The Predictive Validity of Intimate Partner Violence Warning Signs
Abstract
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is harmful and prevalent, but leaving abusive partners is often challenging due to investments (e.g., children, shared memories). Identifying warning signs of abuse early on is one prevention strategy to help people avoid abusive long-term relationships. Using university and online samples, the present studies identified warning signs and protective factors that predicted overall, physical, psychological, and sexual abuse cross-sectionally (Study 1) and prospectively over 6 months (Study 2). These studies demonstrated that the number of warning signs a person experienced and the frequency with which they experienced those warning signs predicted overall abuse. Seven warning signs emerged as predictors in both studies (e.g., “My partner acted arrogant or entitled”), suggesting that they are particularly important for identifying potentially abusive relationships. This is the first research to identify warning signs that prospectively predict abuse; findings have implications for IPV prevention efforts in academic and public contexts.

Breaking News: Olympics consider whether or not to invite stoat athletes next year.
After the shocking win of Jaysohn Lastname last week, conversations about letting them compete in next years competition have commenced.
“The fact that he broke the record on his first try is astounding,” Peter Ueberroth, chair of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, said.
Lastname’s long jump measured at 14.7 meters, almost doubling the previous record of 8.9 meters.
Bob Beamon, previous record holder, argued that it wasn’t a fair competition.
“It’s like letting a cheetah participate in the 100 meter dash. There’s just no way for a human to win,” Beamon said.
It did come to a surprise that the stoat was able to jump so far. While the other competitors only had two legs to run on, each step was longer than a stoat.
Nevertheless, when Lastname went up to jump, he suddenly grew large, blue arms, and used them to hurtle himself the impressive distance.
When asked how he did that, Lastname simply said “Jaysohn rules!”
According to Dr. Tara Steel, stoats are able to absorb and use radiation for their incredible feats.
This has led to some questions about how safe it is for these stoats to compete. Dr. Steel has previously said that the radiation is only a minor danger, releasing radiation comparable to that released by the sun.
“Yeah, it should be fine,” Dr. Lila Lastname, Jaysohn’s sister and first stoat physicist, said.
The UN has currently stalled in recognizing the land within Ukrainian borders as it’s own country.
Jeane Kirkpatrick, US ambassador to the united nation, explained that there is very little political gain for such a move.
“These stoats are just little guys,” Kirkpatrick said.
There’s also the problem that these stoats have very little economic or social ties with the rest of the world.
“It also feels a little weird to have a country named Stoat Place.” Kirkpatrick explained. “I think it would help their efforts to change the name.”

I think one of the biggest things to remember is the difference between a diet that helps you lose weight (which can be full of crappy foods but if it’s low enough in calories then yes you will lose weight bc calories in calories out), a diet to make you eat more healthy (which does not guarantee weight loss even if you’re eating whole grains and fruits and vegetables every day), and a diet to get more fit (which is usually different for everyone’s fitness goals such as getting as much protein in as possible, eating a ton of calories to bulk or less calories to cut, etc). Someone will make a list of foods for healthy eating and then someone will be like “ummmm actually if I ate all of those foods then I wouldn’t lose any weight bc that oatmeal bowl is like 600 calories and that’s too much” when that wasn’t even the point in the first place. Weight loss, healthy eating, and fitness focused diets can have a lot of overlap, but it’s not always interchangeable. Like when people gain weight as a vegan. Like yeah you gained weight, you ate a double decker impossible burger with soy bacon and extra cashew cheese with a side of Oreos every day. Where did you think those calories were gonna go, to space? You ate foods you considered to be more healthy but you ate it in abundance. And at the same time you can eat 1200 calories of pizza and McDonald’s every day and lose weight bc you’re in such a caloric deficit. Is it a balanced and healthy diet of whole foods? No but health wasn’t the goal for you, just weight loss by any means possible. Just pay attention to the terminology being used when people discuss food with you bc that can change the output significantly.

Compelling such huge, complicit companies, through strategic and context-sensitive boycott and divestment campaigns, to end their complicity in Israeli apartheid and war crimes against Palestinians sends a very powerful message to hundreds of other complicit companies that “your time will come, so get out before it’s too late!”

Plestia's name is special. It comes from the first group of people who lived in the land of Palestine who came from the Aegean sea. They were known as the plestia tribes who lived there for 5-6 centuries. The name "plestia or flestia" later led to the name Palestine, the country we know now.
