“I think women like to read about murderous mothers and lost little girls because it’s our only mainstream outlet to even begin discussing female violence on a personal level. Female violence is a specific brand of ferocity. It’s invasive. A girlfight is all teeth and hair, spit and nails — a much more fearsome thing to watch than two dudes clobbering each other. And the mental violence is positively gory. Women entwine. Some of the most disturbing, sick relationships I’ve witnessed are between long-time friends, and especially mothers and daughters. Innuendo, backspin, false encouragement, punishing withdrawal, sexual jealousy, garden-variety jealousy — watching women go to work on each other is a horrific bit of pageantry that can stretch on for years. Libraries are filled with stories on generations of brutal men, trapped in a cycle of aggression. I wanted to write about the violence of women. […] I particularly mourn the lack of female villains — good, potent female villains…I’m talking violent, wicked women. Scary women. Don’t tell me you don’t know some. The point is, women have spent so many years girl-powering ourselves — to the point of almost parodic encouragement — we’ve left no room to acknowledge our dark side. Dark sides are important. They should be nurtured like nasty black orchids.”
— Gillian Flynn, “I Was Not a Nice Little Girl”
Thirteen and Dhawan!Master have the relationship dynamic of a feral raccoon and a wet cat.
Change my mind.
– The format of this piece in my Resources For Writing Period Pieces series is different due to it covering only a portion of a century, which has much more documentation and recorded historical details. I’ve done this in a way that covered each decade almost separately, but put all four under the umbrella of “early 20th century”. I hope this is helpful to all of you historical fiction writers out there. The other two articles covering this century will be formatted the same way. Happy researching!

MY CURRENT WORK IN PROGRESS (Check it out, it’s pretty cool. At least I think it is.)
My hypothesis is that in like 10 years gen z is gonna have a big cult boom the way the boomers did in the 70s
unfortunate that the united states has been very successful at controlling narratives around word war 2 and positioning itself as the polar opposite of nazism and the main force fighting fascism when america was complicit in the holocaust. not only did american press report positively about hitler and the nazi party up until the end of the 30′s, some publications cooperated with nazi germany, american companies had investments and connections to nazi germany that they maintained until american involvement in the war, and companies like ibm in particular gave nazis the technology necessary to make the holocaust possible in the first place. some company owners themselves had nazi sympathies like henry ford and others just saw it as a business opportunity. the us denied entry to european jewish refugees and deported jewish refugees back to germany, many senators and other government officials during the 1930s openly supported nazism and worked to prevent the us from taking a side in ww2, and during the 30s large pro nazi rallies were held across the us. american eugenics movement, american race laws and american genocide set the model for the holocaust and there shouldnt be any discussion of nazism and the holocaust without also discussing the extent of american complicity in it.
anyways heres some material on it

Where the sole survivor of the Asha race, seeks revenge to the dragon who burned her home to the ground. When coming in contact with the old pilgrim, Gandalf the Grey, she gets thrown into the company of thirteen dwarves and a rather uncomfortable hobbit. While culture clashes against each other harshly, a young dwarf can't help but feel gravitated towards the strange woman. She hates his uncle with her guts, and he knows, yet he cannot seem to escape his eyes from observing her from afar, knowing she was his one the moment she set foot into the wild.
Or
Where the Durin siblings have to stop a stranger and their uncle from committing homicide.
