I Said It In The Tags Of A Post But Honestly, I Feel Like I Need To Make My Own Post Because While We're

I said it in the tags of a post but honestly, I feel like I need to make my own post because while we're doing the whole "stop supporting jkr!" thing I need everyone to remember that not only is she blatantly transphobic (and specifically transmisogynistic), but that she and her books are incredibly racist and antisemitic.

Appropriating Indigenous American cultures for her American wizard school. Making all of the bankers in her books hook-nosed goblins. Naming the ONLY East Asian character in the books "Cho Chang" and putting her in the "smart people house". The way that she treats the Patil Twins, the only two other Asians, and the only South Asians in the series. The way that she treats ALL her characters of color. JKR's racism has always been there. People just seem to gloss over it for some reason and to be honest, I'm getting really frustrated and tired of constantly adding that racism is a problem in the notes of these posts. And this is literally just based on Harry Potter! The rest of her stuff surely has even more problems!

I don't want to downplay her transphobia. That's a huge issue that, I, especially as a trans person, cannot emphasize enough! But as a person of color, I feel like I need to remind y'all that it's just the tip of the iceberg.

I think OP of this post I rbed about JKR's racism specifically against Indigenous Americans put it perfectly. This has made it painfully obvious that people are white before they are queer.

It's not that hard just to acknowledge her racism alongside her transphobia. If you're making a post about her remember that she's shitty in so many other ways, and she's always been shitty.

I know this is long but I'm rambling, so...

tl;dr JKR is racist as well as transphobic. Just acknowledge that in your pleas for people to stop supporting her. Please. It's literally so easy. anyways jkr's a piece of shit and I hope she burns in hell!!

- sincerely, a trans poc who's tired of this shit

There are three kinds of LGBT headcanons:

Actual queer coding / metaphors ("Nimona is trans because her creator made her as a way to express his feelings as a trans person")

Vibes ("Link is genderless because I said so")

So it’s my brothers birthday, and I got him something online a few weeks ago. For whatever stupid reason, it only started shipping yesterday and won’t be here for a while, so we printed off a picture of what I got him and we’re gonna give that to him today. The plan was to put it in an envelope or something, but then my mom asked if I’d wrapped my present to him yet. She quickly realized her mistake and corrected it, but I had already heard, and seeing as I am hugely pedantic, well...

Did I wrap a single slip of printer paper? Yes

Did I do it in Christmas wrapping paper? Also yes

Did I do a good job? Well, it turned out square, so we’re gonna go with no

So It’s My Brothers Birthday, And I Got Him Something Online A Few Weeks Ago. For Whatever Stupid Reason,

I find it funny that people who live in the lower 48 are all like “bald eagles are so majestic and beautiful, symbols of our nation” whereas up here in Alaska, we talk about them almost like people talk about raccoons or opossums

Like “yeah you can usually see a minimum of 6 or 7 around the dump area because they like to hang out there all day and eat garbage”

Symbols of our nation though they may be, they are still trash-eating birds

I feel like people are sleeping on the awesomeness that is Sister Boniface Mysteries. I think it's considered "cozy murder mysteries" which is just a weird genre to have, but it's a spinoff of Father Brown in the 60's in the Cotswolds of England. I'm not usually a murder mystery fan, they're mostly just 'eh' for me - neither good or bad, just there to have in the background. But I love Sister Boniface for several reasons (which I will admit bias to)

The police are actually happy to have her around. The main DI will find an excuse to pull her into any case they have, and the entire police force love her and will almost always follow her advice/lead, unlike 90% of other mystery shows where the police are always either one step off from bad guys or just can't be bothered.

It shows the wide diversity of women who find their way to a convent. The nuns make wine. They wind up on cooking shows. They host an episode of a really hokey Austin Powers type TV series. They guest star on a children's show being filmed at the church. They love being a part of the cases when they get roped in. The Mother Superior is a cranky Irish lady who is like a beleagured mom who has more luck herding cats than keeping the Sisters out of cases, but she also has a favorite fish in the pond that she feeds, and loves babies and new parents and bends over backwards to help people and lets Sister Boniface blow up the basement with her experiments on a regular basis.

Sister Boniface herself. She was a translator in WW2, she has the equivalent of a masters in chemistry and is the police department's Go To forensics. She has a vivid imagination that borders on cartoonish when imagining the crime and how it could've happened. She rides a motorcycle. She is like 5 feet tall and spicy. The basement of the church has been converted into her own laboratory where she tinkers and futzes at all hours as long as it doesn't interfere with her church duties.

THE SISTER AND THE INSPECTOR ARE BESTIES WHO CRACK TERRIBLE PUNS OVER CRIME SCENES. No, really, there's an entire youtube video of every scene where these two idiots (affectionate) are cracking the absolutely WORST puns related to the crime. Sam Gillespie is the DI and he doesn't seem to actually enjoy the police part of policing, but really likes the community outreach part. He's a WWII vet that was at the battle of Normandy, took heavy losses, got bayoneted (which is brought up in one episode), and as soon as a crime has been committed, he calls in Sister Boniface. There is zero romantic interest between them, she is like his actual sister, and they are absolute enablers for each other's shenanigans, and it is hilarious.

There are no bad characters.

Every once in a while you’ll be having a nice family dinner and your mom will remind you that she reads Pride and Prejudice fanfiction in a casual conversation and continue with her thought like she hasn’t thrown everybody for a loop again
