13.05.25 —Working on a presentation rn that needs to be done by 8 this evening and it reminds me of what I don’t like about university. First, I have to do it alone, despite the fact that the prof said it would be groups of two to three. Just no one else was interested in the topic I volunteered for so now I'm the only one working alone while everyone else in the seminar will work with two partners. Prof could have done something about this but I guess they didn’t care. I also have to present it all alone later, which is never something I look forward to, but it becomes a whole lot worse when I have to do it all alone. Nice.
I have to read six whole papers in the span of a weekend when everyone else has to read just two. And I have to figure out an outline for the presentation completely by myself and then judge which aspects to allocate what amount of time to. Something I could use critical feedback on. And half assing it feels so bad when I'm the only one who worked on the presentation. Life could really be better at the moment.
mid sem week wasnt so fun 🚬📚🎧🕯️
Study/code sesh in Barnes and noble after work today. Still in search of a cozy dimly lit coffee shop to study in. Only bad thing about going to school online ;(
Day 3/100
After marking some papers, it is time to review what has been written. The first step to writing is to let it flow, no matter the quality, just keep writing so you have a proper draft to work with afterwards. I am currently reworking about 25 pages written in the past few weeks and it is much easier to do than to face a blank page.

Hello please reblog this if you’re okay with people sending you random asks to get to know you better
I set up my grad school accounts today!! I also compiled a reading list that I organized on Zotero; the goal is to read, annotate, and start drafting a literature review for my first set of grant proposals due in early September.
I'm thrilled to be starting my PhD, and to work with the people who have inspired me. I've also missed being a student

Last night, I had another crashout and realized I'm not at all prepared to test for my discrete math course. my foundation in math is not up to college level and it really shows. i'm going to divert and work on other courses and do tutoring for the rest of the term until i'm ready to take the final for discrete math again (and actually pass).
the relief i felt getting off the call with my advisor was insane. i'm starting on a critical thinking and reason course today so stay tuned for more complaining about that. i feel like a whole human again this is great.
