Summary: After watching Julie’s band you ae drawn to the bass player. You keep talking about him to Julie, but you don’t realize he is there listening each time.

Your jaw drops as the members of Julie’s band disappear with the end of the song, and you turn to your friend Flynn in shock.

“I can’t believe this!” you exclaim, and she nods her head in agreement.

“She has a lot of nerve keeping this band a secret from her best friends,” Flynn speaks through gritted teeth.

Unlike Flynn, you are too happy for Julie to be mad at her for keeping the band a secret. You are just glad that she is performing again, and this performance has to get her back into the music program.

The 1990s was definitely some of the best years of your life watching your brother grow more comfortable in his identity. Alex had kept his sexuality secret, taking the frustration of the secret by learning how to play the drums. You would often be found curled on the chair listening to his growing talent; Alex was a great brother.

Alex found friends in three local boys Reggie, Bobby and Luke, even a little more than friends with Luke briefly. By 1991 the boys had formed a band Sunset Curve with each other and a loyal fan in you. By mid-1994 the band had a fanbase and some gigs, but playing The Orpheum was the goal.

Luke had admitted to Alex, he had feelings for you, and with a lot of encouragement from Alex, he approached you. Luke had been focused on music since his parents gave him his first guitar, so relationships weren’t even on the backburner.

“Hey.” Luke spoke, pressing a kiss to your cheek backstage, “Missed you.”

His hair tickled your skin, bringing a bright smile from the teenage boy and a deep blush from you, private time wasn’t as often as it once had been. After Luke’s fallout with his parents a few months back, he had couch surfed between Reggie and Alex’s rooms; he wasn’t allowed in yours.

The day after playing the Orpheum was anything but what Luke expected. He wanted to celebrate with Julie, Alex and Reggie, but most importantly, he wanted Y/n to be here. Except she wasn’t, and he had been looking for her all morning until Julie eventually came to the studio with the bad news.

Y/n had gotten in an accident on her way back home from the Orpheum after Julie and the Phantoms’ performance. Her car had been hit by a drunk driver speeding down the opposite lane, his vehicle diverting onto Y/n’s lane before the collision. It had sent Y/n flying in the driver’s seat, hitting her head badly against the dashboard whilst the windshield shattered when her car rolled over on the hood, sending shards of glass everywhere.

the LGBTQ rep is IMMACULATE. the plot between willie and alex is so cute, and their chemistry is literally so good

the songs are FIRE. I haven’t heard original songs this good since hsm/camp rock era

julie (played by madison reyes) can sing so well it honeslty blows my mind. her acting is also so so good. 

the three boys have geniune friendship without any toxic masculinity and it is honestly so refreshing. they’re not afraid to show their feelings and I LOVE THAT

it’s honestly just casted so well. some teen/ya tv shows are cringey but this one is not i promise you

it stays mostly light while touching on heavier subject lines 

its genuinely really funny

the jar jar binks joke had be actually laughing out loud 

an amazing villian. he gives me dr facillier vibes.
