what she’s thinking: in general, wasteland baby isn’t just about sex for the sake of horniness and gratification. hozier very intentionally avoids lyrics that would objectify or degrade his hypothetical partner in any way and tries to remain gender neutral as much as possible to keep his music inclusive and relatable to all, regardless of sexual orientation and gender, and he does this not to claim superficial Woke points or as a marketing strategy, but because of the overarching theme of the album. the songs on the album are about making love in a genuine sense with an emphasis on love and how in a time so turbulent and fraught with war and hatred and inhumanity and cruelty, it’s important that we find ways to celebrate our humanity and ability to connect with one another through love and spirituality.

when i was 12 or something like that, my sister had this awesome teacher who’d let her borrow books and take them home. One day she brought home A Series if Unfortunate Events. You know when you see something and your first thought is ‘fvck, this looks epic, I need it in my life so I can find out everything about it.. right. Now.’ That’s how I felt when I seen the cover. She refused to let me read them so I had to wait until she fell asleep at night, sneak into her room, read into ungodly hours and return the book before she woke up without waking her’. Can we just… normalize teens loving their parents? Like obviously you’re not obligated to if your parents are shitty, but damn, I love my mom. She’s there for me all the time and sure we have rough patches but honestly she’s the greatest. Like. We need teens to know that they don’t have to hate their parents just cause.
