I'm so so tempted to get h word with this but I shan't bc I'm in the mood for fluff rn––

⠀kjand but fr tho that would be so cute. I think that if he would write his name on your skin, he'd do it super casually, too? And I don't even think you'd recognize that the loops and the swirls he draws on your skin are anything more than simple shapes at first, either.

⠀Like, the two of you could merely be basking in the sun's warmth from the crow's nest on the ship, you half-asleep and Kazuha curling around you. His one arm is cushioning both your head and his while his other is draped around your middle. Even though your eyelids are threatening to close, you begin to see a pattern in the soft movement of his fingers on your skin. The longer you think about it, the more you realize that he's been tracing the same shapes into your skin over and over for the last couple of weeks.

⠀"Kazuha," you say around a yawn. His hand stills, probably surprised you were still awake. "What're you writing?" you ask sleepily, though an eye is open to look up at him.

⠀He blinks, then a smile comes upon his lips. "Hm? Oh, it's nothing to worry about. My hand was merely feeling a bit restless is all. Did I wake you?"

⠀You snort at his poor attempt to redirect the conversation and pull away slightly to look at him better. The hand that was writing on your skin comes to lightly grip you, preventing you from moving too far. When you regard him, your gaze is narrowed, if not still from how drowsy you are.

⠀"You've been writing the same thing on my skin for weeks by now, Kazu."

⠀His smile widens. "Have I?"

⠀You huff in faux anger, but from how he's gently pulling you back into his chest, you know he doesn't intend to tell you soon.

⠀"Rest, love," he hums, pressing a kiss to your forehead, cradling you in his arms. His hand from earlier settles on your middle again. "I'll tell you one day. Maybe."

⠀He chuckles when you scoff, but eventually you bury your head in his chest, and within seconds your breathing evens out and he knows you've truly fallen asleep.

⠀Kazuha sighs in contentment, closing his eyes as he rested his cheek against your head. His hand begins to move again, similar movements that he has indeed been repeating for some time now.

⠀Kaedahara Kazuha, he writes with the tip of his finger. It's a mark of love, an unseen sign of his devotion that only he knows has been written into your skin.

⠀Underneath it, however, he writes something slightly different.

⠀It's your name, so lovingly and carefully scrawled, but instead of the surname you currently use, he writes Kaedahara, instead.

⠀He sighs once more when he thinks about it, his chest warming at the thought. The name he had drawn on your skin isn't just a sign of his love–– it’s a promise, too.

synopsis: 0.5k ; when venti tasked him with giving people advice for their romantic feelings, he wasn’t expecting someone to say your name.

warnings/genre: jealousy, it’s fluffy if you squint, stuff from the windblume festival event?

His legs were sore.

That was the only thing Aether could think about at this point, it wasn’t even the afternoon yet and he felt worn out. He’d been running all over Mondstat, doing chores for other people, helping other people. It wasn’t that he minded it at all; he liked helping people, plus they compensated him.

But he was tired. All he wanted to do was take a break. He’d agreed to help Venti though, regardless of how many other people he’d been doing favors for today.

“One more,” Venti smiled. “That guy over there, his name is Deacon.”

His face was oddly familiar to Aether, but it took tired eyes a few moments to register the knight uniform the guy was wearing. Aether nodded in response, and was then walked over to greet the guy.

Most of what he was saying went over Aether’s head — he couldn’t help it, he was half-asleep. All he really needed to do was pay attention to whatever signal Venti gave anyway.

“...uh so, I don’t really know what kind of gift Y/n would like. Any ideas?”

Wait.

Surely this guy was not talking about the same Y/n that Aether had in mind… right? Sure, he’d never actually told you how he feels, but the constant, playful flirting had to be enough to steer people away. He always hoped it did, anyway, at least until he could gather enough courage.

Though he looked over to Venti, he ignored the bard’s signal. Venti’s signal was clearly one of assurance, but instead, Aether shook his head at the guy.

“I don’t think you should. Y/n… I don’t know, they never seemed into you, even if that’s kind of blunt to say. Uhm, aren’t you on duty right now though?”

It wasn’t a lie; Aether was positive that you didn’t even know the guy’s name. But still, the honorary knight wasn’t supposed to be so bitter, wasn’t supposed to get jealous so easily.

“Yeah, yeah. I am. Thank you though, I think I’ll reconsider it.”

As soon as the guy was out of earshot, Venti’s voice chimed. He had a snarky expression on his face, he looked so amused, but for once Aether couldn’t laugh about it like he normally would.

“So, are you going to be giving anyone a windblume then? Y/n, maybe?”

“...It’s not like that.”

“Jealousy is a somewhat common emotion, it’s not that hard to see. So go tell Y/n how you feel, what’s the worst that could really happen?”

A lot, apparently. He supposes it’s not as bad as it could be; you didn’t reject him, but the thing is, he didn’t even tell you how he feels. Now he’s standing beside you, awkwardly, unable to say anything.

“You ok, Aether?” Your voice was gentle and laced with concern. Such a simple thing caused his heart to flutter, and yet you probably had no idea.

“Hm? Oh, yeah, I’m all good. I think I just need to relax for a bit. I’m tired is all.”

You smiled sweetly, then moved to wrap your arms around him. He buried his face into the side of your neck, letting out a quiet, content hum. He just hoped you couldn’t feel his heart beating out of his chest.
