salem frowned a bit when noticing the grape juice splatter all over his shirt. poor drew was kind of a mess at the moment and she couldn't help but laugh a bit. after drew spewed out his rapid fire questions salem stood up while offering a helping hand. "depends on the vampire film. obviously yes to queen of the damned. i think a shirtless vampire in leather pants that became rockstar is such a realistic storyline." she continued on after helping drew up. "the original fright night is great also, though i don't think you're a twilight guy if we're getting a little more modern." she didn't' really see drew as team edward or jacob. "i love kettle corn but i've never had the sriracha. if you hate it maybe your roommate may like it."
drew sits up and accepts the napkins, thanking salem as he begins to scrub the stickiness off of his hands. he waves a dismissive hand in response to her question, though it's with a grimace as he notices the fresh stain on his shirt ( boldly proclaiming him ' corpse of the month at family fun funeral home ' although with the grape juice splattered all over the front it looks like he's just some lame-o corpse with no special superlative ). "being immortal renders one immune to death," he points out, "not the tilt - a - whirl. do we need to have a vampire movie marathon ? do you like kettle corn ? do you want any flavoring for it ? did you know they make flavoring for kettle corn ? i have spicy sriracha at home, but i haven't tried it yet because what if it's too spicy ? have you ever tried it ? " it isn't until after posing his last question that he affords salem any time to answer him.
"listen, compared to all the others i'm seeing this is objectively bad. it's okay to laugh." salem chuckled while leaning back in her chair and eyeing the other popsicle stick houses around her. "it's not that you're creatively challenged but maybe this form of art just isn't your strong suit, or mine either for that matter." other than making music and writing salem hadn't really attempted any other forms of art like crafting or painting. she never really had interest for it. a sigh of relief left her lips at the mention of drinks. "please! they'll 'be on me for making you suffer through this embarrassing activity."
in all honesty, aviva doesn't know how she keeps getting into these ... creative situations. it's like the universe wants her to be damn picasso or something, and it's just not happening. not in this lifetime and probably not in the next. "demolished? that's kind of harsh." a chuckle as she glances over at the other's work. it's better than hers, after all. her own head shakes, a sigh of defeat as she focuses back on hers. "i don't see how they do this — and they say kids do this? am i, like, creatively challenged? what is the secret to this?" she leans back in her chair. "i need like, a drink. and ten minutes ago."
as salem plucked a few grapes off the vine she chuckled at solana. the age difference between the two of them seemed to slip her mind until it was mentioned. solana always reminded salem of a big sister no more than a few years older than herself. "you talk as if you're like....prehistoric babe. you're still pretty young. there's no real reason why you can't go on a bar crawl with me or be backstage at a concert." giving the other a playful nudge. she didn't have many older friends but it was refreshing to be around new people with different hobbies than hers. "i'm just now getting into it really and the most i know is that i hate those dry bitter red wines." she scrunches her face up at the thought. "i just don't have the taste palette for it honestly. whats your favorite?"
the joy radiating off of salem was infectious, and the slight ache in solana's cheeks from smiling so much was proof of that. " oh, super believable. " the comment accompanied by a soft bout of laughter. " now don't get me wrong, that's not a dig about who you are as a person. " she told her, plucking a few more grapes from the vine before tossing them into her basket. " you're young, there are way more fun things to do at your age. " truthfully, she would have been more surprised if she was a wine connoisseur. " i know i didn't do my first wine tasting until i was at least your ago. i just didn't have the palate for it back then. " now having a glass at the end of a long day was one of sol's preferred ways to unwind. at the admission, she rested a hand on salem's forearm, giving her a faint shake of her head. " i would never. "
salem smiled as leon wrapped his arm around her and planted a quick kiss on his cheek. it was refreshing the way they fell back into the groove of their relationship. "well...it's cute but not enough for me to want to buy it." she shrugged before placing the ring back down on the table. salem took his hand in hers as the two continued to walk by the various souvenir tables before stopping at a shaded off spot beneath a tree. "well usually i'd want to be backstage but i think i want to watch from the crowd this time." leaning back against the tree she draped her arms around his neck looking up at him. "that way i'll be able to get better pictures of you and i can vlog some of the performance for you if you want." salem had been taking pictures of leon on stage since the two became friends and it ended up becoming a reoccurring thing when they officially started dating. "who knows, maybe i'll run into jlo in the crowd and we can finally become best friends."
leon chuckles and turns the camera off. "okay so first, i'm not shoving the camera in your face, so relax," he teases as he puts the device back in his backpack. "vivi loves you. you know that." the man puts an arm around her waist as he too focuses on the souvenirs. magnets and notebooks and rings and macrame bracelets. "i like this one," he smiles pointing to a silver-colored ring that has a tribal pattern. "they're too small for my fingers tho. maybe you should get it." he squeezes her tighter against his body. being back together with salem feels natural. he'd missed her too much. having his girl back on his side is what makes him happy. "do you wanna see my show from the crowd or backstage? i can get you a pass."
"listen, i can respect the culture but not necessarily want to partake in it okay?" salem responded with a chuckle. "plus i don't care what science says, no amount of alcohol can kill the fact that literal feet were in there." despite the gross display in front of her salem gave birdie a nod in agreement to more wine. maybe it was her buzz or just the fact that she was in birdies company but salem didn't think she'd be enjoying herself this much at a winery. "as long as it's not any of that dry and bitter stuff we tried earlier. merlot was it? way too mature for me, i want something a little more on the sweet side."
" it's grape-treading, salem. it's culture. " birdie says it in a very over-dramatic, matter-of-fact tone, clicking their tongue, " and i don't think any icky foot bacteria can survive during the wine-making process. with all the alcohol and stuff. and they use wine presses now, duh. " a pause, eyes watching the people in front of them stomp away at the grapes in a large barrel. is that a barrel ? trough, maybe ? " that being said, that looks like a textural nightmare, so we're not doing it. more wine, maybe ? " of the not-food variety.
"god you're so embarrassing..." salem said with a chuckle while browsing over the souvenirs for sale. looking up for a moment she playfully flipped off the camera, it seemed like leon was filming content non-stop lately. the two had been practically inseparable since getting back together. "you do realize by constantly shoving that camera in my face you're giving me ptsd from my reality tv days right? please don't tell me we're turning into my parents, my therapist already has so much on her plate with me." she teased while turning away from the camera and fixating her gaze back on the souvenirs.
"and here's my lovely lady," leon grins behind the camera, as he points it to salem. he thought bringing a camera for the day would be a good idea to create content for his social media. and since salem arrived, he's been pestering her with the videocamera he borrowed from a friend. "say hi, babe."

"you know, in retrospect this probably wasn't the best idea." salem let out a small giggle before finishing off her fourth cocktail from one of the food trucks. when mallory suggested a pre-show pregame salem agreed without hesitation. now the two were drunk, or at least salem was, an hour before mallory's set. "we can either keep going or we can stop and try to sober up before you go on. either way im happy, i just need to be a little coherent for leon's set at least." she teased before pulling her phone out to check a text. "by the way, i am kinda pissed you aren't performing tummy hurts."

"okay so confession..." salem said while dramatically placing a hand on birdies shoulder. "i know i've been pretty open to trying a lot of random shit while being here, but i might have to draw the line at grape stomping." watching on as others participated she scrunched her face up. salem shuddered at the thought of mushy grapes on her bare feet. "i mean, i just don't think i could get behind drinking wine that other people's feet have been in. also is this really sanitary? i know it's tradition but isn't there a more efficient way to do this?"

salem beamed as she strolled through the vineyard with solana. she couldn't contain her enthusiasm as the two picked grapes and placed them in the basket. "i'm super excited for this, can you believe i've never done a wine tasting before either?" she said to the other. grape picking and creating your own wine was completely different from salem's typical idea of fun but she was quickly starting to adapt to trying new things while living in valpo. "please don't roast me too hard on how little i know about it all." she said a bit embarrassed. "my parents are more of the whiskey in a dive bar types than wine sipping on a vineyard you know?"

after spending some time on the tilt-a-whirl and wandering around the grape maze salem convinced leia to tag along with her to the petting zoo. she was shamelessly enjoying every moment of it despite all the kids running around and crowding the area. "there's no way i can leave here without taking one home with me. it isn't fair." salem said while holding the piglet in her arms and gently petting it. "i mean, i could literally just put her in my tote bag right now and go home. do you think anyone would notice?"

"it sounds good in theory but..." pausing for a moment she took a bite of her fourth churro of the day (so far). "lets say hypothetically we do break into the isidora facility tonight...are you even sure it's haunted? if i'm gonna potentially get a breaking and entering charge in a completely different country it's gotta be worth it." salem said to matty. she wasn't opposed to ghost hunting but she was a bit skeptical about the whole process. "also, wouldn't streaming it kind of incriminate us?"

between the glue and the popsicle sticks salem had a giant mess of a pile sitting in front of her that was supposed to resemble a small house. building one out of miscellaneous items seemed like a fun idea at first but salem quickly realized she wasn't as crafty as she thought she was. "fuck it, i'm officially giving up on this. we can just say my home was demolished." she threw her hands up in defeat and let out a small chuckle. looking over at aviva curiously she noticed the other was hyper focused on her own project. "please tell me yours is going better than mine did?"
salem wasn't really paying attention to her surroundings due to being too preoccupied with scrolling on instagram. suddenly she felt someone crash into her, knocking her phone out of her hand. "shit!" she exclaimed while quickly retrieving her phone off the ground before looking over at the other, realizing it was drew on the floor. "oh god...are you okay? here take these." crouching down she handed him a couple of napkins for the drink spill. she couldn't help but laugh a bit. "immortal? but you can't handle a simple festival ride? seems like that theory has just been debunked."

still unsteady from his third go around the tilt - a - whirl, drew stands in front of a stall selling what smells like food, but he won't be able to confirm that until his vision returns to normal. he tries to take a sip from his tall cup of grape juice, but his aim is off so he jams the straw up his nostril. his violent recoil ( combined with the wooziness which still plagues him ) knocks drew backward, causing a collision with another festivalgoer and spilling his drink everywhere. "sorry," drew groans, sitting on the ground as he rubs his spinning head. "i'm feeling a little ... " he splays his arms out above his head, waving them around wildly. " ... you know ? three rides in the tilt - a - whirl will do that to a person. even a suspected immortal such as myself."
"unfortunately my black cat stevie is so territorial and eats up so much of my attention that even if i could ethically own a real flamingo, she wouldn't allow it. she's basically my landlord at this point." she teased before giving birdie a playful nudge. the comment about the dominguez-herreras made her giggle. "funny enough i actually have. guess they're rubbing off on me." she smiled and gave birdie a reassuring nod at the choice of necklace. "that's actually perfect for you! the color suits your personality, you're like human sunshine. it'll be my birthday gift to you and anything else you come across here that you may want." salem had a habit of spoiling the people in her life but she didn't mind it, plus birdie had been such a great friend to salem in the short time they'd known one another.
birdie stops herself from apologizing again — old people pleasing habits die hard, and it takes them a moment of opening and closing their mouth before their brain catches up, “ okay — fine, but you know that’s hard for me. i think it would look cute ! i’d say you could get a real flamingo, but that just seems cruel. “ eyes widen for a moment as she looks at salen, a little nervous laugh falling past her lips, “ you been hanging out with the dominguez-herreras recently ? that’s a them thing to do. “ which birdie can rock with, in the event it’s not their own blood. a pause, “ i like amethyst, it’s pretty. buuut — what about this one — ? “ birdie holds up a little citrine necklace, the bright yellow color stunning in the light, “ it matches your amethyst one, even the shape. so they’ll represent us both ! “
salem wasn't sure what exactly was in a terremoto but after taking the first sip it already tasted significantly better than the everclear. "this is tasty which is probably super dangerous considering i could easily down like ten of these..." she sipped on the drink as esme spoke and shrugged, not really wanting to admit staying away from him was much easier said than done. "it's just so hard. im very out of sight out of mind when it comes to people but the more im away from him the more i miss him. that's actually super fucked up when i say it out loud isn't it?" taking another sip of her drink she nodded. "honestly? yes but i kinda feel like he's better off without me sometimes. did i mention how amazing this drink is by the way?" salem said slurring her words a bit, her body starting to feel warm from the alcohol.
esme has to think about that one for a moment. she doesn't think everclear is actually ... sold in chile, you'd have to get it from out of country, " short answer ? probably not. i'll make you something tastier, don't worry – no promises it won't get you just as fucked up, though. " she slides salem a very pretty terremoto, because if she's going to get her drunk she's going to do it kindly. the look for reassurance has esme looking away, unable to help the little cringe she does with her face, nose scrunched up, " i mean – will you ? you said that last time. where are we now ? " she leans against the counter, propping her chin on her hands, " do you want to get back with him ? or was that kind of a ... ' just for funsies ' thing ? "
"so you basically have to pick a class for your character? it's not something that's already set in stone? interesting..." salem replied as she looked over the page a bit puzzled. when she randomly decided to learn how to play dungeons and dragons she didn't realize just how much had gone into it and had to give drew props for knowing so much. "the weird ten sided dice confuses me a bit. how often should you be rolling? would i potentially get sent to jail for speeding like in monopoly? that's really the only board game i've ever played so it's probably not the best comparison." she let out a small chuckle and nodded. "i love kettle corn but i'm not sure if i've ever told you that so don't feel too bad about it." salem smiled reassuringly. "i haven't had a chance to try the churros here but i've heard leon talk about them before. are they really that good?"
when drew first met salem, he never would have been able to guess that their futures would be entwined at all, so sitting with her at his favorite place in chile while she asks him about dungeons and dragons of all things feels like a level of surreal that he's never before experienced except for during a twin peaks marathon. "let's just focus on one character for now," he suggests, sliding a page across the table. "if you want to be an elf than we can go right to your character's class, which is sort of just their job. the basic ones are fighter, wizard, cleric, rogue, and ranger. we're gonna need to roll later, too," drew announces, showing salem the dice he's been fidgeting with for hours now. "and probably some snacks. have you tried the churros here in chile yet ? do you like kettle corn ? i can't remember if i know that you like kettle corn," he confesses to her, frowning apologetically.
salem playfully rolled her eyes at his comment. "it's not a matter of being weak they're just disgusting." she says while pushing the raisins off to the side of the plate. as the two sat there quietly while the jazz music played in the background salem thought about how the night was going perfectly. having dinner with leon and their playful banter was reminiscent of how things were back when they were just friends and sometimes she missed the simplicity of that. looking over at him as he spoke she gave him a small smile, knowing the inevitable talk about things was about to happen made her anxious but she knew it needed to happen. "what am i afraid of? well..." salem thought for a moment. knowing exactly what she was afraid of when it came to her relationship always felt silly when she said it out loud. it wasn't like leon had never really given her any reason to be fearful of committing to him fully. "truthfully? you're the only stable thing in my life. with how i grew up going back and forth between places and being on tv i've never really had anything that i've felt completely secure in." pausing for a moment, she ran her fingers through her hair. "it just scares me to have finally have the stability that i've always needed but in a person. that's really the only way i can put it." it felt nice to be open with leon about why the relationship was so scary to her, her only regret being not doing it sooner. "also, me leaving had nothing to do with you. this last time everything got so hectic with trying to plan this next album that i felt like i wasn't being the girlfriend you needed. it was just all so much and i had a hard time juggling everything. i got in my head and figured you'd be better off with someone a little more put together than i am. with you being here and me being back home my insecurities were raging. i'm sorry for doing that in general, especially over the phone like that."
"well, i guess i have the right connections," he teases. the look on her face makes his heart warm. that look used to be reserved for him alone. when they went on vacation together to cape may. the beautiful sights that made her eyes light up. and he treasures those moments still. when she says she misses him, he can't help but fall for her even more. what is wrong with him? "raisins aren't for the weak," he jokes as he takes a bite of his own dish, quickly taking the raisins off her plate and adding them to his own. he stays quiet for a moment, the jazz music playing in the distance. "you know..." he says as he puts the fork down. he stares at the waves crashing in front of them. "i really wanted this time to be special. for both of us. and i know you don't like to talk about this. because it's hard. i know that." leon sighs and takes a sip of the beer he'd brought along with the food. "but... we have to talk about it," he finally says, now looking at her, looking for her eyes. looking for the love in her eyes. the worst part of it all, is that he sees it there. he knows she loves him. why is she so scared then? "what are you so afraid of?" there's no anger or anguish in his voice. not this time. he's genuinely curious. and he wants to know what goes through her head. maybe he'll understand her better. maybe things aren't doomed for them.
as salem stepped out on the balcony she was taken back by the view. the breeze from the ocean and smell of the beach had her in awe. "i can't believe you get to have this view everyday." she said in disbelief as she sat down and placed her plate on the table. the sound of leon humming to the jazz music was comforting in a way, she'd missed so many little things about him. "i've missed you so much, truly." salem blushed a bit while looking over at him. "i'm just really happy we could do this. i really miss being able to do everything with you." there was a lot she wanted to say but her nerves were starting to get the best of her again. she decided to turn her attention back to the dish and proceeded to eat a forkful. "okay, this is actually pretty good.." nodding a bit before continuing to eat, "but i think i could do without the raisins. the texture is just weird and i've never really liked them anyways."
leon chuckles at her words. he's always liked that she can drink as much as him, and party as much as him. "i'm not gonna quiz you right now, but beware because i might later," he teases back. after she's plated the food, the blond nods and they make their way to the balcony. "if you hate it, there's more for me, so it's a win-win situation," he chuckles and sits down on one of the chairs. the night is beautiful and the ocean waves crash no far from them. there's a jazz song playing in the beach restaurant across the street and leon immediately recognizes it as a duke ellington one. he softly hums as he sets his plate on the table. "i've missed you, sal," the man finally says, looking over at her. she's the person he wants to see every day. the one person he trusts with all his joy and all his darkness. it makes him sad that she could just decide one day to end things and leave him a mess. he hopes this time she won't leave. not again. not a third time.
"listen i know i tend to drink a lot but i do remember the important things." she said sarcastically. as she grabbed a fork from leon she shook her head, "no, i was waiting to be with you when i tried it. that way if it was gross i could give you hell for hyping it up so much." she teased while plating the food for the both of them. it felt like how things used to be back home with leon. she loved going out and traveling but most of her favorite nights were spent at their apartment with him and stevie. the thought of how things used to be made her a bit sad at how badly she'd messed it all up. "we should eat on the balcony. it's not too hot out tonight and i've been dying to see the view in person."
the nickname doesn't go unnoticed and a wave of nostalgia hits him. it's been a while since he's heard the word blondie. flashing images of their life back in new york speed through his head. the late-night conversations, drinks in bars, fucking in the car, her beautiful face when she's just woken up. "i did, didn't i?" he chuckles softly as he opens the container and the smell of pastel de choclo invades the kitchen. "i'm guessing you haven't tried it then." the man grabs two plates and silverware from the cupboard on the wall in front of them. maybe he's stalling. he doesn't want to have the inevitable conversation. it's looming upon them, like an elephant in the room. but for fuck's sake, leon doesn't want to burst this bubble.
the reaction didn't surprise her but salem couldn't help but laugh at her response. "milani stop!" she said before playfully rolling her eyes. "not too much okay? he's actually great. i'm just starting to feel like he may be better off without me and my bullshit." salem didn't have the best track record with men, her last relationship was an absolute dumpster fire. traumatizing would be an understatement. "this is going to disgust you but i'm actually so in love with him it makes me want to run away from him you know?" it sounded crazy but it was the truth. she flashed milani a smile at her compliment, "you're sweet. i'm not even sure if i'm in the place to hook up with anyone truthfully but it may be nice to meet some new people while im here."
those were always such great words to start a conversation. milani wished she was sitting in a swivel chair so that her turn towards salem had a much more ominous affect. she settled for clutching her luke warm cup of coffee up to her chest as she watched salem. milani didn't even need to hear the rest of the question to give out her very sound, thought out, and unbiased opinion: " HELL yes. " there was plenty of emphasis on the hell. " are you joking ? easiest answer i ever could've given. i never understood what you saw in him. or why. just know that you should get out while you can. " she concluded, eyeing the dress. " honestly ? you could walk into divine in a trash bag and hooves and still get attention with a face card like yours. " milani said, playfully taking salem's chin between her thumb and index finger for a brief moment. " but i would go for something shorter and boobier. "
"shut up." she said playfully at his compliment. salem was surprised at how leon still managed to get her flustered with his words and overall presence. they'd known each other for what felt like forever and her feelings for him completely consumed her in certain moments, this one being one of them. she chuckled at his question "did i make this? no, you're giving me way too much credit now blondie." salem didn't think to make the dish from scratch which probably would have been a nicer gesture in retrospect. "i found this place when i was out a couple days ago having lunch with a friend and saw they had it on the menu. so i figured i'd surprise you with some, i remember you used to talk about it all the time back home in new york." she smiled up at him for a moment, quickly tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
leon listens to salem, without interrupting her. the musical genius comment causes him to blush a little, and he watches her set his favorite chilean dish on the kitchen counter. did she make it? when she mentions she's sober, the man nods. her laugh, even her nervous laughter, he thinks it's cute. "you're such an idiot," leon ends up chuckling himself before walking up to her. each step that he takes, he takes it blindly. because he would let her break his heart a million times if it just meant that they'd always go back to each other. he's so in love. he's so hurt. "you actually clean up really nice," the blond teases her, standing so close to her that his heart rate goes up. he can't stop looking at her. his hand on the counter, next to hers, wanting to touch her but unable to do so. the love of his life. eventually, leon looks down at the food, "did you make this?" he asks softly.

"i figured maybe we could just hang out like we used to. i also have this song i've been working on and i need your musical genius." salem said after stepping inside. the tension between the two of them lingered in the air as she made her way to the kitchen to set the food down on the counter. "i also came over because i feel like i need to apologize. i know things have been weird between us lately and i just feel really bad about it. plus im actually sober this time so maybe it won't be a complete disaster." she nervously laughed at the last part, the last time she came over things went horribly and resulted in her leaving without the two of them really getting a chance to talk about the breakup or even about how leon felt about everything. salem wasn't sure if that would even be discussed tonight but above everything else she really just missed her best friend.
sundays can be a drag. especially since you still haven't recovered from partying -and more- from two days ago. the headache was gone but he was just, so tired. maybe it wasn't that he went that hard with the booze or the drugs, he doesn't remember doing too much. but seeing salem there, it made him miss her so bad that his body was literally aching for her. he sits on the living room sofa, scrolling through the ubereats app on his phone when he hears three knocks on the door. frowning, leon wonders who it is. he opens the door and is surprised to see her. she looks so good in his bowie t-shirt, and whatever she's got in her hands, it smells great. when salem opens her mouth, his heart melts. a small smile creeps onto his face and he pinches the bridge of his nose before letting her in. "i haven't," the blond closes the door behind him. "thank you."
salem let out a small chuckle and shook her head. "i promise it's okay, don't apologize. if i could i'd find a way to bring the band to you." luna's disappointment was valid despite whatever salem had going on. she shrugged a bit at the question. things were weird at the moment between her and leon and it was particularly hard to put into words why. "honestly? things are kinda just...up in the air at the moment i guess?" ( if that's what you would refer to hookups and constant bickering with your ex as anyways ) despite being the one that ended things in a moment of distress she deeply regretted it but had the feeling she'd done enough damage in the relationship. "you'd have to make a salem voodoo doll if that's the case. i'm sad to admit that i'm the fuck up in this relationship and this is now the second time that i left him because i'm just allergic to stability apparently."
at the mention of the way salem's life was progressing, luna felt immediate guilt for her pouting. luna had only been separated from drew for a few months and the entire world felt like it was coming to end; and they hadn't even been together that long before the break up. leon had told luna was that he was going to propose. that kind of unimaginable love had to come with some unimaginable pain, and there they were moping about a band. " i don't need it more than you, i'm sorry. " luna conceded, pushing salem's hand that held the necklace into salem's chest. " i'm just more dramatic than you. " luna was probably more dramatic than the entire valparaíso region, but they didn't want to think about that. " how are you holding up ? all things considered. do you wanna talk about it ? i have some voodoo dolls i can die the hair a blonde color and you can really let your anger out. it really works. " luna knew from experience.

as salem approached leon's apartment food in hand she wondered why she was feeling butterflies in her stomach. things had been rocky between the two of them for a while now and it seemed like every encounter they had since salem's arrival in valpo resulted in some sort of conflict. the least she could do was try to smooth things over and apologize. she knocked on the door three times before he answered and realized it probably would have been smart ahead of time to let him know she was coming over but out of habit she figured it would be fine. a smile came across her face as he opened the door. "i bought a peace offering, pastel de choclo to be exact." salem knew it was his favorite dish. "please tell me you haven't eaten already?"
when salem left sariyah for a moment to go take a call from her mother in the bedroom it seemed like the other had everything under control in the kitchen. she came over to hang out with salem at her rental and said she'd found a recipe online she wanted to try. while salem chatted away with her mom on facetime she started to smell something burning and the blaring of the smoke alarm proceeded soon after. "uh- i have to go mom. i think something is one fire." she said a bit confused before hanging up and rushing into the smoke filled kitchen. "oh shit! okay..." she exclaimed while trying her best not to panic, it didn't wouldn't help any if the two of them were freaking out. salem noticed the stove and oven were already turned off (smart move on sariyah's part) before she proceeded to open up the balcony door to air some of the smoke out. "it's okay! we just need some ventilation in here. is your arm okay? did you get burned?" she was a bit flustered as she opened the oven door to let the smoke out. "we should probably step out on the balcony for a bit, yeah?"

the soup on the stove was boiling to the point of bubbles, which she could've sworn her tutorial said would happen. ( specifically, it said a slow boil but what was happening then was more like the race of the jets in a hot tub producing bubbles ). any confidence in her meal was quickly washed out by the pop of the soup pot boiling over. but that only seemed to be the catalyst. as she reached for the knobs to turn everything off, ignoring the burn of being splashed by the liquid battling to get out, smoke began to peak out of the oven. when the wailing of the alarm started, her own surprised scream matched its pitch as she backed away from everything. " i don’t know what i did ! " she exclaimed as she heard the rushing of footsteps entering the kitchen and raised her hands if in surrender. sariyah couldn’t pinpoint where she went wrong. perhaps the smoke pooling out from the oven like it was a magician’s trick was an accumulation of many mistakes. if she’s asked, however, she couldn’t tell you what those missteps looked like. “ what did i do ? what do i do ? i don’t know ! i didn’t mean to ! ” embarrassment overtook her as she looked to the other in the room probably wondering the same thing she was : what the hell happened ?
she sucked on his thumb for a brief moment, teasing him. salem knew leon never cared about where they were and sleeping with her at this party almost felt like he had to point to prove. the point being he could still have her anytime he wanted and she hated to admit that he was right. the thought of being with another person hadn't crossed her mind since the two first started dating. as he tilted her head up she ran her fingers through his blonde locs while staring up at him. "you'd love for someone to walk in on us anyways." she teased as he lifted her up by her ass and slammed her against the wall. it was rougher than usual but she knew he had some pent up aggression towards her, that much to be expected. salem put her head back and closed her eyes as he kissed along her neck, gently tugging at his hair. the feeling of every kiss planted on her neck radiated throughout her body and between the alcohol and all the unsaid feelings she craved leon desperately. "please tell me you have something on you?
leon's smirk grows wider at salem's question. "when has that ever stopped us before?" he bites his lower lip as she sucks on his thumb. he presses it down her tongue as he grows bigger in his pants. this girl will be the death of him. and he doesn't mind. he doesn't mind she breaks his heart over and over again as long as he can have her like this, looking like a godsent angel who will make his sinful fantasies come true. of course, this is now. but whenever later happens, maybe he'll realize this was the worst idea ever. so, he might as well savor every single second. leon pulls his thumb away from her mouth and drags it down her chin, grabbing it and tilting her head up so she can look at the lust that's taken over his eyes. "door's locked. don't worry about it." the man picks her up and holds her by the ass, slamming her against another wall and kissing her neck. they're used to doing it rough. but this is another level. especially because there's so much turmoil beneath the surface.
