Hey y’all it’s flu season. My mom’s got a little cough/fever going on so I called my grandmother and she gave me a bunch of remedies. She’s a Colombian woman who knows her folk magic so I thought I would share them here.
lemon
water
honey
Can be heated up in the microwave.
Main ingredients (add a lot of these):
red onion
garlic
Optional add ons:
chicken
buganvilla flowers (good for a cough)
carrots or anything else that would make it more nutritious and delicious
All cooked together in a pot with water.
banana
butter
honey
Mashed together until creamy and smooth.
warm water
salt or baking soda
Gargle it in the back of your throat and then spit it out.
It’s really important to take fluids when you’re sick so it’s also a good idea to drink liquids like orange juice (which has vitamin c), tea, and water.
If you’ve got any further question about how to make these or my personal magical correspondences, my ask is always open.
I think something people have to realize first in trying to reconstruct historical magical and religious practices is that belief=/=worship. Many traditional witches believe in Christ but don’t worship him because they’re not the same thing. And certain historical pagan religions did believe the gods of their neighbors were… something! But acknowledging something as existing and venerating it are two different things.
When someone blogs about a spell, consecration, ritual or any personal magical or witchcraft work, they usually leave something out intentionally or unintentionally, said or unsaid. My first witchcraft teacher taught me to always add something to my spell work and especially if a spell had an even number of components to make it odd by addition. As a witch you need to make a spell your own, something that you and your spirits add to the mix. While most anybody can use a well made spell without edit to reasonable success, a witch tends to seal theirs with some personal flair. I have not heard this specific advice repeated by any of my subsequent craft teachers; however, it rings so true and perhaps sensible that I have always held it. Of course my subsequent teachers have emphasized making your own spells. So the emphasis on personalized witchcraft holds.

I feel like everything that is happening in the world current time, has really thrown everyones energies off balance. Being an empath, this makes it hard for me to ground myself, when overwhelmed by so much draining energy and negativity. In times like this, sometimes, we can’t control everything that is happening around us. With this acceptance, sit back, and cook yourself some butter chicken. Because you ~ really deserve it.
Fresh Produce:
1 medium-sized onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, mincedÂ
1 tsp fresh grated gingerÂ
1 ½ pounds cubed chicken breast
Squeeze of lemon
Dairy:
1 cup half and half
¼ cup plain yogurtÂ
6 tbsp ghee (Angels tips. Ghee is healthier than butter, reduces heart attack risk, and helps with the absorption of magick herbs!)
Pantry:
2 tsp olive oilÂ
8 oz can tomato sauce
5 tbsp tomato paste
Pinch of sugar
Magick Spices:
1 ½ tsp chili powder ~ warding, hex breaking, good outcomes, spell booster Â
1 tsp paprika ~ healing, increases power, comfort
Pinch of cayenne pepper ~ protection, strength, empowermentÂ
1 tbsp garam masala ~ healing, protection, strength, comfort
Salt and pepper to taste ~ Warding and protection
In a large deep pan, heat extra virgin olive oil. Add in garlic, onions, chicken, and ginger. Mix in with all of your spices.
Now melt in ghee, and cook until it is about ¾ of the way done. Cook on medium heat.
Then pour in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, lemon juice, sugar, yogurt and half and half. Stir to combine fully. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes to allow the sauce to reduce.
Taste the sauce, and add whatever you feel suits your taste. You can even add more magickal ingredients to this recipe to fit your magick needs!
Serve over white rice, and garlic naan.
Hey if any of you guys are interested in demonology at all to any extent, grimoire.org is the most amazing and well-sourced resource I’ve ever seen, it cites everything from multiple historical grimoires, has a publishing timeline for them, displays sigils, has a section set aside for each demons powers, even lists similar demons, and it’s all very easy to understand the way it’s set up. Can not recommend it enough, it has more demons and more info than I’ve seen listed elsewhere
Nothing like a ritual healing bath to start the morning off right! Honey and milk bath poweder, rosemary, sage, and lavender.
