How I dress every day for work versus how I and all the other Kai stans be dressing the day Monstrosity comes out

If I had a penny everytime a character had to go through horrors and killing monsters while slowly losing themselves and also telling themselves that they HAVE to lose themselves in order to get home to their loved ones, I would have two pennies.

Ody: so, you went through hell and back to return to your family while finding allies along the way who told you to be crueler in order to survive?

Kai: Yeah. You too?

With the announcement of Ninjago Legends: Monstrosity, all I'm thinking of what they were doing post-merge is

Lloyd: *Is cleaning the monastery*

Nya: *is defending a bunch of rock people*

Jay: *doing paperwork*

Cole: *somehow started a family*

Zane: *is in stasis at the time*

Kai:

Do you think Kai took liberties when heading to the Monastery? Do you think he stood infront of a mirror making sure he looked and acted the same before the merge happened? Do you think he cracked more jokes and laughed too hard when he was with Lloyd? Do you think he quietly mumbles the names of the people who helped him leave the realm of monsters in fear of forgetting them? Do you think the reason he talks to himself more is because its become a habit for him? Do you think he was relieved when Nya broke them out of the fear vision, and that he really was back home? Do you think he got deja vu seeing rontu and egalt? Do you think he found the nether space comforting? Do you think the reason he was so calm during everything is because he was desensitized? Do you think he's okay?

Because I don't.

Imagine me, in the middle of the afternoon doomscrolling, seeing a notification that Lego uploaded a new video.

Then, thinking it's a Dr s3 video, click it all excited thinking I can get some Kai crumbs.

Holy shit.

Years. Years of watching seasons full of comedic relief Kai, with seasons with SPECKS of Kai screen time. Just waiting for the day that he gets the spotlight he so deserves.

Just waiting for the writers to take advantage of his angst potential instead of automatically going to Lloyd or killing Zane for shock effect. Watching DR s2 over and over and over again because that's the only way I can see my boy in his beautiful developed self.

Reading fics and comics and headcanons because that's the only way I can really see his trauma acknowledged. Only way I can see how much he cares for his family. Writing my own oneshots out of PURE DESPERATION to see him actually put something into the plot.

Then.

Kai's life in DR in a nutshell

One thing ive been doing to combat ninjago spoilers is I feed them to my siblings. If I find an edit of the leaks, I immediate pause it, shove them in the closest siblings face, and make them react to it (volume off of course) I then watch their reactions to determine if it's good, return to doomscrolling, repeat. It's very fun, and actually helps if said sibling isn't actually into ninjago and just watches it with me because they find my reactions funny.

S5 possession has a fan favorite scene where Kai gets over his fear of water to save Lloyd. But what if the waters were more violent at that specific time? Or if Kai had just been a bit more afraid? What would happen if he had let go of Lloyd?

Kinda hoping for the arin confrontation to be a realistic and slow process instead of a quick "It's okay not to have Elemental powers you're just as good as the rest of us!!!!!!" Between Lloyd and arin, because the writers have done such a good job at emotional scenes so far.

hoping to have some big bro kai scenes too. Because arin, sora, and Wyldfyre are so similar to kai in regards to their own self worth and how they view their contributions to their team

Arin feels useless because of his lack of elemental power and wanting to grow stronger through not so peaceful means? Kai's whole green ninja spiel and the entirety of the tournament of elements.

Sora feels guilty about arin and feels as if she's only gotten this far because of her Elemental tech? S11, S12, S13, Powers stolen, Powers Lost, Powers negated by Vengstone.

Wyldfyre? Just look at her. Look at kai. She's basically a carbon copy

Conclusion,

Do you ever just have the immense desire to

remember that scene where Benthomaar tells nya how nyad merged with the sea to stop wojira the first time? well, Kai overheard it. and he's not gonna let his baby sister sacrifice herself. so what does he do? he sacrifices himself instead. duh.

Finding the scroll used to depict nyad merging with the sea, he deduces that it must be possible for other elemental masters to merge with their element, too. When ninjago fully floods, and Jay is passed out from drowning, he merges with the sun to dry up the flooded city and defeat wojira. Cue angst, because he's one with the sun now. and where is the sun if not in the sky?
