A moment of peace

an intro to a lil mini comic thingie i made that i thought looked too cute to not be posted on its own w/o words
Zam's world is only his castle, save for the people that visit. He has no control over who they are, no control over when they come and go. He cannot leave.
People come and tell story's to him, they mistake him for a traveler too and expect some in exchange. He wishes he had his own stories. instead he retells what hes heard from others, inserting himself into their lives and changing details to fit him.
One visitor comes a second time, this time with a companion. Zam had been alone for most the month and was more than eager to talk with them. Distracted by the new person, (new details, new colors, new movements), he retells the story from the first visitor.
They immediately catch on, waiting for him to finish before asking him about it, about his situation. He's nervous to answer, most think hes a traveler who happens to have decided to live here, but with enough questions he tells them.
Anything past the edges of the castle dissolves into the sharp blue, when he was younger (younger is the wrong word, time isn't something you can count on for its consistency here. When he knew less. When he could count how many stories hes heard on one hand.) he tried to touch it only for it to solidify and burn.
They leave soon after, he hides away in the tower from any visitors until he can make out their voices. He's standing by his door when they finally introduce themselves, Mapicc and Ro. With all his anxious hesitance he opens the door and goes back down.
They brought him new foods to try, something that made his eyes well up, and Ro had to carefully explain his tears. Zam tells them about one visitor who came after they found out, someone who could slide in-between the gaps in his door and walls and comforted him when he refused to leave his bed. More stories are told, there's always more, and eventually they have to leave again, disappearing into the not-quite-as-pointed-blue.
It's always clear to him after someone leaves, the warmth he feels goes with them. He can't explain it but the stories make him more real. That without them he simply wouldn't exist. Once they leave he feels the chills set in again, worse now that he was used to the warmth.
He could only wait for their return.

what if zam and mapic got those bracelets where if you press/hold the top of one than the other bracelet glows for that duration
they use it when the other ignores them or when they’re irritated with the other so they start spamming the bracelet and suddenly the others wrist starts flickering for a good 5 minutes regardless of what they’re doing
middle of a battle- random flickering, trying to brew pots- random flickering, sleeping- random flickering, eating- random flickering, in an important meeting- random flickering, trying to hide from an enemy invis- random flickering
both bracelets are synced to have the same level of brightness so occasionally when trying to find the other while flying, one would crank the light level to max and scan for a beacon level of immense light before the other gets a chance to turn it down
they toned down the mass flickering once they realized how often they would need to change the battery
at a point it switched completely, mapic got bored and had the idea to start trying to communicate with morse code, zam was not in favour of it as they could just whisper if needed but mapic heavily disagreed
once when zam was trying to ignore the flickering while building, 4c gasped from a house over and zam became alarmingly aware and concerned of what the lights had just spelled out, he asked but 4c refused to elaborate, not daring to repeat it so after great irritation and debating whether to take the bracelet off or learn morse code, zam gave in

Mapicc logging on right after flame killed Leo, immediately messaging zam, asking him to help him kill flame, something they've done together countless times before because even if they were on different teams they could still kill flame together right??? Whether it be the empire or atlas or mawn or zaun. Then zam refusing to help him, basically confirming that he had been completely abandoned. If there was one thing that zam could ever rely on mapicc for it was getting him on to fight against mane and flame. Killing them was something they decided to do together. And now zam wasn't even willing to help him with that???
And mapicc seeing that book zam wrote to derap. Zam has never shown his appreciation for mapicc in that way before to the point at which mapicc felt like he was simply someone to be used by zam. The way zam protects derapchu so desperately. It's clear that he cares so much more about derap than mapicc. Whether this is actually true or not does not matter because that's how it looks right now to everyone involved.
And derapchu saying he doesn't hate mapicc, but mapicc hates him. Yet all he does is complain about mapicc and is so clearly against him despite zam wanting to remain neutral with mawn and keep ties with mapicc. Derap wants to recruit more people to zaun. He wants to spite mapicc. And he does not want to work with mapicc at all. If derap was not in call when mapicc logged on again to ask zam to help him with killing flame, would zam have accepted? To get his teammate back? Even derap in chat while mapicc was trying to talk to zam about the drowning of spawn. Could zam have expressed more clearly how much he cared about mapicc if derap wasn't there? And derap for his part very clearly showing how little he understood how much mapicc cared about zam in that moment, laughing and pointing out things mapicc could be lying about in the chat.
Zam has derap now, and at least mapicc had flame for a couple of days, but now mapicc has absolutely no one. Can Spoke get on? Can minuite grind back up to 20 already? Can ro come back? Mapicc, who had already been feeling lost before he started mawn, seems to have come out of it even more lost and confused and alone.
Mapicc was always there when zam asked him to come online to kill mane and flame. Even though they weren't teammates, and even though the empire had done things zam didn't like, and even though zams oath was lowkey, holding them both back. But now, when mapicc asks zam for the same thing back, it's just not reciprocated. Even mapicc not hitting zam once during the fight and begging him to join mawn compared to zams absolute denial of him, and his decision to be completely cut ties with mawn and therefore mapicc to appease his morals and desire to remain on good terms with mapicc. They care about each other so much, but zam has someone to turn to when things get rough and mapicc has no one else. There is an imbalance in this relationship. Probably not by how much they each care but more so their situations right now.
The thing is tho when zam was truly alone in fighting against mane and flame mapicc could be a constant in his life and now that mapicc is alone, zam can't do that for him. Yet they both still try so hard to stay together despite it. Zam constantly thinking about mapicc, worrying what actions will affect mapicc and mawn without impeding on his morals, trying to walk the fine line of being mapiccs enemy or being mapiccs teammate. Always compromising his beliefs for mapicc, turning a blind eye, building the orbital, and even now not actively going against mawn. And mapicc communicating with zam, talking to him, telling him as much as he can bring himself to about how he feels about their relationship, constantly trying to find a way to work together again with zam.
Right now so much is keeping them apart but they still long for each other and they still feel hurt by each other and they still care about each other but everything is slowly falling apart and I just hope when it comes down to it something horrible happens to both of them and they end up just as devoted to each other as enemies as they were when allied. Or they can communicate and work together and be happy please that'd also be great. Can happy devotions be my Christmas miracle, please, and thank you, santa pangi !!!!
i do think theres something to be said abt the fact that mapicc has been upset bc he feels abandoned by the empire and by zam, bc he feels like zam used him until he got a new team, and bc minute being on two hearts means the entire empire is entirely reliant on him to be the strong one.
and how mapicc is now working very closely w flame. who would never need him to fight, doesnt intend on ever being his teammate or relying on him for anything, and who seems to be willing to help him w HIS ideas without expecting anything in return so long as their interests align. like idk i dont even think he conciously sought this type of relationship out but i do think the fact that theyre both seeking independence and currently lashing out is like, interesting. theres something there, i just dont know how to word it

- Pangi's arena (the blue circle);
- Team Mice day 1 base;
- Rek's first base;
- Mane's lag machine (he also almost found the spot kab and woogie used near the lag machine to write signs and he almost had a heart attack);
- Too many farms (I honestly lost count at this point);
- Three different spots that could have bases hidden (that he didn't check out because he only wants to find an outpost today);
- Every build ever.
