October 20, 2024 India Ink on Paper
Worked on this one at the same time as the rest of the batch I completed on oct 19, but didn't complete it until the day after because the brush pen I was using was running out of ink!
I tried refilling it with the india ink I had, but it didn't work. The pen definitely uses some special kind of ink to let it flow through w/o clogging.
Anyways, I ended up just dipping my pen in the ink and using it as a brush. It worked, it just wasn't the same experience :(
This drawing was fun. The unicorn ended up pretty well. Think I messed up on its body's form, though.

Unfinished one hour drawing challenge, and then me revisiting the thunk up character only to not finish it again.
Bottom two are random unfinished sketches.
December 30, 2023 - January 4, 2024
Sketched/inked throughout winter break, painted during jan 4 paint night.
I had first thought up a piece like this years ago, and it was meant to be an illustration of what I imagine when I listen to Wriggle by Cosmo Sheldrake. I found it over the winter break and got inspired to make this. Didn't take a picture of the old concept, but the bird and the masquerade mask were both parts of it. And me using the red/yellow colour palette was me staying true to the og concept.
Took a scan of the lineart before colouring in the mask. Had to do it twice because the painting was too big for the scanner 🥲. Still need to splice together the two imgs to get the full piece as one scan.
The gold bits were painted on sometime sem2 year1 of uni (and after the end date listed above) but it was so little that I'm fine w the fake finish date.
I was planning on colouring the entire piece, but the mask in it of itself was annoying enough, and I thought it looked good w just that part coloured. I've asked around if people think it looks finished with how it is now, and most people say no 😭. I've gotten different suggestions for what to do to make it look more complete, but I don't really fw any of them (but I also think it looks does as is, so I'm not inclined to modify it at all in the first place).
The suggestions:
Colour the candelabra in blues to compliment the mask
Add shading to the rest of the obj
Microns, watercolour, acrylic paint and india ink on watercolour paper

Another quick lil guy. Last of my batch of trying to compensate for lost days in the 'make a drawing every day' goal.
Also the last of stickers in general for a while 💔
January 15, 2021 - ~January 20, 2021
This is not social commentary, it's just a funny statement.
Engraved aluminum pen case lid I did in gr10 manufacturing. Didn't actually CNC machine it myself because class was online cos covid, but I toolpathed everything. The beginning of my CNC escapades.
I knew I wanted to do a dragon because that's a classic for me, but then I needed more stuff to fill the space. Me and my family were just messing around one night trying to think of something to put on it. We eventually settled on 'Vaccines are now being administered by babies' because we thought that was funny.
My shop teacher engraved all of these projects on the google meet, but for mine he did it after class because he didn't want to possibly offend someone lmao 😭.

October 20, 2024 India Ink on Paper
The last inktober drawing i ended up doing for this season 🥶
For the entirety of this one the pen was officially out of ink. I made do with just using it as a brush pen w my india ink.
Although, that's definitely the main reason the challenge died for me. Not having the convenience of just whipping out the pen whenever I felt like it got rid of pretty much all instances where I would typically work on these drawings, especially when art was slowly becoming something I wasn't able to prioritize nearly as much cos school 🥲
Not to mention it was really annoying,, it's just not the same as the ink flowing from within the pen 😩

Painting of a cockatiel ❤️
I remember struggling to use the neon acrylic paints because they're really translucent and only show up well on a white base.

Another painting I did at the cafe. Used the metallic white as my base, and then sketched a fish skeleton on it using my silver metallic pen. Then smoothed out and fixed the forms with a damp brush.
I like the effect using the metallic-on-metallic paints give. Depending on the angle you're looking at it you can either clearly see the fish, or see nothing at all. I think it's neat
