As someone who grew up in a city there's something about all the bustle that I find so comforting.
You'll never see every inch of this place, there's simply too much, too many people. So you find the few stores you frequent, the few places you like going, the few people whose faces you recognize. You find your locations and people of interest, and those map onto your brain like the few interactable things in a videogame.
I have no earthly idea what goes on in the buildings between my favorite book store and my favorite cafe, but those places are mine, they're my little parts of this impossibly big place. A hundred faces will pass by on the street, but when I recognize that one guy who's always hanging out in that one place, then I feel like I'm home.

most western socialists have a very low level of socialist consciousness. they've learned that capitalism is exploitative and unstable, and how a socialist society could function better, but the idea of socialism they have in their mind is one of advanced socialism: there's no state, no poverty, and no money. it doesn't include the necessary adjustments to being under constant siege from the capitalist world. it doesn't include the problems that any society must face as it develops its economy in the middle of the global capitalist system. it doesn't take into account the history of the countries involved but demands instead that they meet the socialist's pure vision. they take their ideal and compare it to real world socialist projects, which are still early in their development, and reject the project for not matching up to their vision. the construction of socialism is messy and happens in real countries, with complex histories and complex current challenges. demanding purity means rejecting the only real world struggles for socialism that actually exist
So this is great and all, but gatekeeping allyship with transfems? More people should read theory, great thesis. Posting at a broad swath of "fake" allies about how it's fucked up to say good things without being fully informed? Not really helping. We can in fact get TME allies to understand without calling them bullshit. Fuck anyone telling transfems to talk less about this or be quieter, I know how that goes, and I refuse to let that be the critique here. But there are so many better ways to advocate for our rights and needs. If you feel like most of the people posting nice things directed at transfems are a threat or somehow impeding progress, consider how helpful this rhetoric is. Alienation is how we get our solidarity fucked, not everyone that should or wants to will read theory, consider whether you knew that when you talk about this, if a large chunk of your target audience *will not* do it, are you not just giving yourself an excuse to paint them as the villain? I'm begging: redirect your energy, you can write posts that demand genuine understanding, that make the case for how transmisogyny is killing us, and what people on this site can do to help, but it's so much more effective to provide the education yourself. Yes that's work, but so is this. Stop biting people coming to try and understand, this theory is uncomfortable enough on its own. We can and should be pushing people to understand us, but do it effectively, for fucks sake. Be loud, demand understanding, accept empathy when it arrives.

did you know theres a automatic clutch in helicopters that connects the blades driveshaft to the engines driveshaft made of tiny little bones that sit diagonally at rest but when the engine starts spinning it the centrifugal force makes them point toward the blades driveshaft and engage with it allowing the engines rotation to transfer to the blades and when the engine fails or starts spinning slower than the blades are spinning the clutch automatically disengages purely thru the physics of the bones inside of it not having the force needed to bite down meaning the blades will continue spinning without getting slowed down by a malfunctioning engine and theres a way u can land a helicopter whos engines failed by nosediving on purpose so that all the air rushing past makes the blades naturally start spinning and then pulling up at the last moment to get the now sped up blades pointed at the ground again to make a cushion of air to land safely with and did u know each blade on the helicopter rotates freely on its own on a ball joint like they dont all just move around as a single unit theyre literally all doing their own unique pivots and shit to get the helicopter to move in any possible direction
