Poster design I made for Anifest at my uni.
Me and a few of the other vendors joined up to organize a stamp rally, and this was one of the things we prepped for the artist alley beforehand. One of us had suggested different colour palettes, and this orange/teal one won the vote.
This was just a really cute little thing to draw. Was a good break from the other more complicated illustrations I had been working on.
The Miku design and stickers were created by by @/ciel on instagram :3
This blog functions as my chronological art archive/diary.
To keep it tidy I do not have asks open nor do I reblog others' posts.
Bug me however you like on @flowerspeakz. There you can also find a lot of my yappery and wips/random doodles of mine that aren't deserving of a formal post here.

Discovered the smudge tool when rendering/shading this guy. It was revolutionary
Quick thing I whipped up for a mascot design contest of one of my uni's clubs. I remember I'd seen the post for this a while back, but I wasn't sure whether or not I'd participate. I saw their last-call post on the last day they were accepting submissions and I decided I wanted to do it. Very smart of me.
Initially I wanted to make it a red panda, but I couldn't think of a good pose. I ended up going with a cat cause it's simple, cute, and the pose came easily.
Did this in one go and went straight to sleep after πͺπ΄

Animation I made to showcase the movement and associated friction points (red) of the mechanism we made for DP4 π.
Just a quick lil animation, was funny busting this out.
OK. So krita 5.5.2 having ffmpeg just in the normal installation is so much more convenient than having to download it separately??? BRO I needed to get this done the day I started it and downloading ffmpeg was gonna take a whole day π. -7kB/s goofy ahhh
I ended up exporting the individual frames and uploaded them to openshot video editor to get the video. AND THEN openshot would not export as a .gif correctly so I exported as a .mp4 and then converted it to gif format w convertio π―ββοΈπ―ββοΈπ―ββοΈ
If I had just known I coulda just updated krita ππ©βοΈ. Would've saved me sm hassle π

1p lego assignment for bonus marks. They supplied drawings for the lego figure itself, but we would get more bonus marks for adding a special feature. I went all out and made a little lego hellboy.
When I first started this, I hadn't realised that we were supposed to follow drawings they gave us so I just made the figure on my own. Did that by looking at pictures of lego figures and just recreating it. And then I found out all my work was for naught π’
Might 3D print this some day, but if I did I would remake the legs and leg connector. They didn't do it the way normal lego figures are (which is slightly more complicated,, not much though) and so the legs look dumber than they should.

This was meant to be manufacturing meets biology/science. And kinda the whole planes were inspired by birds thing.
Really, was just losing my mind and needed to make some fuken thing for the assignment.

LMAOO
Uhh lil health science project I put wayy too much effort into over the winter break, and yet didn't finish/do right (the end notes in the vid say it all, really)
Assignment was to make a form of media exploring a possible future that biotechnology could take us to,, the assignment itself was pseudo inspired by Gattaca (movie). I decided to do the whole gene editing and use of chimeras to grow human organs route.

This was supposed to be a themed trilogy, but I, like always, did not really have a theme in mind. I was kind of going for 'where art and technology/science meet' but it was really shoehorned. This was going to be a beautiful piece symbolizing medicine w elements of the staff of asclepius w the snake and her arm.
Making this was really, really annoying. I hadn't done a multi canvas piece since the cardinal (which was five years prior) so the idea was I go all out for this one (bad idea, never got finished). I did really like the style and the overall composition of the piece, but there's a 0.00001% chance I ever go back to this because of how big of a task it'd be.
First of all, making the wooden frame just to hold the canvases in the right position was terrible. I made the spacing smaller because I didn't want to lose details, but because it was so thin it broke 24/7. Don't even talk to me about the nailing/gluing process.... horrible.
Painting it was also a feat, because it took up so much space and I had to dance around the pieces constantly.
I got it to a place where it was finished enough, and then I was done with it.
(also I changed the position of the legs in the painting to make it more anatomically correct, but it ruined the silhouette)
The canvases still exist in my house, but the frame is long gone.

Big thanks to Morgan Freeman for narrating this video. Tried to get David Attenborough, but he wasn't available.
Video assignment for english. Was supposed to utilize one filmmaking technique/genre (idrk) and I chose the archival footage one and made a video of Baby James.
This was really fun to make.

Gr12 art project inspired by ___'s photomontage art style. This is a project I was dreading when I took gr12 art. I'm not a photographer and I was not anticipating making anything that I'd like. Surprisingly, I really, really liked this project.
Me and my partner took my father's gopro and canon camera and went to the local creek to bother some salmon.
I did make a digital version of it to figure out the scaling I'd need to print everything at. I then maximized profit by nesting the pictures on 8.5x11" files so that I'd spend the least amount of money printing them π₯(because we had to do that ourselves, the school doesn't have coloured printers π)
Lowkey there was only one other person whose project I liked for this assignment. A lot of them were really messy and didn't have any grounding elements. For this one I put a lot of focus on the logs in the middle. And I did splice together a lot of pictures to form the whole log, but I made sure they were all lined up so the full form was still distinguishable.

Grade 12 art project where I really just wanted to make a bacteriophage CAD model because I'm obsessed.
I fully printed and assembled this doll, but it broke. I need to figure out a way to 3D print the part body without the supports being mega annoying (or alter the CAD model/split it into multiple pieces). I'll do that someday and then 3D print this guy again.

Inspired by John dies at the end. What David Wong, resident non-chinese protagonist, saw in the window of a Mcwongalds on a normal Tuesday morning.
Gr12 assignment where we could either choose this or a still life/realistic pencil drawing of a 'terrible beauty.' We got to choose between these two because there's just not enough time to do all of these assignments in a semester, and we've done still lives all 3 previous years. All the people who chose still life are cucks.
I don't have the linoblock anymore ππ. I forgot to steal it when I took all my artworks home and when I sent my friend to get it for me the next year they didn't have it ??!??!?!?! It must be in that art room somewhere rahh
Lining up the prints was soo hard. Especially for the last layer because there was so little material left on the block that it would really easily shift around. I was smart by picking this subject, though. Any extra red smears just add to the blood, and whenever they don't line up it just makes it more distorted and fucked up ππ

I spent so long working on this assignment at the beginning of the semester that my parents got concerned about me taking art when i should be studying to master my other classes ππ
Gr12 assignment where our teacher told us to all bring a random object to school (for unknown reasons), and then revealed that we're doing a project where we have to draw that object multiple times using 3 art movement styles.
Bottom-up the movements are:
German Expressionism
Cubism
Impressionism
Had a lot of fun making this. The german expressionism was a hoot, but I just love using inks. I hated doing the impressionism one, though. I just didn't like how it was turning out/turned out, and me and my teacher agree that it's not really an impressionistic style. They be using colours in crazy ways that I hadn't unlocked at the time.

Final project for gr11 art that I did finish, but never submitted because they did a goofy thing where our summatives couldn't lower our marks.
Uhhh, ig I don't have any pictures of the finished project? It was a whole illusion thing of a hallway. I wasn't too happy with it when I first did it, but it's a solid idea. Prolly gonna revisit the illusion in the future, not sure if I'd take a stab at making this exact scene again.

The fated gr11 still life.
This took so long. So, so long. Started it at school, but did the majority during the winter break. Was several days of me hunched over this in the basement slaving over it for the whole day. Put movies/shows on in the background, and all of 'the witcher' passed before I finished this π

Gr11 assignment where we had to paint something that has a meaning.
I'm gonna yap about my thoughts on this.
I hate it when teachers/people start developing this notion that every piece of art needs to have a meaning. I get that that's why a lot of people do art (whether to convey a message or just vent an emotion), but once it's forced it's no longer an outlet. I like doing art because I do. And if it has a meaning to me, that's for me to know. Everyone has their own experiences that vary their interpretations, which leads to people seeing stories that you may not have intended (which is fine). But I don't see the reason for chastising the artist if you don't see a meaning to their work.
Idk, I just feel that once you force an artist to make art that has a meaning, you're taking away the freeing aspect of art. With art, you're the one in control of what you create and the messages you send, but once it's forced it defeats the purpose.
Anyways,,, I needed to paint something that has a meaning, which i really didn't feel like doing. The way around this was to paint something that has so many fucked up aspects that most people would think this says so much about society. Dead animals? check. fucken,, fire? check. impossble perspective?? you love it babyeee
I had fun painting this piece, but it did take me a bit to get over my angery about me having to have a meaning. I eventually leaned into thinking how funny it was that peoplewld think this says so much about society when I was just dickin around.
(also this assignment had a written portion where you have to explain the meaning, but I never did that π€ π)

Gr11 assignment where we had to make a teapot that didn't look like a teapot.
This was super fun. Sculpting is something I don't do often, but it's so cool.
Initially this was supposed to be fully covered in bugs, but because of time constraints I had to tone it down. I did consider making more bugs out of polymer clay to stick them on after, but I was too lazy to do that. M happy w how it is as is, too.
I sculpted the base to look like rocks/dirt and lowkey my teacher had no idea wtf I was doing but she just left me to it because she trusted the process β€οΈ
I was so scared that one of the pots would explode when casting and ruin my stuff, but we good.
Painting it was a bit of a pain because of all the nooks and crannies, but I got through it
Too lazy to take better pictures of this.

My entry for the yearbook cover contest in gr11. Didn't win π’
I remember really really struggling to come up w an idea for this. I'm okay with the front cover (I think that bull needs some work), but I think I should've used the back cover's watercolour theme throughout. I prefer that look a lot more.

Gr11 assignment that was a bit of a disaster. Cutting the shapes out of the vinyl was ez, but I remember the printing itself was a disaster.
Kinda doesn't work but that's aight. Meant to be the printmaking where you scrape ink onto a shirt or smth and there's the fabric thingy in between.
I tried printing it on my sketchbook before but it didnt work cos the ink was made for fabric. Did it now w acrylic, but it bled a lot. Could do the strat where u paint in base colour first nd then the wanted colour, probably.

This is not social commentary, it's just a funny statement.
Engraved aluminum pen case lid I did in gr10 manufacturing. Didn't actually CNC machine it myself because class was online cos covid, but I toolpathed everything. The beginning of my CNC escapades.
I knew I wanted to do a dragon because that's a classic for me, but then I needed more stuff to fill the space. Me and my family were just messing around one night trying to think of something to put on it. We eventually settled on 'Vaccines are now being administered by babies' because we thought that was funny.
My shop teacher engraved all of these projects on the google meet, but for mine he did it after class because he didn't want to possibly offend someone lmao π.

Gr11 watercolour painting assignment. Painted a great blue heron I pictured in the pond near my house.
Painted the background first, but had to lift a lot of the colour because it was too vibrant before.
I used masking tape to mask out the spots of the foreground plants, but it bled a lot and I didn't save as much of the white space as I should've.
Second image is watercolour practice I did beforehand. Used some of the tips from a watercolour art book I'd been gifted

Still life assignment done when school was half online-half offline. I remember my friend (who just took art to get the required arts credit) put vaseline over his camera so the teacher wouldn't be able to see that he hadn't done any work on his π
Had fun making this, didn't take too too long (relative to my other still lifes)
