Oh gosh, I've done so many gelphie headcanons I can barely remember them, so I'll take the easy way out and just do Glinda lol.

General

she's clumsy, not in a 'trips often' way, but in a 'bumps into the corners of tables enough times to have a permanent bruise on her side' way

also: her hand-eye coordination is shit

she tries hard to be timely and organized but forgets the little things like drinking water and eating meals

she's also easily distracted in a 'elphie holds her hand so she doesn't go darting off in crowded places' way

she's not big on exercising bc she hates sweating

her parents believed in corporeal punishment

she's scared of needles (hence her ears not being pierced)

she color codes everything

she's a bit touch starved

she loves the snow

she's a visual learner - verbal instructions go in one ear and out the other

she's really good at mimicry/impressions

she's a poor sleeper

she's terrible at navigation

if there were other languages in oz, she'd be very gifted at learning them

she's always been insecure which is part of why she relies on validation from others so much

she was a "late bloomer" in many ways as a toddler. her mom homeschooled her so she wouldn't stand out amongst her peers

she was a very quiet child

she rehearses conversations with herself

she learned pretty quickly how to stim in 'socially acceptable' ways

she's sensitive to texture & clothing, part of why her uniform is custom

she gets lost in conversation easily, esp if there's background noise

she became obsessed with learning all the "rules" for fitting in

she has echolalia (mostly internal, but occasionally out loud)

when she feels herself slipping in class, she'll pinch herself hard to give her brain something to focus on

sometimes the adhd part of her brain that leaves things messy or is impulsive or has time blindness conflicts with the autistic part of her brain that likes things organized and structured and planned and it's exhausting

she has rejection sensitive dysphoria!!

she feels really strongly about the idea of someone else feeling disappointed or let down

she doesn't have a strong sense of self

she has no idea what masking is. truly. no clue she's doing it

I'm listening to the False Prince audio book right now (major spoilers in this post btw!!!!!!!!) and I'm still in the first chapter but the reader (Charlie McWade) has read most of the narration in a pretty flat tone while giving all the characters wildly performance accents, EXCEPT SAGE, who has a basic American accent just like the narration and so far only has slightly more life injected into him. Conner and Mrs. Turbeldy are both being read in these performative British accents.

If you've read the books then you know that not only are Conner and Turbeldy both Carthyan but SAGE, who is actually Jaron, is ALSO carthyan and spends most of the first book pretending to be Avenian and faking an Avenian accent.

WHICH IMPLIES THAT THE ACCENT OF THE AVENIANS IS JUST AN AMERICAN ACCENT. And the Carthyans are British.

Help??? Is Sage's accent going to change from American to British as the book goes on and he "learns" to fake a Carthyan accent? Is the narration going to change to a British accent at the end when we realize that he's been Carthyan all along?!! Or has he been in the Avenian accent for so long that now he just thinks in an Avenian accent?

Help I know I'm probably reading too much into it but this is insane i can't stop thinking about it, Sage/Jaron's accents and sarcasm play SUCH an important role in the series so it feels SO wrong that all the characters would get essentially Pro Voice Actor Treatment while he gets to be read in a flat American tone regardless of what façade he's putting on at any given time.

Indian/Hindu James Potter headcanons

• The Potters gave James his very boring, British name because they were worried he’d be teased if they gave him an Indian name • James worked hard to be good at quidditch, mostly because he enjoyed it, but partly to defy the stereotypes that Indian people weren’t very good at it (what with the popularity of flying carpets in the Eastern hemisphere and the Indian team’s appalling performance in the World Cup) • The boys celebrate Diwali every year by decorating their dorm and the common room with hundreds of lanterns and after the first year the house elves help out, Mrs Potter always sends them all sweets and gifts • One year, James set off fireworks in the great hall at dinner, McGonagall made sure it didn’t happen again • As Holi always falls on the day of a full moon and Remus is too ill to take part, Sirius suggested bringing the powder paint with them to the shrieking shack and celebrating in their animagus forms •The powder always clumps in their fur and sticks to the damp walls of the shack, making it actually quite a cheery place in other circumstances • As James is bilingual in Hindi and English, he will not only swear or insult people in Hindi, but also makes most exclamations of excitement or affection in his mother tongue too • Lily thinks this is extremely cool, James starts speaking in Hindi more often •James is also a vegetarian Hindu and greatly missed his dad’s Mughlai cooking when confronted with the somewhat limited and flavourless vegetarian options at Hogwarts • That is until Peter had a word with the kitchen elves and brilliant Delhi dishes like vegetable biryani and mattar paneer started appearing on the Gryffindor table
