, but able to see the good in situations and not panic when I can’t. The chains that restrained my ankles are free, so I can put my best foot forward at long last.

As part of my recovery, I put myself out there. I visited universities from Birmingham to London, and I stayed with a host family for a week in Nantes. I was fortunate enough to be given a place on the Sutton Trust Summer School at Cambridge, where I met so many amazing people. I got closer to people I’ve known for years, too, because I know the time I have to see them every day is limited and fast running out. Although difficult at first because I do not respond well to change and time pressure, I know that this is the life I want.

This year is going to be my most tumultuous and scary yet. In 2 weeks, I fly to Berlin with my best friend, just me and her for my birthday. I am responsible for the budget (oh Lord) and looking after us. On said birthday, I will find out whether Cambridge accepted or rejected me. In the summer, I will sit my A Levels and find out if I achieved my goal - and I will leave the school I love so dearly forever. In the autumn, I will be settling into a new city as a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed fresher at whichever uni I choose, ready to embark on my chemistry degree. And I will have to leave behind so many people, which kills me inside.

But I know that the people who are supposed to stay in my life absolutely will. And alongside all the nerves and the sadness, I am optimistic that I will meet so many amazing humans at uni and beyond. I have been waiting for the chance to spread my wings and become a strong, independent woman for myself, and this year is when I’ll get to do it.

There is only one thing I do know for certain: my life at the end of this year will look incredibly different to how it is now.

MH Live action Spoilers:

How I felt watching the MH live action movie trying to be supportive, but dying a little inside every time Jekyll and Hyde were brought up.

2016: This Year at NASA!

As 2016 comes to a close and prospects of the new year loom before us, we take a moment to look back at what we’ve accomplished and how it will set us ahead in the year to come.

2016 marked record-breaking progress in our exploration activities. We advanced the capabilities needed to travel farther into the solar system while increasing observations of our home and the universe, learning more about how to continuously live and work in space and, or course, inspiring the next generation of leaders to take up our journey to Mars and make their own discoveries.

Here are a few of the top NASA stories of 2016…

International Space Station

One Year Mission…completed!

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko returned to Earth after spending a year in space. Testing the limits of human research, findings from their One Year Mission will help send humans farther into space than ever before.

Commercial Resupply

Commercial partners Orbital ATK and SpaceX delivered tons (yes literally tons) of cargo to the International Space Station. This cargo supported hundreds of science experiments and technology demonstrations crucial to our journey to Mars.

Mars

Expandable Habitats

The Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM) was one of the technology demonstrations delivered to the space station in April. Expandable habitats greatly decrease the amount of transport volume for future space missions.

Booster Test Firing

In June, a booster for our Space Launch System (SLS) rocket successfully fired up. It will be used on the first un-crewed test flight of SLS with the Orion spacecraft in 2018. Eventually, this rocket and capsule will carry humans into deep space and one day…Mars!

InSight

This year we updated the milestones for our InSight mission with a new target launch window beginning in May 2018. This mission will place a fixed science outpost on Mars to study its deep interior. Findings and research from this project will address one of the most fundamental questions we have about the planetary and solar system science…how in the world did these rocky planets form?

Solar System and Beyond

Juno

On July 4, our Juno spacecraft arrived at Jupiter. This mission is working to improve our understanding of the solar system’s beginnings by revealing the origin and evolution of Jupiter.

OSIRIS-REx

In September, we launched our OSIRIS-REx spacecraft…which is America’s first-ever asteroid sample return mission. This spacecraft will travel to a near-Earth asteroid, called Bennu, where it will collect a sample to bring back to Earth for study.

James Webb Space Telescope

In February, the final primary mirror segment of our James Webb Space Telescope was installed. This will be the world’s most powerful space telescope ever, and is scheduled to launch in 2018. Webb will look back in time, studying the very first galaxies ever formed.

Kepler

In May, our Kepler mission verified the discovery of 1,284 new planets. Kepler is the first NASA mission to find potentially habitably Earth-sized planets.

Earth Right Now

Earth Expeditions

Our efforts to improve life on Earth included an announcement in March of a collection of Earth Science field campaigns to study how our planet is changing. These Earth Expeditions sent scientists to places like the edge of the Greenland ice sheet to the coral reefs of the South Pacific to delve into challenging questions about how our planet is changing…and what impacts humans are having on it.

Small Satellites

In November, we announced plans to launch six next-generation Earth-observing small satellite missions. One uses GPS signals to measure wind in hurricanes and tropical systems in greater detail than ever before.

Aeronautics Research

Our efforts in 2016 to make air travel cleaner, safer and quieter included new technology to improve safety and efficiency of aircraft arrivals, departures and service operations.

X-Plane

In June, we highlighted our first designation of an experimental airplane, or X-plane, in a decade. It will test new electric propulsion technology.

Drone Technolgy

In October, we evaluated a system being developed for the Federal Aviation Administration to safely manage drone air traffic.

Technology

Electric Propulsion

We selected Aerojet Rocketdyne to develop and advanced electric propulsion system to enable deep space travel to an asteroid and Mars.

Spinoffs

Our technology transfer program continued to share the agency’s technology with industry, academia and other government agencies at an unprecedented rate.

Centennial Challenges

Our Centennial Challenges program conducted four competition events in 2016 to spark innovation and enable solutions in important technology focus areas.

1. Gravitational waves are real. More than 100 years after Einstein first predicted them, researchers finally detected the elusive ripples in space time this year. We’ve now seen three gravitational wave events in total.

2. Sloths almost die every time they poop, and it looks agonising.

3. It’s possible to live for more than a year without a heart in your body.

4. It’s also possible to live a normal life without 90 percent of your brain.

5. There are strange, metallic sounds coming from the Mariana trench, the deepest point on Earth’s surface. Scientists currently think the noise is a new kind of baleen whale call.

6. A revolutionary new type of nuclear fusion machine being trialled in Germany really works, and could be the key to clean, unlimited energy.

7. There’s an Earth-like planet just 4.2 light-years away in the Alpha Centauri star system - and scientists are already planning a mission to visit it.

8. Earth has a second mini-moon orbiting it, known as a ‘quasi-satellite’. It’s called 2016 HO3.

9. There might be a ninth planet in our Solar System (no, Pluto doesn’t count).

10. The first written record demonstrating the laws of friction has been hiding inside Leonardo da Vinci’s “irrelevant scribbles” for the past 500 years.

11. Zika virus can be spread sexually, and it really does cause microcephaly in babies.

12. Crows have big ears, and they’re kinda terrifying.

14. The North Pole is slowly moving towards London, due to the planet’s shifting water content.

16. Artificial intelligence can beat humans at Go.

17. Tardigrades are so indestructible because they have an in-built toolkit to protect their DNA from damage. These tiny creatures can survive being frozen for decades, can bounce back from total desiccation, and can even handle the harsh radiation of space.

18. There are two liquid states of water.

19. Pear-shaped atomic nuclei exist, and they make time travel seem pretty damn impossible.

20. Dinosaurs had glorious tail feathers, and they were floppy.

21. One third of the planet can no longer see the Milky Way from where they live.

22. There’s a giant, 1.5-billion-cubic-metre (54-billion-cubic-foot) field of precious helium gas in Tanzania.

23. The ‘impossible’ EM Drive is the propulsion system that just won’t quit. NASA says it really does seem to produce thrust - but they still have no idea how. We’ll save that mystery for 2017.

Year In Review

Phew, today marks the 2 year anniversary of my starting this blog. It was a slow starter the first year, trying to figure out exactly what to post and how to talk about my work. The blog underwent a huge shift this past year, in tone, content and importance for me. It has become a place to experiment with new techniques, make jokes, write music, and share what goes on in my everyday life as an illustrator and designer. I plan on pumping up the volume exponentially this year on the blog and all things AE. Looking back at the year, I picked out a few posts I was particularly proud of and hope to match and maybe top in 2012.

2011 was the year of illustration. My work shifted heavily towards hand-crafted, fun imagery - a departure from my more precise and clean design previously. My 6 favorite images of the year pretty clearly show this trend.

My Year In Bicycles

I’d say my cycling enthusiasm level is now “avid.” It’s been about a year of serious riding for me (or since I was convinced to take my roommate’s 80s Schwinn road bike after he left for another coast of America). The bike was impossibly small for me and he’d kept anything related to comfort free of what he called the bi-cycle (top right).  I believe the frame was 51cm, with a plastic seat (I have to call them saddles now that I’m avid), and awful, bare drop handlebars. These words may mean little to you - simply put, the bike was a pain in the ass. And hands. And back. But, I speak of the bike in an ungrateful tone, which is completely the opposite tone I’d like to be speaking of it in. The bicycle was my entry into the mania that now permeates my everyday life. I returned the borrowed mountain bike (top left) I’d had for several years (having ridden it a handful of times [which was also far too small for me]) and set out every late-spring day on that little red beast to try to get my confidence up riding in the city. I’m getting ahead of myself however, I had to ride every day just to learn how to deal with something so foreign. The first time on a road bike is extremely unnerving and seems wrong - the way a lot of things you’ve never done and go against your basic human understanding of ‘how the world should work’ feel wrong. Two skinny inline wheels should not stay upright, especially when adding a skittery, lanky 140 pounder on top. Once you’ve given into the magical psuedo-science keeping a paper thin bike upright, you have to deal next with the posture a classic road bike thrusts you into. Riding on the top of drop bars is not comfortable, especially for a person with wide shoulders and lanky arms (me, I’ve already mentioned my lank) - but what’s worse is the leap of faith you must take to enter the lower part of the curved drop handlebar. If flashes of your face grating against the sidewalk don’t instantly pop into your mind, you’re a brave person with a brain problem.

Suffice it to say, I learned to ride the bicycle without too many issues - and through daily riding and an ever increasing interest in how the parts worked, I was well on the way to my present compulsion, need, and desire for all things bi-cycle. After taking the Schwinn to a bike shop and complaining of outrageous back pain, I was told the bicycle was about 4 sizes too small for me. They set me up on a monstrously large bike and it fit and was a revelation to my atrophying back. So I got a new bike (not pictured) and donated the Schwinn to a friend who still rides it lovingly to this day. My new bike was a low-end fixed gear that was promptly stolen after 3 months of use outside a bagel shop. I hope someone is enjoying it (or its various stripped-off parts) - I did, for the short time I rode it as it gave me a brief but thorough look into the world of fixies - a dangerously associative world I may not have escaped if my ride hadn’t gotten jacked. Despite thinking not all that highly of the New York fixed-gear order, I got another fixed-gear bicycle (bottom left) - but a nice, proper one. It was not long before I threw a freewheel on there though, and indulged myself a little coasting. The rest of My Year In Bicycles involves a lot of conversing with my old roommate who bequeathed the Schwinn to me about bicycle parts, trips we’ll take, and bicycles we need to buy. We’ve both begun a small collection at 2 a piece with a 5 bike plan in the works. My latest acquisition is an old French road bike (bottom right) from the mid 70s that I rescued from a Salvation Army and cleaned, painted and rebuilt as a fairly faithful restoration. I’ve begun training on this monster for a long trip myself and the Scwhinn’s original master are planning. I will always think very fondly of that little bicycle and the awfully wonderful time I had riding it.

How Joseph would react to having a crush on you :

At first he would start to deny it and saying "you're just a friend"

He then would start realising you are not just a friend because Gillies pointed it out that he was staring a lot

He would always try to strike up a conversation with you to find out how to impress you

But what he didn't know is that y/n had a crush on him

In interviews with the cast he would always try sitting next to her and whisper in her ear

Months go by and he finally has the courage to ask you on a date

Let's be real he'll be a complete gentleman and bring you flowers, pull out your chair, pay for dinner, open your doors and ask if he can kiss you

You try to keep your relationship a secret from the public but the cast already knew and Claire accidentally outs the relationship in a interview

Some fans are happy about it because Joseph is happy and smiling more

Others are hateful but you both don't care
