GOT SPOILERS!!!
Ok that was a really good episode.. That was literally an hour and 20 minutes of me crying and yelling and biting my nails. The first 10 minutes gave me goosebumps right away and I knew it was gonna be epic.
OK MAIN THOUGHTS:
I expected more out of the scene in the crypts. I really thought the Starks would have to face their dead relatives and it would be a really tough scene.. Guess it was unnecessary to do anyway but still tho
Sansa and Theon…. I just……. When the piano started playing and all they could do was look into each other’s eyes and find comfort and security in one another i broke down….. Like SOBBED. Those two deserve happiness…..

Both of my favorite characters died but they were all good deaths. They both protected and defended TO DEATH the people they had done wrong in the past and came full circle with their regrets. That’s the kind of story arcs we need. I couldn’t be more proud of Theon and Jorah. Especially Theon! Nobody can top his character development in my opinion. Thank you, you two!
That Arya scene was hella sick?? But I can’t help but feel like it was all too easy…? I really wanted a different twist. I thought Bran and the Night King would do some warg or time travelling sht and finally explain why all this had to happen?? I really thought there was a bigger issue here. But we had none of that explained today. If the Night King really just wanted a war then I think that’s pretty weak story wise. As much as I thought Arya killing him was dope, I can’t help but feel a bit unsatisfied with the plot in general. There must be some sort of twist that would blow my mind!!
Overall that was one hell of a ride for an episode. And to think we’re only halfway there. That scares me the most. At this point the directors might let us all think that Cersei is gonna be easy to end now after all that, but we never know what that woman is up to these days. I think we shouldn’t be sleeping on her, she could be the biggest threat to the kingdom (or Dany lol). Whatever it’s going to be i am all up for it!!!!

I’m scared...but I’m ready for it to happen.
So they killed the Night King off in one episode with minimal deaths. That’s not what ANYONE expected.
Now we’re gearing up towards the “final battle” against Cersei. But Cersei isn’t nearly as scary as the Night King. And we have three episodes left. It’s improbable that Cersei fucking Lannister is worth more battle time than the Night King.
I just had the worst thought. Cersei isn’t going to get three episodes. She’s not the final battle.
The final battle is going to be Jon vs. Dany. The North is too loyal to Jon to kneel to Dany, and the Dothraki and Unsullied would never serve anyone other than their queen.
The final battle is going to be Jon Snow vs. Daenerys Targaryen and it’s going to have the biggest death toll we’ve ever seen.
I know some of y’all are literally on D & D’s necks half the time because you are dissatisfied with how they are adapting the story from the books, but for this episode, especially with Arya’s arc, y’all got to give credit where credit is due! Never in my life would I have guessed that Arya would end up killing the Night King, but they have literally been subtlety planting the seeds for this for awhile now and we all completely missed it until it all suddenly came together tonight! That’s pretty incredible in my book!

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about that episode. The whole battle from what I could see was great, it was intense and the music was just blowing me away. And sure I’m happy at Arya being a badass and taking out the Night King but it felt too easy and too quick. It didn’t give us any answers either. I dunno. They made the enemy too powerful, too mysterious and gave him too much hype that I thought there would have been a larger one on one fight with someone then killed.
You should have seen me on set that day. I was a bloody mess. [Laughs.] It was a very important moment for me, for obvious reasons. I wrote the “wedding night” episode in season five, which was a huge turning point for Sansa and for Theon. They are the only two people in this world that know know what the other endured, because they both were the victims of this abuser — sexual victims, psychological victims, pretty much every way you can be victimized, he inflicted upon them. They both survived it. They’ve both come through it. They both have a very long way to go, but they know that they have each other. I actually worked for a while on a dialogue scene between them where they talk all about it. I never even turned it in — it didn’t even make my first draft — and no one ever has read it but me. It felt like recapping something everyone had already seen. The audience knows what they endured. Those characters know what they endured. Having them talk about it felt forced, it felt contrived, it felt like I was writing a scene to answer my critics, which is not the reason you should write a scene. And when you have actors like Sophie [Turner] and Alfie [Allen] and a director like David [Nutter], you don’t need that stuff. So a scene that I never got right became distilled to what’s there: “I’ve come to fight for Winterfell if you’ll have me,” and then that shot in the middle of the song where they’re sharing a meal together. They’re drawing strength from each other even now. Having them share that meal on what could be their last night in the world spoke volumes.

Sansa knows that of all the Starks that were ripped from Winterfell, she suffered the most to get it back. She’s the driving force for getting it back. Now she’s being told, “It’s not yours, and it’s not the Starks’ anymore. It belongs to Hitler’s daughter, the worst person in the world’s daughter, the daughter of the person who murdered your grandfather and uncle in the worst way possible. And guess what? Your brother, who you convinced to step up when he wanted to fuck off because of his death experience, bent the knee to her and is telling you that she’s your queen.” What part of Sansa’s reaction to any of this is irrational?

In 1562, 23 Huguenots were killed in the Massacre of Vassy, which kicked off the French Wars of Religion. Between two and four million people got to find out if their particular beliefs were correct before the dust settled 36 years later. That represented between 12.5 to 25 percent of the entire population of France at the time. To put that in perspective with the current population of the US, a similar war would result in between 40 and 80 million deaths.
So keep this sort of thing in mind when you hear about people wanting to establish national religions anywhere. That shit never ends well.
My opinion exactly.
While I was cringing and unhappy about the Arya vs Sansa stuff from last season, I am rather enjoying Dany vs Sansa - because these two have reasons to clash. Both of their positions make sense for their characters and their objectives. This isn’t about pitting women against each other for once. The problem I’ve seen is within the fandom, not the writing. It’s Team Dany vs Team Sansa. It’s fandom being fandom. But really when u look at it, outside of the zombie apocalypse and the for-now-distant threat of Cersei, this internal power struggle is perhaps the most interesting development this season.
Personally I never cared much about the magic stuff in this show. Yeah dragons and direwolves and crows and resurrecting priestesses are cool. But for me the meat of the show has always been the politics.
Sansa : What about the North? Dany : Let it go…let it go…! I can imagine Emilia Clarke singing.

The new version of Victor Hugo’s tale has no familiar tunes to sweeten its tragedy. That feels very fitting now
By way of processing the shock of watching Notre Dame burn in Paris on Monday, I turned away from social media, where livestreams of the spreading flames were sadly plentiful, and turned on the latest adaptation of “Les Misérables,” currently airing on PBS’s “Masterpiece.”
This was mainly out of obligation, to be honest. The six-part series aired its first episode Sunday, the same night as the debut of a certain show starring zombies, dragons and queens. It is currently streaming online and via video on demand. Scheduling new installments of the “Masterpiece” epic as time-slot competition to the most popular show on the planet is pure folly; then again, something has to air at 9 p.m. Sundays. If you can’t serve up the flashiest show on television, might as well come in second.

Honestly, if Theon ends up dying I will just be dead inside because he’s had the BIGGEST character development throughout the seasons and I know it will be a beautiful parallel to have him die for the family that he realized he loves so much, but it will be such a huge blow. He’s become my favorite character as I witnessed the mistakes, damage, change, and growth and my heart will seriously break over the beauty of him dying for his family but also from the pain. I’ve loved this character for so many seasons and I became so invested. It says a lot about character development and especially an actor when you unconditionally love them despite all of the wrong they’ve done.
Could 8x02 be one of the best episodes of Game of Thrones ever?? More likely than some would think.
I don’t need big white walker battles or anything else, just sweet intimate (and well written) moments between characters we all know and love. Especially regarding the romantic interactions with Gendry and Arya, Theon and Sansa, Jamie and Brienne.
Jaime knighting Brienne was such a beautiful scene. Being a knight was something she dreamed about ever since she was a little girl, thinking that she would never get to be that. Yet here she is being knighted by someone she loves and respects. She deserves this so much.

Uniquely, Elizabeth of York was a daughter, sister, niece, wife and mother of English monarchs - Edward IV, Edward V, Richard III, Henry VII and Henry VIII, respectively.
Mary of York (11 August 1467 – 23 May 1482) was the second daughter of Edward IV of England and his queen consort Elizabeth Woodville. In May 1480, Mary was named a Lady of the Garter along with her younger sister Cecily. There were reportedly plans to marry her to John, King of Denmark, bit nothing came of it as Mary died aged 14 at Palace of Placentia in Greenwich on 23 May 1482.
Cecily of York, Viscountess Welles (20 March 1469 – 24 August 1507) was an English princess and the third, but eventual second surviving, daughter of Edward IV, King of England and his queen consort Elizabeth Woodville. In 1474, Cecily was betrothed to the son of James III of Scotland and In 1482 - to the Duke of Albany, who had recently allied himself to Cecily’s father, who he died before a marriage to Cecily could take place. Cecily lived at court with her family through the autumn and winter of 1485-1486. She served as her sister’s chief lady-in-waiting once Henry and Elizabeth married that January, and she attended upon her sister throughout the spring and summer while she was pregnant with her first child. When Prince Arthur was born in September 1486, Cecily carried the infant during his christening. At some point in December 1487, when Cecily was 18, she married John, Viscount Welles, Margaret Beaufort’s younger half-brother. After his passing some years later, Cecily married without royal permission a commoner Sir Thomas Kyme, for which her estates were confiscated by Henry. One hopes that this final marriage enabled Cecily to find happiness away from court, but the record of her fades before her death at age 38 in 1507
Anne of York (2 November 1475 – 23 November 1511) was born in the Palace of Westminster, London, as the fifth daughter of King Edward IV of England and his wife, Elizabeth Woodville. On 5 August 1480, King Edward IV signed a treaty agreement with Maximilian I, Archduke of Austria for Anne to marry his son Philip, duke of Burgundy, but the treaty was repudiated after Edward’s death and never took place. In 1484 Anne had been betrothed to Thomas Howard by Richard III. This was one decision that Henry seemed to agree with, and the two were married in 1495 when Anne was nineteen years old. She spent some time at court serving her sister as lady-in-waiting, but little else is known of Anne of York. She found favour under Henry VIII, as evinced by gifts of estates made to her, but she died shortly after his ascendancy, leaving no surviving children.
Catherine or Katherine of York (14 August 1479 – 15 November 1527) was the ninth child and sixth daughter of King Edward IV by his wife Elizabeth Woodville. Catherine was one of many English princesses considered for a Scottish match before she was married to William Courtenay. He spent significant amounts of time in the Tower for his traitorous words regarding Henry VII’s reign before his death in 1511, shortly following his reinstatement as Earl of Devon by Henry VIII. Catherine and her husband were present at court on various important occasions, including the wedding of Arthur Tudor and Katherine of Aragon. Catherine seems to be a favourite aunt of Henry VIII and was enjoying great favour and gifts from him occasionally visiting court. The Courtenay family held great power in the west of England. Catherine, who had taken a vow of chastity after William’s death outlived the remainder of the children of Edward IV dying in 1527.
Bridget of York (10 November 1480 – 1517) was an English princess, the tenth child and seventh daughter of Edward IV of England and Queen Elizabeth Woodville, born less than three years before her father’s death. Bridget entered the Dartford Priory in 1490 at the age of 10, though it is unknown if this was to honour a plan of her father’s, her own wishes, or due to other reasons. Evidence of Bridget’s study of Catholic saints exists, and she spent the remainder of her life as a nun. She died in 1517, never foreseeing the dissolution of the priory that would occur under her nephew, Henry VIII.

I get the feeling that before this is over he and Ceresi are going to get it on, at least once. He is her type after all. Why else cast an actor this attractive? He looks like Jamie does in the books.
I can imagine Ceresi sleeping with him, thinking it’ll placate him (a callback to the Euron scene in episode one), only for him to immediately reply:
Harry: “That was all well and good, but you still need to pay the gold cloaks our salary. Our real salary.”

I don’t really get the Jonsa/Jonerys fights because Sansa and Dany are such interesting characters to me while I find Jon so boring (that’s just my taste, nothing against people who like Jon). Why are people fighting over which of these women gets his boring ass lmao. I personally don’t like Jonerys because it feels like a boring arc for Dany - especially if she’s pregnant. And Sansa has grown so much into herself as a politically savvy ruler that it would make me sad to see her ending up as Jon’s Queen or w/ever. A lot of Jonsa fans keep comparing Jon and Sansa to Ned and Catelyn, which is fine I guess. But I don’t want Sansa to be Catelyn 2.0. I thought the whole point of the story was that they learnt to be better and smarter than their parents. Jon and Ygritte was really the only pairing that I liked for Jon, because she made up for his broodiness and made his character more relaxed and human to me. I’m not sharing my opinion just to hate on these pairings, I guess I wanted to know if there were other Sansa or Dany stans who felt this way.

So don’t get me wrong, I love me some Josh Radnor as Jed Foster, but… I’m going to have to go with Richard Armitage, because I have been attracted to him in everything I have ever seen him in. I mean ….
Speaking of which, I should really watch Hannibal, obviously for plot reasons and not for the above picture….
