can they cook: fellowship edition

samwise: obviously. makes the best food ever. doesn’t even follow recipes anymore. can bake too. makes really great pies, both sweet and savory. makes the dough himself.

frodo: no. sam and bilbo mostly cooked for him. sam taught him how to cook potatoes. he messed even that up. he helps by doing dishes and cutting and washing food. he can bake well, though.

pippin: once put an egg on the oven for breakfast. it was in its shell, and exploded. don’t let him near the knives or stove top.

merry: makes pretty good edibles. has mastered brownies and cookies, once put weed in a tart. can make dry sandwiches, that’s about it.

legolas: lmao no. accidentally on a raw diet. he eats everything as is. if you’re luckily he will give it a quick rinse. doesn’t eat meat, probably for the best. one time sam saw him take a bite out of a raw onion like it was an apple and lost his mind.

gimli: yes! makes good roasts and hearty stews. has the best jerky, and puts way to much pepper in everything. uses ground oven for everything he can- he digs a hole, fills it with food, and lights a fire over it. says the dirt add flavor.

aragorn: it’s edible. mostly unseasoned. will use herbs for medicine instead. knows how to perfectly cook any meat, but can’t make a salad for the life of him.

boromir: grill dad. he only cooks over flame. carrots? grill. potatoes? grill. nuts? grill. he’s a big fan of just, throwing the food into the fire pit. to be fair, it tastes pretty good. only uses salt, pepper and paprika.

gandalf: no one has ever seen gandalf cooking. truth is, he can, in theory. hasn’t actually cooked in forever. the last thing he made was a birthday cake. it was no one’s birthday. he ate it by himself and didn’t share with anyone.

Ok so I just recently watched all three life series from scars pov again and I've come to a horrible realization...Scar doesn't hit grian once after third life and if he does he never shows it. When grian steals his first life in last life sure scar goes after him swinging but he never actually hits him just barely missing him every time and when he was the boogeyman and had the perfect chance to kill grian he simply doesn't. In double life it was grian who hurt scar to show him that they were soulbound. It never crossed scars mind to test grian like at all. Like he just accepted that grian was helping him out by giving him food whenever he was low on hunger and worrying about his life when he was low on hearts out of the kindness of his own heart. He was one hundred percent ready to accept that grian was going to be on his side without even being soulmates in a death game. He didn't care about who his soulmate was at all in double life but accepted grian as an ally right off the bat. And when he finally realized who his soulmate was via dripstone ,as pay back for grian not telling him sooner, he doesn't hit grian ,no, he punches a jellie panda and hurts himself. Everytime he wants to hurt grian he never physically hits him it's always him hurting himself. Grian on the other hand...in last life grian isn't afraid to hit scar. After stealing his life and running into Lizzie he takes out his sword and swipes at scar the moment he jumps down to their level but misses and he shots arrows at him willingly when he's on yellow and when on red despite not wanting to. On double life grian is the one who hurts scar physically. When showing him their soulmates he uses dripstone and when their hiding from the reds he uses dripstone to prank scar which almost kills them both. It's wild. Plus in last life scar is the only one with a cactus in a world without a desert and it's mumbo and grian who trades for it and in double life they make another monopoly on sand and somehow manage to find the only cactuses on the server to hide out by when on the run. Yeah they never left the desert but Scar never left monopoly mountain and Grian never left the cactus ring.

our favorite edgelord megatron doesn't understand them whatsoever. he finds the whole idea both confusing and a waste of time. i feel like IF he ever found one funny, it would be one of those facebook soccer mom memes...

starscream couldn't care less. he would rather spend his time doing something more productive, but he might end up finding one funny if it's one that he properly understands.

i personally believe that soundwave has seen quite a few of Earth's memes during his intel gathering. he has a folder of ones he finds funny saved, and will occasionally reference them.

knockout is sometimes confused by them, but not entirely against the idea. it's a bit of a guilty pleasure actually; he wouldn't ever tell anyone he likes them, but still enjoys any he comes across.

poor breakdown can't even pronounce the word meme. he's just stuck confused while knockout tries to explain the concept to him (and fails).

i don't think dreadwing would ever laugh at or understand a meme. he would probably just give you an odd stare and then walk away tbh.

shockwave,, i'm not actually sure what he would do. probably be similar to dreadwing- confusion and/or aloofness. i'm having a lot of confusion about his character rn so bare with me. </3

My shoulder is still really loose after its most recent dislocation, so I haven't been able to work on any of the bigger pieces in my queue. So here's a sketchdump of some of my favorite movie and book moments when Boromir figures somebody has to be the dad of this operation. From top left:

-Teaching Pippin swordplay

-Emerging from the snowdrift after ploughing a route down from Caradhras to find a smartass Legolas while a fed-up Aragorn shouts from behind

-That moment in FotR when Boromir the military strategist is the first to run to the door of Balin's tomb when the Orcs show up

-When he realizes Frodo is slowly and quietly succumbing to hypothermia on Caradhras and shakes him out of it.

Dead center is an indulgence for all of us, because a) we get to see Aragorn in his jammies but not Boromir, and that's just real sad, and b) Boromir deserves more smiles. I 900% referenced this from a still of Richard Sharpe looking at Teresa. Who is he looking at with this expression? Your OC, probably, after that one scene. You know the one, you dirty beast.
