Things I've heard in my first days of High School

"it's okay bee!! You can go on MY hand"

.

"you guys all got coffee? is there something IN the coffee?"

"WEED FOR LIFE"

.

"do you buy lunch or bring it?"

"yes."

.

"I wanna eat my piece of fucking chocolate"

.

"you need to walk a little faster." "sorry, I'm making out with my boyfriend at the IMC!"

i wish there was a name for a kind of song that’s catchy, upbeat, and worth dancing to, but also bittersweet and tinged with an unexplainable sadness.

the best i can describe it is ‘songs you would put in an amv when a long series is over and you’re reminiscing on the journey while holding back sobs’

Freddie Mercury - Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow (Official Video)

Released on Freddie’s birthday - September 5, 2019

Two white blood cells fall in love in the surreal, animated video for Freddie Mercury’s “Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow,” a single from the late singer’s 1985 solo debut Mr. Bad Guy. The clip was released on Thursday to honor what would have been the late singer’s 73rd birthday.

The two cells serenade each other under a disco ball, only to have heartbreak ensue when one of them gets diagnosed with AIDS. The clip was directed by Esteban Bravo and Beth David, the duo behind the Oscar-winning short film In a Heartbeat. It pays tribute to The Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity founded after Mercury’s death by Queen members Brian May, Roger Taylor and manager Jim Beach.

“We wanted to tell a story that was relevant to Freddie’s life, but not explicitly about him,” the directors said in a statement. “The AIDS crisis of the 1980s is a huge part of LGBT history, and it’s something that we knew needed to be handled with care.”

“It is a love story between two white blood cells, one of which has become infected by the virus,” the directors added. “This perspective gave us a more direct visual representation of our conflict, which allowed us to explore the more nuanced struggles the characters face in their relationship with each other, their perceptions of themselves, and society’s perception, bias, and neglect of them.”

“Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow” will be included on Never Boring, a new box set comprised of Mercury’s solo career. “I had a lot of ideas bursting to get out,” Mercury once said of his solo career, “And there were a lot of musical territories I wanted to explore which I really couldn’t do within Queen.”

One of the main complaints I see a lot from ST fans is that many of the characters are either useless or have had nothing to do over the course of the show. I wonder if said fans ever took the time to consider the fact that:

Mike’s intelligence, optimism, compassion, unorthodox method of thinking, and commitment to his friends saved the Party from bullies and the great evils of the Upside Down, the Demogorgon, and the Mind Flayer.

Lucas used common sense and rationale to aid in finding Will, and was supportive of Max and Mike in their respective times of need.

Dustin’s keen sense of observation helped to resolve conflicts within the Party, keeping them on track to finding Will, and his book smarts later gave more clarity on the impending dangers of Dart and the Mind Flayer.

Will’s heightened sensibilities informed and prepared the Party for what they were up against in fighting the Mind Flayer.

El’s empathy, loyalty, and protectiveness saved her loved ones on several occasions, both physically and emotionally.

Max’s independence and willingness to extend a hand in friendship made El realize that she could have a life outside of her boyfriend.

Joyce’s maternal love and unwavering faith in the impossible aided in Will’s return and subsequent well-being.

Hopper’s protectiveness and a strong sense of duty resulted in Will’s return and El remaining safe for nearly a year after her disappearance.

Jonathan’s displays of kindness and courage, as well as a sincere fondness for all things abnormal, provided a solid foundation for his family (both biological and surrogate).

Nancy’s fierce determination, intellect, and passion for justice led to uncovering the truth behind Barb’s death and the growing threat of the Mind Flayer.

Steve’s willingness to reconcile his poor decisions and become a mentor figure to Dustin showed us all that self-reformation is possible.

Robin’s unconventional skills and academic intelligence helped to expose the truth behind the Russians’ involvement with Starcourt Mall and their plans to reopen the Gate.

At the end of the day, this is a large ensemble cast of characters. While one can argue that some individual storylines could have been executed differently, it’s impossible for everyone to get an equal amount of screen time. A character’s purpose isn’t always measured by how many times they can throw a punch or swing a nail bat. Their mental and emotional strengths are just as important, if not more compelling and vital to the show overall.

Oreo God, may I have words of advice for starting school tomorrow?

*Ahem* I think you meant Oreo Dad.

Yea, I got some advice. Ready?

English/language arts: when writing a research paper or essay, you aren't really there to learn anything or (more importantly) teach something to someone else. I know that's what it looks like, but the point of that task is the form, not the function. Write about the easiest topic possible, but write about it WELL. Use the internet to make your work cited page perfect. They care about those a lot for some reason.

Math: it sucks and no, you won't use most of it later in life if you dont get into engineering. However, finding patterns and knowing that you CAN do things like measure the outside of a cylinder and use a formula to determine the volume of its contents... Well, that really cements the permenece and absolute value that things have more than just about anything. Things can be measured. Things can be weighed. Problems CAN be figured out.

Music: do it. Even if you suck or have no sense for tone or rhythm, this is your one shot in life where people expect nothing from you but to listen to and participate in music and you get a pat on the back and an easy letter on your report card.

Sports: do it. Get ons it. This is the one time in life you will get free work out time. Even if you say "screw it" to the team aspect of sports, just do it for the exersize. Trust me. You will regret not taking advantage of this if you don't. Go out for cross country and run slow and come in last at every meet. I don't care. Just do it and be in the best shape of your life while reviving free coaching and access to training grounds. You won't see those ever again.

School sucks, and the temptation is to me melodramatic and whine about it or act like you are too above it to care. Those addatudes are coping mechanisms and I get that, but it is important not to wallow. Do you know what I mean? Like be sad when youbare sad and frustrated when you are frustrated. Give those emotions the time they deserve, but no more. Don't live your day to be mad about anything. Give happiness and kindness their place too.

Remember, if you have somone you love, you have proven that you are capable of love and therefor worthy of love. And if you can love, and are worthy of it, you can and should love yourself.

Chin up kiddo, and check in with me through the year, k?

O and don't vape

the most important thing i took away from freshman year was that you definitely need more than one notebook for all your subjects

listen up freshman babies

on Twitter the #freshmanadvice is terrible and it’s mostly for hazing. but if you’re entering high school I have some advice for you.

• wash your face every night and take of all your makeup.

• do your homework as soon as you get home. I’m serious. I’ve only done it a couple times and I kill myself with all the work I put off.

• procrastination is inevitable but try to avoid it. I’ve had so many avoidable emotional breakdowns.

• if you need help, ask for it.

• study

• that boy/girl who is consuming you entire life right now, probably won’t matter in a couple years. it’ll be okay.

• don’t worry about not being asked to any dances, go with a pack a friends and look fly af. it’ll be okay.

• get involved in things. clubs. sports. theater. chorus. band. there is something for you.

• relax.

• almost every worksheet is online. seriously, just google the title. you’ll probably find it.

• sparknotes is your new best friend.

• the buddy system for notes/homework is always a good plan.

• your grades are important but breathe. you’ll survive even if you get a D on a test. if you don’t get straight A’s. it’ll all be okay.

• don’t date seniors. don’t do it.

• you can do it, it’s not as scary as it seems.
