Just putting this out there for those who don't know much about Kashmir and the conflict since quite a few marxists (or leftists) have taken the position that kashmir is occupied and should be free; Kashmir is actually the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It's a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state. Kashmir is claimed by Pakistan and China (who have even lesser claim to that region). Pakistan is a state created by Islamists for Islamic fundamentalism as they refused to share equal power with Hindus, they violently cleansed Hindus from the region they are currently occupying. Kashmiri "self-determination" has been paved by cleansing Kashmir off of its native Hindu population. Pakistan has settled non-Kashmiris en masse to Kashmir so no voting would be fair. "Self-determination" = ethno-nationalism at the cost of native ethnic groups within Kashmir. why are leftists or Marxist even supporting this? You can argue against the military presence, but if there wasn't a military presence there then that'd invite more attacks against Indians. Sorry but not sorry that we don't want our people dead.

I'm a liberal. About as liberal as liberal gets in India: pro-LGBT, pro-secularism, anti-BJP (although Congress is full of morons at the moment so I can see why BJP is the best option for a lot of people), anti-Hindutva, etc.
I am also from Mumbai. A city that faced terror attacks every couple of years for nearly three decades. I watched on the TV as terrorists burned my city in 2008. Both my parents have a 'if we had taken our regular train/bus we might have been dead' stories. I don't know a single middle-class family that doesn't have a relative with a bombing/bombing-adjacent story. My grandmother used to panic until my mother got home from college after '93 happened. My mother was with 3-year-old me alone, on a day out not far away from where one of 7 bombs burst in 2007. When I was a small child, every time we travelled by a local I would imagine how the metal would twist and crumple if the train exploded, because it was shown so many times on news and in movies/documentaries.
I have seen what terrorism is. I have seen what terrorism does. The lives lost to it, the fear that people go through. Your husband goes to office and is blown up. Your son goes to college and gets burned in a metal coffin. Your sister goes to meet a friend and then is returned in pieces.
Generations affected by terror. And it's not just Mumbai. The same story has happened in Delhi, Kashmir, and so many other states. And it happened yesterday in Kashmir. But instead of grieving for those who died, the first instincts of some of these so-called liberals is to play PR games about Islamophobia. The feelings of live Muslims are somehow more important than the blood of dead Hindus. Kashmir is our fault. Pahalgam is our fault. Everything is our fault.
I am a liberal but these kinds of liberals enrage me. Their politics is so important to them that they deny basic humanity. Wake up. They didn't ask for your political affiliation, they asked for your religion. "My Muslim friend-" dude FUCK your Muslim friend and their feelings, I got hundreds of dead and thousands of injured INDIANS in my city alone.
Fuck these kind of people. They've gone from anti-Hindutva to anti-Hindu. They sit behind their glass screens and defend with their dying breath the same gun that will be used to kill them and their loved ones. If the first thought after hearing about a terror attack is the worry for potential Islamophobia instead of horror about the incident and grief for the dead, then you've lost the plot.

Yes, I also support several modern ideas and some which could be called "liberal" too. Let’s get the facts straight-
Kashmir was ancient Hindu land with thousands of years of Hindu history which was slowly and ruthlessly erased over centuries to turn it islamic. The last Hindu monarch of Kashmir acceded the land to India after which Pakistani muslim tribesmen invaded and attacked the state.
In 1990 a mass exodus of native Kashmiri hindus took place which happened because of the killings of Hindus in the valley by Pakistan backed Islamic militants. Today the Kashmiri Hindus remain refugees in their own land.
On April 22nd, just three days ago Pakistan backed terrorists hunted and killed unarmed civilians in Pahalgam. Pahalgam is the base camp from where the Amarantha Yatra often takes place, it has been a hindu shrine for centuries. The civilians who were shot down were asked for their Hindu identity, their aadhar cards and some were told to strip their pants and checked for circumcision before they were shot in-front of their children and wives.
Tumblr blogs and many on the internet buy into and perpetrate the idea of an “Indian occupation” of Kashmir. They forget to mention it’s Hindu past, the ethnic cleansing of it’s native culture and people.
Today Indians who have had historical rights to Kashmir where we’ve had our hindu pilgrims sights and our ancient history are being demonised and shown as colonisers 👇

YES three non hindus were killed, in which, one tourist was Israeli and another tourist was from Italy and one was local Kashmiri muslim man (who got killed because he was trying to help otherntourists).
BUT this DOESN'T change the fact that hindus were specifically targeted.
Every religion has its own fault whether it is Hinduism or Islam but it is our responsibility to take responsibility about these faults that are in our respective religions.
Hinduism doesn't teach violence and how do I know? Because it's my religion but I also know that some soo called extremist hindus did commit heneous acts (e.g. sati pratha and castism) on the name of Hinduism. And as a "Hindu" I do agree that there are some faults in my religion.
And I can't say anything about Islam confidently because it's NOT my religion but I sure do hope that it doesn't teaches violence. But even if it doesn't, many still have used this religion to commit heneous acts against humanity and you (if you are a muslim) should take responsibility for that. If there are some faults in your religion then take responsibility for it and try to reform it.
Just like how every drop of water makes an ocean, if everyone (and this means everyone) should call out to things which are wrong instead of sugarcoating them.
I may have sugercoat many things in past and I do take responsibility for that but now, today as I speak, I have reformed my thought process in hope of becoming a better version of myself.
And trust me, if someone like me can, then you can aswell.
