Why do hindu rights posts have so few reblogs? Because hindus are cowards. They cannot even reblog stuff raising awareness about their own community even if it’s on Tumblr, a platform that provides anonymity. We are nothing like our ancestors. We are weak, vulnerable and pathetic and it sucks.

It’s easier to reblog shayari or desi stuff instead. Ik because I’ve been there. I know how it feels to be a Hindu. I know how it feels to look the other way and numb your heart but sometimes—

We just don’t flipping care.

My one friend group can't stop saying, "See you in hell!" in a cheerful voice instead of, "Talk to you later!" and my other friend group can't stop calling things "penis" instead of "cool" or "good", so I just unironically uttered the phrase, "Sounds penis, see you in hell," as I got off the phone.

Why are they pluckering their lips like this? Why are their eyes closed? Why do they look about to kiss?

Fanfictions and Hinduism.

Those who are active on Wattpad, might know that there are many many writers (including myself) who tend to write fiction over itihāsa or historical epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, purely for fun and our love for them. It seems very odd, yes, and we do get to see blasphemy there too. People love some characters, hate the others with a burning passion and there are hour long debates over human nature, characterisations, myths involved, folklores and the many versions both of them have.

We have OCs, we make graphics and video edits, we pair the said OCs with CCs and sometimes with other OCs. The comment sections are the most fun things because writers and their audience interact there. Some works are much more impressive than published paperbacks while some are simply atrocious. You know it, shades are everywhere.

Now, very recently did I come to know that in Tamil literature, a fictional tale that is weaved around a couple or more incidents or points coming from the purānas or itihāsas is called a prabandha. Fun, right?

We do get to see fanfictions in Hinduism by the name of Pancharātram by Bhāsa (the one who also penned Svapna Vāsavadattā) and Kalidāsa's Abhigyāna Shākuntalam. While the latter romanticises and adds non canon events to the canon event of Lady Shakuntala and King Dushyanta's love story, the former is about a "what-if" scenario based on the Mahabharata.

So, do we promote fiction writings on such stuff? Definitely. I got much into the Sanatana culture solely via such fictions. They promote higher thinking skills, brainstorming, even fun facts many a times if the author is literate enough. And is that different from disrespecting scriptures and our very own ancestors? Also yes. Because neither of these authors claim to strictly follow the canon events. You do not like something you see, click away. As easy as that.

Do I support all of them, tho? For sure not. There are some which whitewash the bad guys and blackwash even the divine figures. Some straight up induce cringe. But that's just my opinion. A debate is always based on facts, not personal opinions. So yes, you do you.

But are they also dangerous? Umhm. Look at the Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. One word : atrocious. Some modern day prabandha style novel which sat a little above average in my reading experience? Abhaya by Saiswaroopa Iyer is the one (she's also written Mauri, Avishi, Draupadi and a few more if I'm not wrong.) (Abhaya is an OC paired opposite Kanha and tbh their chemistry was chef's kiss jsjshdjsjd-)

Should you write such, if that is what you want? Yes! I'd love to read-

But do you have to be careful with the message you deliver via your work? Swayam vichar kijiye *wink wink*

Some fanfictions which I may recommend. Note : not all of them involve OCs. All of these are from Wattpad. The authors' usernames are in bold.

winter soldier - gelphie

The smirk grows, Morrible grinning something wicked with far too many teeth, and then-

She starts to chant. The words drop off her tongue in a steady rhythm, something ancient and powerful coloring her tone. Elphaba immediately recognizes the language of the Grimmerie.

Its effect on Glinda is immediate. Her eyes blow wide with terror, and she scrambles to move, nearly tripping as she shoves at Elphaba.

"Go!" she shouts, before she slams her hands over her ears and screams.

It's agonizing. It tears out of her in a mix of anger and pain, her eyes clenched shut and her nails digging into her temples.

"St-stop!" Elphaba cries. She tries to reach for the blonde, but Glinda flinches away, yelling wordlessly as she curls in on herself.

"Whatever you're doing, stop it!"

Elphaba can feel her magic sparking under her skin, her pulse racing as panic floods her system. Morrible is smiling, the chant falling from her tongue like she's said it a million times before, like it's almost habit. In front of her, Glinda crumbles to her knees.

"Glinda!"

She's saying something. Something too faint and choked for Elphaba to pick up on right away. She crouches closer, hands fluttering uselessly over the girl's shaking frame.

"Glinda?" Elphaba asks again, her worry spiking when a sudden stillness falls over the girl. "What are you saying?"

Glinda lifts her head slowly, jaw clenched and eyes burning as she hisses, low and hard.

"Run."

It's the last thing Glinda says before her hands drop from her ears, her shoulders lock and straighten, and her previously twisted expression smooths completely over. Brown eyes, once full of fear and pain, are now dead and cold.

And staring right at Elphaba.

The blonde stands slowly in the sudden silence. Elphaba scrambles to her own feet, retreating hastily in a few awkward steps. Something is wrong. Glinda...she's gone.

Where just moments ago her friend stood, there is now an empty doll wearing her face. A puppet, ready to be pulled into place by Morrible's awful strings.

"Glinda?" Elphaba whispers one last time.

But the girl doesn't answer. Her eyes gleam with deadly intent, any trace of recognition or love gone in an instant. Elphaba's best friend is nowhere to be found. There is only the soldier.

And right now, her wand is aimed directly at Elphaba's heart.

Hc that when Jason got adopted and was introduced to the giant ass manor library, he was determined to read every book there(like any reasonable 12 year old would do upon finding out there was a whole ass library in their house) but he needed a way to remember what he thought of the books, and Alfred or Bruce or someone suggested some sort of social media or blog, so Jason made his new super secret social media book review blog

At first it was just another one of those random accounts, until it got more and more followers over time, and Jason expanded from book reviews to just random stuff, and eventually his acc was pretty well known. Only nearly a year into this endeavor(before the acc really got rolling), Jason got his first hater. This hater was Tim, who had discovered the acc while testing his online stalking skills and, still annoyed at the change in Robin, decided to be a little hater about it.

Time went on and the accounts following only grew with everyone knowing about Jason's very dedicated hater that was constantly arguing with him over random shit, either just on website or in dms. Then the acc stopped posting cause Jason, yknow, died.

Some years went by and Jason's acc turned into a little story of "hey you guys remember that one book review acc that made new reviews scarily fast then just dissapeared one day?" "Oh yeah, you remember their super dedicated hater? Such a funny time lolol."

Then the acc came back. And with the accs return came the little hater's return(with Tim now extra hate fueled) and the arguments continued but over time Tim became less and less cruel as his relationship with Jason got better and better(this is an au where they actually yknow, bond and stuff) and eventually, Tim admits to being the hater behind the acc and stops his shenanigans

When someone asks about where Jason's favorite hater went, he just replies "turns out it was my brother the whole fucking time." And Tim, having seen the reply some way or another, would never admit that he teared up a little at being called Jason's brother after so many years of hatred.

Why do you ignore genocide and persecution when it happens to Hindus? Why are we called propagandists for raising our voices? Who will speak for them if not other Hindus? How many will you brand as “sanghi and hindutvadis” for saying the truth?

If we don’t care then who will?

- No one.
