something about death, and sustenance, and decay. Idk
Keying/graffiti-ing someones car is old news now if someone cheats we go at their wardrobe with a seam ripper
Next up is our lovely Chief Marquez and Athena, the character I'm playing as.
Andrea has a 14 in Strength (STR), a 16 in Dexterity (DEX), a 12 in Constitution (CON), a 12 Intelligence (INT), a 10 Wisdom (WIS), and a 10 Charisma (CHA).
Athena has a 10 in STR, a 16 in DEX, a 8 in CON, a 20 INT, a 14 WIS, and a 10 CHA.
Let's explain, shall we?
I won't detail Athena too much unless y'all want to hear about her, the important thing to note is that she, Roxie and Russell, (and technically Amy too.) have their stats done a bit differently. Everyone's stats are done by point buy, meaning there's a set number of points to use to 'buy' points for a stat. The only difference is their racial bonus due to their races being changed from human. I must stress that these aren't Andrea's final stats, just her starting out set. She's a Fighter much like Frank, a 14 in STR for mountain climbing and honestly? I think she should have some power behind her punches, you hurt her crew? Her work family? Better hope you have a strong armor class. A 16 in DEX because let's be honest, I swear she's sneaking up on us to either tell us something or get onto Frank about drinking. A 12 in CON to have a healthy stamina for climbing and late-night paperwork. 12 INT because I'd like to think she's spent a long time in the books after the incident in her childhood, in a pursuit of answers. Her 10 in WIS will be the first to get a boost from her experience in the field! Alas with point buy some stats are sacrificed for the benefit of others. For her 10 in CHA, I'm debating if it should become higher from her leadership role or if it should stay a 10 from her isolating childhood. Thoughts? Athena, dear Athena she's a Sorcerer, her only two stats that I feel should be specified is her INT and CON, due to this being the first I've shown a 20 and an 8. These stats are her current stats, but her 8 CON is permanent for reasons I'll tell if you wanna hear about them. Now the 20 INT? Her base stat is a 15 and her racial bonus gives her a +3 and a 4th level ASI (ability score approvements) give another +2 which makes it a 20. She was supposed to be a Wizard whose spell casting modifier, when she was changed into a Sorcerer, we decided it would be funny if her INT and CHA stayed the same. But no, an INT is important for investigation. I'll be getting into the races I've made everyone in another post!
I don’t know if anyone has ever done this before but, here ya go… The Different Types of Fanfiction!
I probably left a few out, but these are the most common, compared to their base fiction’s canon plot. Enjoy! XD
Tldr: Frank calls Amy's mother a Harpy, with the lore of Dungeons and Dragons what if I make her worse, like a Hag. Now with the lore of The Dead Three.
It's probably just me, but when I look at the symbol for Bhaal and Myrkul I get reminded of The Crimson Order and the Utopians. Yes yes I know Bhaal and Myrkul have a skull in the middle of their symbols but like, The Crimson Order basically murdered whoever needed to stay a secret and stay rich and Bhaal is the Faerûn God of murder. The Utopians prophecy was believed to be the bringing back of lost ones, was it a lie to cover up a brainwashing scheme? Possibly, but the whole talk of bringing back people from the dead makes me think of Myrkul, the Lord of Bones. Myrkul and Bhaal usually come with a third, Bane, the God of Tyranny, and I thought SOMBRA would go hand in hand with him. The only problem is his symbol is a hand. A hand. Sigh. All in all I am now playing a dnd campaign with my friend that takes place in a modern Faerûn in the Criminal Case universe.
I would lie and say I planned it out because I thought it'd be fun to add dnd lore and creatures to the world of Criminal Case, you know, Supernatural Investigations but more dnd based.
It's true for the most part, but then my mind went, 'I could give Amy the Hexblood lineage to make her mother a Hag, and Hags are waaaaaaaaaay worse than Harpies.'
I miss Criminal Case; it was a good chunk of my childhood and my introduction to the works of fiction I've come to love. Fanfiction. So why not make it another universe that I take and add dnd lore to it?
Do you want Ingo and Emmet to reunite in Pokemon Masters?
The game developers have released a player feedback survey, which, among other things, asks what stories and trainers we'd like to see in Masters in the future. Notably, one suggested option is whether we would like "stories that continue the ones in the main Pokémon games". Another asks "what combination of trainers you would most like to see interact in Masters?"
It would be great for all Submas fans to fill it out and suggest that they give closure to Ingo and Emmet's story! There's precedent for such a thing - the long awaited reunion between N and the BW protagonist (Hilbert in Masters) happened in the Story Event "The Ideal Formula" (a YouTube recording of the story can be seen here https://youtu.be/zWyiuVVigMo?si=8UHz6xbcVvgI4URN).
Some reasons you could use to justify why they should let Ingo and Emmet reunite in Masters:
The arrival of Hisuian sync pairs such as Irida, Adaman, Akari and Rei make this interaction plausible and highly anticipated.
Ingo and Emmet are two of the most popular trainers from BW/B2W2, and only got more popular after PLA. They have a massive fanbase, both in Japan and internationally, that would be attracted to the game (and incentivised to pull) if such an event occurred.
Although another version of Ingo already exists on Pasio, similar things have happened before with alts such as Classic Elesa, Champion Iris and Kimono Grimsley (from his appearance in Alola).
One of Masters' greatest strengths is that it is uniquely positioned to deliver character writing and interactions that the main games were not able to address. Such as the aforementioned reunion between the BW protagonist and N. This would utilise that unique space to finally give closure on Ingo and Emmet's unexplained and heartwrenching separation.
But don't feel the need to use my words - use your own! Unique responses are great and also increase the chances that we'll be taken seriously.
So where's the survey link? Well, I would link it, but every user account in Pokémon Masters (when set to English - you can change this in the settings!) has its own unique link with an id generated on the end. The survey technically still works without it but I'd prefer to be on the safe side to make sure our answers count! The survey can be found in your message box (after setting your game language to English as necessary.)
The survey runs from 10/29/2023 11:00 p.m. PT – 11/12/2023 9:59 p.m. PT. So we've got until November 12 to spread the word!
Note that every person can only fill the survey out once.
We nearly got Ingo to be the #1 Tumblr Sexyman. We can do this!
credit to @cefren for the getting the ball rolling on this campaign!
I think that more fanfiction should be written with the aim to tackle the original meaning of hanahaki. Because when the concept of hanahaki disease was originally created, it was intended to be a metaphor for suppressing one’s feelings.
Your feelings are this beautiful garden of flora inside of your chest. When you express how you feel honestly, you allow for it to grow freely. But when you hide how you feel out of fear of rejection, and try to make it smaller and smaller, the flowers become cramped inside of you, until you choke on your own feelings. Every flower you cough up is something you’ve felt, but refused to say.
The whole “dying” thing is intended to be more symbolic especially. You’re killing off bits and pieces of yourself and how you feel, because you’re afraid to express yourself.
It’s not really supposed to be, “The one I love doesn’t love me back, and I’m dying from it.” Rather, it’s more along the lines of, “Repressing your emotions is bad for you, and it’s better and healthier to express them freely, even when it’s scary.”
Which is to say that, one, the cure for the disease should be telling the person that you are in love with how you feel. How the other person feels about the person afflicted should have nothing to do with it, as the trope is meant to be about feeling your emotions unapologetically.
And that, two, it’s not an inherently romantic trope. Obviously, it has romantic applications, but it can be written for any situation where a character is hiding how they truly feel. This can include a refusal to address a specific trauma, a desire to indulge in something that they’re ashamed of, and even really practical things, like wanting to ask one’s boss for a higher position.
Although (as an aromantic person myself) I don’t agree with this conclusion about the trope, this application would also avoid people calling it arophobic. When the thing killing the character is a refusal to be honest with themselves, rather than an unrequited love, it’s on nobody’s hands but their own to save their life.
There are a ton of ways that this interpretation of the hanahaki disease could be applied in new and interesting ways in fanfiction, and I’d love to read what things people could come up with!
