Maybe the reason charles and max are so weird about each other is because of incoming baby verstappen. Like Jacob and Bella, but less creepy (more mentorship). Charles is gonna become baby verstappen's obiwan kenobi in 20 years and make sure they are a monagasque ferrari driver.
bold of nico to assume mclaren is going into this race with any strategy
The thing is... mental health has always been a problem in sports, especially in such an elite sport as f1. Drivers suffer and cope in different ways and it's important to bring attention to the fact that they are people and can see online hate etc.
But it's funny how no one cared about it untill norris. (he is 100% valid in his experience and emotions, and I'm glad hes talking about it) but THE FANS never actually gave a shit before.
For years jokes (and assumptions) have been made about verstappen's childhood and relationship with kelly in a very negative way, and no one gave a shit.
Hamilton has been the butt of homophobic and racist jokes for years, and no one gave a shit. Checo, Zhou, Albon and Tsunoda have all been subjected to the racism of this sport and its fans.
Leclerc has faced loss in the most devastating way and had to share that with the world, and no one gave a shit. Gasly and Ocon both lost a friend and had to see it be used as a media piece again and again.
Sargeant's treatment from williams was absolutely disgusting, not the firing part, the shit vowles said and how he was treated in general.
Past drivers like rosberg, button, webber have said how they struggled with the pressure. This is still relevant to current drivers.
The weight limit the drivers have to adhere to adding to disordered eating and definitely body image issues. Still fucking relevant.
SO... if we are gonna talk drivers' mental health, it's gotta be as whole. Fans can't pick and choose when mental health issues are relevant to a driver's performance or not. And it does not excuse bad behaviour on or off track.
This is coming from a genuine place, as I have been struggling with depression and anxiety for years. We as fans have a responsibility to also make the sport safe and enjoyable for drivers and fans alike.
Alex and Ollie contact/crash situation was slightly funny to me only because Alex was about to walk over the track (would've probably gotten a penalty) until the safety car pulled up vs Ollie just standing by his car, like a kid waiting for their mom to pick them up after school.
It looks like Newey was right on SkySports' agenda, especially theirs against Verstappen.
The only brit to criticise the british bias! Wise words from a man making a fernando level career choice, but Baldilocks can build a car.
Unfortunately I can never escape sky sports, the only broadcast available in my region, and I can't afford F1 TV.
You know that part earlier in the season, when everyone was like "if norris loses the wdc by 7 points, it'll be because he had to 'give' piastri that win".
And now he might lose the wdc with 40+ points... So who the fuck is to blame for that?
The commentator (think it was Anthony Davis) saying, before the race started, that he hopes to see some real driving and battling from norris, since his win in Miami was gifted, had me gagged.
Not mad if norris wins, possible lestappen podium making me sweat already.
Rosberg sounding like an auctioneer giving everyone a play-by-play of Max's flying lap. And the way the other commentators just gave it to Nico to do, like their weird little cousin with a special interest, that is finally relevant on trivia night.
