there is an on-going femicide in quebec, canada

and it’s not received the proper attention it deserves in the Canadian news, so I thought it would be good to make a post for ppl who aren’t Canadian as well to be informed and help the victims’ families, organisations and women’s shelters.

femicide is defined as the murder of women based primarily or solely on their gender. in almost all cases of femicide, the killer is a man close to the victim, most likely a romantic partner or family member. so far in 2021, there have been 8 murders in the Quebec area. the majority of these victims are Black and Indigenous women. all of them are victims of domestic abuse.

MARLY EDOUARD was a 32 year old Haitian musician, radio host and producer. on february 19th, she called 911 to report that she was receiving multiple violent death threats and met with police officers. less than 48 hours later, she was found murdered in front of her building. say her name.

REBEKAH HARRY was a 29 year old black woman and mother of one young boy under the age of 12. she was murdered by her boyfriend, Brandon McIntyre. in 2013, McIntyre was found guilty of domestic abuse towards his ex-wife. he beat Rebekah into a coma, and she died three days later on march 23rd. say her name.

KATALUK PANINGAYAK-NALUIYUK was a 43 year old Indigenous woman, mother of six and grandmother of two. she was murdered by her partner, Peter Ainalik, who took his own life afterwards. her sister, who has herself been in an abusive relationship for 19 years, confirmed that Kataluk’s been a victim of domestic abuse by Ainalik as well for many years.

NANCY ROY was a 44 year old woman. she was murdered on by her 53 year old ex-boyfriend, Jean-Yves Lajoie. Nancy’s mother told news and police that Nancy had been struggling for weeks to break up with Lajoie, who was possessive as well as physically and emotionally abusive. just days after she left him, Nancy was stabbed to death in her home by Lajoie.

NADÈGE JOLICOEUR was a 40 year old black woman and mother of five children. she was stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Enock Fenelon, in his taxi before he took his own life on march 19th. her family confirmed Nadège was a victim of domestic abuse which lead to her murder at the hands of Fenelon. say her name.

MYRIAM DALLAIRE (28) and her mother SYLVIE BISSON (60) were murdered on march 1st in their home by Myriam’s ex-boyfriend Benjamin Soudin. Myriam had left soudin after she accused him of domestic abuse.

ELISAPEE ANGMA was a 44 year old indigenous woman from Kuujjuaq and mother of four children. she was murdered by Thomassie Cain, her ex-partner, who had just been released from prison after abusing her then attacking her once more after she filed a restraining order against him.

Across Canada, 54% of the victim services surveyed reported an increase in the number of victims they served during the pandemic. Calls for domestic disturbances were also up 12% during the first few months of the pandemic. Keep in mind that the majority of victims of domestic abuse never call the police or speak up about their experiences in fear of their abusers.

I haven’t been able to find any gofundmes and donation links set up by the families of the victims. however, here are women’s shelters in Quebec and in Canada you can donate to and resources for women in Canada.

These words have always been in the back of your head, lock up in the darkest corner in your mind ever since it made it's appearance when your dearest beloved had confessed his true identity to you, he was the Geo Archon, the god of war and contracts, the god of your home, and now your fiance, he was Rex Lapis.

He had lived longer than you, he had seen the world crumble and rebuild itself, he had seen wars, deaths, sorrows, and joys. He was older and wiser than you, had experienced far more many things than you, and he continues to do so with you.

Moments with him were precious, even when it's only the mundane things, from drinking tea at dawn to laying on your shared bed talking about the most random things late at night, every second of it is precious.

Furthermore, those precious moments seem to be playing in your head like a broken film as you hold your beloved close to your chest.

He was suppose to out live you.

The atmosphere feels cold, he feels cold, laying limp in your arms, amber orbs softly and faintly glowing as he stares at your crying ones, each drop of tears that fell from your face hurts him more than the huge wound on his stomach, he's running out of time, how ironic time was insignificant to him before, but now that he was at death's door and about to leave you behind, he wishes he had more time

"Zhongli please..." you beg, you beg him to not leave you, beg him to stay just a bit longer, for your sake.

"I'm sorry dearest" his voice was trembling along with his hand that reach out to your face, cupping your cheeks, caressing them as if they were made of glass, "I couldn't see you in that wedding dress."

You cried harder, held him closer, begged to whoever god that could hear you to make him stay longer.

"Dear Celestia, don't take him away from me."

His hand drop from your cheeks, tired eyelids closing to rest as he slip away from you, you call out his name, once, twice, god knows how many times, hoping- praying, that this is nothing more than a nightmare, that this just an illusion, a lie.

Through your grief, a thought came to light.

Rest, now he can finally rest.

Denki runs out his apartment, hoping you still hadn't gone down the elevator

when he sees you just stepping inside it, he sprints towards it, jamming his hand in the middle of the doors before they close and the way he does this is he literally dives onto the floor

"oh my goodness, Denki!" you yell, pressing the button to open the doors as you help your boyfriend up

"what the hell did you do that for?!" you ask

he looks up at you, pouting. "you didn't hear me say i love you? i yelled it before you left my apsrtment."

you break into a smile, stepping out of the elevator as you began to laugh at your adorable boyfriend

he enters his building back from the outside. "lock the entrances and exits." he tells the security guard and immediately the building is going on lockdown

his staff don't panic, they just watch in curiosity as their boss stands in the middle of the lobby with his arms crossed across his chest

the click and clacking of your heels echo through the now silent, enormous hobby filled with 80-100 people

you furrow your brows, surprised at the sight of your husband suddenly in the lobby

"shoto? weren't you just in the office?" you ask.

"i was, but you didn't say i love you back."

"sho are you serious-"

"i love you."

"you locked down your entire building-"

"i love you."

"you could have just called me!"

you hear some women giggling at how adorable your husband was and honestly, you would be too if you witnessed this
