11 Questions Meme

I was tagged by wentworthsbitch. ♥ ♡ ❤ (Third time’s the charm? A.K.A. carletoncolton reattempts the 11 Questions Meme.)

rule 1: always post the rules rule 2: answer the questions from the person who tagged you rule 3: tag 10 people and link them in your post rule 4: let them know you’ve tagged them

1. If you could be killed by any celebrity, who would it be and how would they do it? (yes they have to kill you shutup)

This one had me laughing facedown on my desk and then lying there drawing blank after blank for half the morning. Then I decided to approach this question logically and started researching celebrities with documented weapons training. After all, if I have to be murdered …

Right. So, after considering several likely candidates (Don’t read into my search history, NSA!), I settled on Lucy Liu. As a former student of kali-eskrima-silat, a traditional Filipino weapon-based system of martial arts emphasizing the use of blades, among other things, I’m confident she could have me crumpled in a pool of my own lifeblood before I could start running. And that’s really all that matters, right?

2. Whose face would you like to see on your currency besides the current old person that’s most likely on it?

Considering that only a scant few actual, non-allegorical, flesh and blood women have ever been printed/minted on US currency in all our history (and only Martha Washington on paper) … that would be a useful starting point for looking. I’d like to see Harriet Tubman on a bill, myself. Because disturbingly, but perhaps unsurprisingly, there hasn’t ever been a portrait of an African American featured on US paper money either. 3. If you were ever in London, where is the first place you’d wanna go?

I know absolutely nothing about London, really - not more than your average American does, anyhow. (Which, again, is basically nothing.) But if I know me, and do I ever, I’d make straight for the nearest decent-looking restaurant. 4. It’s 1am and you unexpectedly get kicked out. If money wasn’t a problem, what hotel would you stay at?

If money wasn’t an issue, I wouldn’t stay at a hotel - not here, anyway. I live in a small town in Michigan, so all we’ve got are a few chain hotels clustered together around our exit to US94. Red Roof Inn, that sort of thing. 5. What is your favorite post on tumblr of all times?

image

… Ummmmm.

6. You HAVE to pick ONE president to sleep with. You HAVE to. Who would you choose? (idc if youre not american answer it)

Ahaha … well. I’m demisexual, actually, so as far as the whole casual sex bit goes, I’ll pass. Every time. Even if I were to find myself in the (enviable?) position of being propositioned by a US president. If I just had to sleep with a president, though?

Another Google search I never thought I’d be making later …

James Buchanan. As the only US president to remain a lifelong bachelor, owing to either his heartbreak over a fiance’s untimely death and subsequent choice to remain celibate, or his possible asexuality or homosexuality (the strongest case can be made for the latter), he’s really the only one I’d feel even marginally safe in bed with. Best case scenario: heartwarming homo/demi sleepover complete with all the late-night philosophizing and snacking that comes with the territory. *stubbornly ignores his politics for the duration of this questionnaire* 7. Who’s your favorite character dressed in leather?

Zoë Alleyne Washburne! 8. Are you a mouthwash user?

Yes - it’s the least tedious part of the entire process, as far as I’m concerned. 9. When was the last time you went to a party? What was it for?

This is a little embarrassing (I’m a professional party avoider - depressingly, I’ve been to more funerals than parties this year), but it was my own birthday party in April. 10. A crack ship that is literally so crack you don’t even know why you ship it you just do?

I kinda wanna see Peter Jakes kiss Endeavour Morse and NO ID ON”T WNAT to talk about it. Ahem. 11. Do you find BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH ATTRACTIVE? I’M OFF AND ON ALL THE TIME, BUT I NEED TO KNOW GODDAMMIT. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I do! Aesthetically. Though the first time I saw him, as Sherlock, I found the sort of skull-like aspect of his face … disquieting. I’m sure it has more to do with the dramatic way the production staff choose to light him for the first half-hour or so than the way he looks in life, but there was such an otherworldly, corpselike aura about him that I was genuinely worried about his health. Heh. (._.;)

A Tag Thing

Tagged by: @sunderlorn

Rules: Tag 9 people you want to get to know better. Being that ass friend who may or may not return your messages or even see your tags half the time I can't in good conscience bring myself to ask anyone to write anything. *sweats*

Relationship status: Committed, monogamous, etc., for the last ten (and a half or so) years.

Wake-up time: I'm unemployed at the moment, and've been that often enough for the way my sleeping schedule abruptly ceases to exist every time it happens to be downright predictable. Between that and my tendency to oversleep, lately it's been any hour of the day from about 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. Yesterday it was 8:30 PM. On the bright side, my cat appreciates the opportunity to lie on top of me at novel hours.

Cats or dogs: Cats. It's embarrassing, but I've never been able to repress my disgust for the distinctive stench that just wafts off dogs - the way it lingers on your hands after touching them sends me sidling off to the nearest sink to scrub it away as soon as I politely can. And that's leaving their breath aside... which wouldn't be nearly as much of an issue if they all didn't insist on licking every accessible inch of exposed skin on your body. Why, dogs? Why.

Call or text: Text. I'm soft-spoken and have a bit of an accent, so all the cell distortion and crackling over the lines doesn't do me any favors.

Chapstick or lipstick: Chapstick or balm, tinted ideally. I want it to be lipstick, but I can't hack wearing it. It's harder than it looks. The last time I tried, I got it on my teeth at least three times, my hands, my face, my friend somehow, and worst of all in half an almost perfectly classic lip print on the meticulously wrapped Secret Santa gift I was holding (which caused me some anxiety over how it would be received, haha).

Last song you listened to: Nothing's Gonna Hurt You, Baby - Cigarettes After Sex.

ATTENTION SHERLOCK FANDOM!

ATTENTION SHERLOCK FANDOM!

Hello! My name is Carolina and I’m a Literature major currently working on an oral presentation about modern adaptations of earlier literary works. One of the examples we chose is the show Sherlock, and since there is such a big fanbase for this show in Tumblr I thought it would be a good idea to conduct an online survey to further our research.

The survey is completely anonymous and made up mostly of multiple choice questions, all very easy to answer. We need to obtain at least 50 replies to draw any sort of conclusion, so please answer if you can. The only requirement is having watched the show; if you think you can’t answer one of the questions, you can simply skip it. However, please try to answer them all honestly. It will take you only a few minutes and my research group and I really appreciate your help.

HERE IS THE SURVEY.

Please reblog & share; the more replies we get, the more accurate we can hope our results to be!

“Taking The Cake” Is An Illustrated Zine And 101 About Asexuality, Created By Maisha In 2012. It

“Taking The Cake” is an illustrated zine and 101 about asexuality, created by Maisha in 2012. It includes the basic definitions, some of the nuances of asexuality, explains the types of attraction that exist (not all attraction is sexual), dispels myths, includes resources and takes on the topic of whether asexuality is included in the queer community or not. Some say no, some say yes. Anyway, very helpful information and the artwork is exquisite. You see that Black woman on the cover! ♥♠

Thank you for answering this so thoroughly! Your response was fascinating. Little Simra poring over charcoal glyphs scratched over the hearth is one of my favorite bits of imagery so far. But most of all I relished the chance to learn more about Simra’s mother. As with Soraya, her presence is felt more immediately through her impact on Simra and his father than through the rare glimpses we get of who she was otherwise - for me, the effect is reminiscent of the feeling you get craning your neck to see something through a barred window or the slats of a fence. What details you do manage to pick out are all the more vivid for the strain of searching. For instance, I remember returning again and again in my mind for days after I’d read it to the image of a soft leather jacket left behind with Verru (unfinished?) after her death, that she’d intended as a wedding gift for Soraya.

I have to confess, though, about an hour after I sent my question off I suddenly remembered that I already knew that Simra’s parents were literate - he writes them both at least once, doesn’t he? And the letters for his father are couched in a rather touchingly careful Dunmeris, even. So I felt like a huge dork all morning. (⌒_⌒;) Guess I should have slept on it instead of rolling out of bed in the middle of the night to ask, huh?

If I remember correctly, most Ashlanders are illiterate, forgoing a written tradition in favor of an oral one. Assuming that Simra's parents follow convention in this, then how did Simra come by his letters? And what does Simra's mother in particular, as a former wisewoman-in-training, think of his unorthodox affinity for the written word?

[This is a very good question. Mostly because it does something my favourite questions do. It asks something for which I don’t already have an answer. But it asks something that needed to be asked. It’s something useful to me. So already, thanks for that.Simra’s parents were travellers of Ashlander extraction. They didn’t spend all their time with the Zainab. So yes, while they were raised within and each participated within an oral tradition - particularly on the part of Ishar, his mother - they were literate to one degree or another. It was actually Ishar, rather than Simra’s father, who was the better linguist, reader, and writer. His father never learnt more than a few things outside of Dunmeris. Her background gave her more of a respect for knowledge, however the knowers store it and keep it known, orally or literarily.Bringing up her children in Skyrim, it was she that educated them in mixed Tamrielic and Dunmeris: reading, writing, arithmetic, bits and pieces of history, theology. She would not have her children go without the skills that they’d need to live as something other than Ashlanders.Admittedly, young Simra paid more attention than Soraya. This learning did not come from reading, however, but through listening. Even Simra’s literacy comes from watching his mother scratch letters and words in charcoal above their fireplace. And the oral nature of these lessons is perhaps part of the reason Simra has such a good verbal memory. In short, Simra’s no Zainab. He’s Dunmer, and part of Morrowind’s diaspora. He’s of Zainab blood, raised by parents who were raised Zainab. He himself admits that he’s a Dunmer of Skyrim, however — inheritor of some Ashlander traditions, but barred off from others, and proud of both.So he’s an unorthodox Dunmer in one sense. But he was raised by an unorthodox womer, after all — why d’you think she didn’t ever become a full-fledged wisewoman? For the most part it was Ishar who refused to acclimatise to this new place and new culture, his heart living with his wife and children, but belonging back in the Grazelands.]

My Asexual Story, 2018.

Another little autobiographical comic I whipped together (this was drawn in like two hours tops so don’t judge the drawings lmao). To clarify, I am in a happy long-term committed relationship with a non-ace girl and we’re both very happy with our relationship, and I have never had bad experiences with relationships because of my asexuality. Being ace isn’t a big deal to me - I barely think about it - but asexuality is something that a lot of people seem to have trouble fully understanding, so I wanted to take some time to describe it the way I see it in my life and from my perspective. Every story is different - here’s mine.
