Moriarty the Patriot beach headcannons

(reminder; this isn't a writing blog)

Albert

Albert absolutely hates sand and seaweed with a passion. It just gets everywhere, it's sticky and irritating. He will be frustrated about it, but won't complain.

He lies in a beach chair, underneath the cool shade of a tree, perhaps drinking some beverage, reading a book or simply enjoying the view.

He's not much of a swimmer, I believe he wouldn't swim at all or just for a little while with his brothers.

Won't let his hair get damaged if possible (I mean it sure takes a lot of effort to style them so perfectly)

Wine.

William (aka my hubby)

He doesn't mind sand or seaweed.

He's not a big swimmer either, but would enjoy a swim with his friends and family.

I can see him reading a book beside Albert, most likely a mathematics related book or a newspaper, drinking his favourite chamomile tea (yes he 100% drinks tea on the beach)

Puts a ton of sunscreen or else he will turn into a tomato.

William is a teacher by nature. He will educate children playing around on sea- related subjects, such as buoyancy or sea life (and probably maths, yeah).

Gives the best advice on how to built the perfect sandcastle and children love him for that.

Louis

Saying that he has packed lunch for everyone would be an understatement.

Somehow he managed to bring with him a kettle and full tea set for his brothers, biscuits, pastries (he made himself obviously) and a literal meal, silverware and plates included. (Jack is so proud)

Most of the time he stays by William's side, quietly enjoying the small vacation whilst attending to him. He states that he's not very fond of swimming and would prefer to stay dry, but in actuality he really wants to.

When William proposes that they go together for a swim the poor boy is so so happy.

Struggles a little with his glasses and gets sunburnt very easily despite bathing in sunscreen.

Moran & Bonde

These two absolute airheads will race one another in EVERYTHING.

Who jumps in the water first, who swims faster, who can hold his breath longer, who can run to the other side of the beach and back faster, and the list goes on.

James comes first at almost everything, which let's just say Moran didn't take very well.

They both flirt with random girls.

Moran will tease Albert for not getting into the water.

They literally annoy the whole beach.

Fred

I think Fred would like to stroll through the beach and collect seashells.

Afterwards he shows his collection to the Moriarty brothers, who give him a small but much deserved applause.

He's an excellent swimmer, and would dive in order to observe the fish and other sea life.

Will throw small pieces of bread in the water for the fish.

He would also do this thing where you just float on the water in a star- shaped position. He enjoys it a lot.

Man, if disciple Bunhe had tried to come out to Shen Qingqiu it would've gone so poorly.

SQQ: Binghe really shouldn't spend so much time with this old man! Shouldn't he be off charming some women disciples?

LBH: Shizun, this disciple does not like women.

Qi-ge has always been the center of Shen Jiu's world

He was what kept Shen Jiu going

His light in the dark

And seeing his Qi-ge whole and hale, after having not come back as promised, shattered his world

And Qi-ge's silence prevented it from ever healing. So the shattered pieces of his life spin and cut and hurt

And his instinct is that this perceived rejection is his fault. Because he is "rotten from the start".

He must be

Because he wished Qi-ge had died rather than abandon him

That's why there is always tension and quarrels

Because when Yue Qingyuan gets too close Shen Jiu gets angry

"How dare Qi-ge act like he cares! It's too little too late! Stop lying to my face!"

But if Yue Qingyuan pulls away Shen Jiu gets angry

"How dare Qi-ge abandon me again! Hasn't he run away enough!? Is he ashamed of me!?"

As long as Yue Qingyuan is silent the pain will continue

But Yue Qingyuan has reasons for not telling

For one, what he went through was as traumatic as what Shen Jiu went through. There are still blood stains from where he beat his head in the caves, desperate to get back to the center of his world.

He has to be ready to speak his truth

Secondly, he thinks it's a poor excuse. In his mind he should have tried harder, left earlier, done something different somehow and kept his promise. All his reasons, now matter how valid we see it, are weak and pathetic in his eyes

To tell Shen Jiu the truth would feel to Yue Qingyuan like he was making excuses for failing. He feels it would be insulting to Shen Jiu to even imply he has legitimate reasons for failing because he doesn't feel it was legitimate

So even though simply talking would heal the rift it's not as easy a fix as it seems

But unless they do Shen Jiu will continue to be shattered glass orbiting Yue Qingyuan

on the yqy gets truth serumed thing: we find out because during a peak lord meeting, lqg says smth smth sqq sux and i hate him, and usually what gets said is "shidi is permitted to his own opinion, of course, but blablabla-" what comes out the sect leaders mouth THIS time, however, is "oh fuck your mother you foul tempered brat; jiu can do as he pleases and so help me if he threatens to leave because of this i will use your skin as a rug ^^" no one was ready.

Exactly this is the vibe I picture if Yue Qingyuan got dosed with a truth serum.

Someone says something about how Shen Qingqiu's whoring is dragging the sect's reputation down, but what could they really expect from a man like that. Complete with a meaningful glance. And of course it's expected that Yue Qingyuan will take his side, even if he tries to word it diplomatically, they all know how he is...

And then Yue Qingyuan says "I'm going to break your jaw and rip out your lying tongue for slandering Shen Jiu. We don't even have anything in the rules forbidding sex you stupid piece of-" at which point Liu Qingge and Mu Qingfang both tackle him because something is clearly wrong with him and they can't rule out possession right away.

Everybody is mortified when Mu Qingfang confirms it's a truth pollen, but Shen Qingqiu just sits there completely floored because Yue Qingyuan would commit violence for him? Despite everything?? Then why hasn't he done any of that?! At least put in a little more effort when standing up for him to discourage the rich idiots from picking on him! Useless shixiong.

They wrap Yue Qingyuan in immortal binding cables because they don't trust his word that he always thinks like this and the risk of him acting on it is not one the can take, and he kneels in front of Shen Qingqiu and tells him that he would do anything to have his trust, his love back. If Shen Jiu asks him to rip out his useless, treacherous tongue, to crack open his chest and hand him his still beating heart as proof of his love, he would do so even if it's the last thing he would do in this life.

And Shen Qingqiu swoons because okay, there's something fishy here, but that's the kind of devotion he wants (devotion to match his own) and he is still fucking mad, don't get him wrong, but keep talking he's listening.

Qijiu's reunion at the Immortal Alliance Conference could have so easily gone differently. If Yue Qi had had the time to express joy over Shen Jiu's survival, before Shen Jiu got angry at apparently being abandoned for a better life, and before Yue Qi then assumed that the failed rescue was the unforgivable harm rather than the apparent failure to return at all, they might have gotten somewhere.

But, you know, another way things could have gone differently is Yue Qi and Shen Jiu not coming face-to-face and recognizing each other at the same time. It could have been one or the other.

Wu Yanzi presumably can't slip into the conference because he's (not invited and also) a wanted criminal, but he might have been able to send his apprentice in to walk around, with Shen Jiu pretending to be just another random disciple among the crowd. If Shen Jiu had disguised himself to enter the conference early, he could have easily seen Head Disciple of Cang Qiong Mountain Sect Yue Qingyuan in a position of dutiful prominence during some opening speech, without Yue Qi noticing him in return.

The conclusions that Shen Jiu would jump to without any indication Yue Qi even remembers him? Bad. Obviously, the only thing to do there is take furious revenge and completely ruin this Yue Qingyuan's beautiful new life somehow.

Likewise, if Shen Jiu had been wandering around the conference to scope out the valuables, Yue Qi could have seen him through the crowd without being noticed in return. Maybe CQMS's head disciple is better situated making the mingling rounds rather than standing up somewhere with the talking heads. Before Shen Jiu knows what's happening here, he's being accosted in a quiet corner by some young master on the verge of crying on his stolen uniform. He just barely manages not to stab this guy about it.

"Xiao-Jiu, you're alive! I came back for you but I was too late and found that awful place burned to the ground! Nobody knew where you'd gone. You're a disciple of Huan Hua Palace now? I'm so happy for you!" this person says, beaming with ugly joy- wait, is this...? "I'm so sorry that Qi-Ge was so useless."

Shen Jiu barely manages to stumble out of this conversation without passing out. Yue Qi gets dragged away by some Cang Qiong master for some social responsibility, clinging to Shen Jiu's hands and swearing to find him later, and he thinks Shen Jiu is a Huan Hua Palace disciple. What was Shen Jiu supposed to say to that assumption? That he's actually lying scum?!

Shen Jiu now has to survive this conference without Yue Qi finding out the truth and without Wu Yanzi finding out about Yue Qi. Upping the tension of this fic idea: maybe Wu Yanzi does find out that Shen Jiu knows the head disciple of CQMS. (Maybe Wu Yanzi was lurking around the edges in disguise as well. Maybe Wu Yanzi witnesses some later conversation between Qijiu.) Wu Yanzi now wants to use Shen Jiu as an "in" to rob or otherwise harm CQMS.

If Shen Jiu is the one who saw Yue Qi first and jumped to angry conclusions and revenge plans about it, maybe the spiteful Shen Jiu likes the idea of reuniting with Yue Qi just to fuck him over like that. He's going to regret that pretty quickly, though.
