War of the Rohirrim spoilers:
I understand that Hama had to die. I do. I understand that he absolutely had to die in the specific the way that he did, because Hama as a character represents the valor and honor of the people of Rohan (exemplified in his mastery of song, which is how those values are upheld in the community and passed along to the next generation), and Wulf, who rejects these values, had to kill him in a dishonorable way to represent his attempt to destroy the values of the Eorlingas and prove that valor and honor are worthless. And I understand that Hama’s instrument being passed to others represents that that valor and honor did not die with him, and could not be destroyed by Wulf. I understand this! I do! But also, have you considered: it made me sad
Ok you just know that Eowyn made her brothers and all the other children of Edoras play Hera and the Dunlanders all the time when she was little:
Eowyn (wearing a red wig, holding a sword): Now Wulf, you execute Hama and I'll be stricken with grief!
Theodred: This sucks why do I have to be the harp brother
Eowyn: SILENCE. DON'T BREAK CHARACTER
Grima Wormtongue (wearing a long black wig over his normal spiky blonde hair, playing Wulf): Oh boy I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me.
Could somebody give me Dorothy L Sayers 101? I had never heard of her until joining tumblr, where you fine people seem to talk about her a lot 🙂 She sounds like some kind of hybrid of Agatha Christie and CS Lewis! Where should one start with her? And can one pick up any old Lord Peter Wimsey book from the library with no context, or do they need to be read in sequence?

Héra and Eowyn are not the same! They have similarities, but also important differences!
Both wanted to protect their families and people.
Both wanted to break free of the roles others set for them.
Eowyn was battling depression (or rather the Black Breath). She'd been oppressed by societal expectations and duties, as well as harassed by Wormtongue for so long. She derives hope from Aragorn and is motivated to take up the sword to protect her family and kingdom.
Héra lived in relative freedom. Yes, people criricized her for being "wild," but for the most part, she was free to roam as she pleased. Her father holds her back when war comes, but not in the way Eowyn was held back for so long. Despite being put through the wringer, Héra never loses hope. She grieves, but never sinks into the depths of depression.
Eowyn falls in love with Faramir. She was never trying to escape marriage, just trying to defend her family and not be bound to traditional gender roles. Once the threat is gone, she's content marrying Faramir and becoming a healer.
Héra's different. She doesn't want to marry. She remains a shield maiden.
And both are wonderful characters.
one day I’ll finally write that ridiculously elaborate fanfiction that I’ve been carefully constructing in my daydreams for months and then you’ll be sorry. you’ll all be sorry.
just a heeeaaads up that some of these art commission scammers are upgrading their technique
they will now actually take notes of things that really happened in your fic, they make it sound personalised and genuine, but there's a way they talk that feels weirdly artificial, there's always a vague mention of some 'ideas' they have, if it raises your hackles trust those instincts and tread carefully, because ultimately-
suddenly changing up their writing style is a big red flag, wanting to take you off platform to some other site showcasing their 'art' is an even bigger red flag, REAL ARTISTS DO NOT DO THIS
no matter how genuine they sound, trust NOBODY advertising their art in your comment section, trust NOBODY who wants to take you off platform, NEVER go to that secondary location
