Imagine if cats were to occupy theaters like people, and they all got absolutely into the movies they watched, like this kid. I'd go to the theater just to stand in the lobby or outside, for a chance to see a stampede of cats unfold. It'd be better than the movie, I feel.

Random thought: do any of you folks share my sneaking suspicion that bugs that alight on your phone or computer screen are actually thrill seekers and not idiotic light fanatics? That they're just hoping for you to blast them with a rush of air from your mouth or hand, to shoo them away, so that they go on the baddest ass flight of their lives?

Just a random thought...

Labels. Labels. Labels.

Seems like this crowd is more interested in anger, shite talking, and lathering themselves and others into a nasty, frothy frenzy over "oppression," than they are in just being nice humans.

Folks, drop the labels and begin being genuine, caring, and loving humans. Any other than that and you're just showing you have pride (pun intended) in hateful things.

reminder that pride month includes bisexual and asexual people.

Nah, just bisexuals.

To the burgeoning artist responsible for these images:

Practice makes perfect. That is why I love this post. You are active in your art, not just talking about it. So practice every day, and, along the way, I think you just might inspire others. Well done!

So...

I've decided to emulate the scores of socially upright people on this site and declare that o want other people to sustain my hedonism and pay my bills. I am vehemently casting aside all semblance of personal responsibility for my life and wholly expect everyone else to foot my bills. I will further promise to draw and weakly color anemic art that sorta, kinda addresses members of my audience's plights, but only if you give me that which I'm unwilling to genuinely earn through work and perseverance. C'mon, support a leech...

I love that this art lover chronicles art history, thusly sharing her or his knowledge and appreciation of art, artists, and the varying degrees of nuance, subtlety and life that art and its creators breathe in to the world. And the anecdotal send-up for this entry made me smile because it let me know that this contributor has passion for art and deliberately (and adroitly, I might add) sought out little known information about Hopper's benchmark masterpiece. Well done!

(So says a ridiculous artist and kook named Wes ...as well as a thousand other names...)

June 7th, 1942: Edward Hopper completes his best known painting, the seminal Nighthawks. When asked by a Chicago Tribute reporter about the philosophical meaning behind the diner having no clearly visible exits Hopper responded, “Shit. Fuck. I did it again. Goddamnit. Fuck. Not again. I did it again. Shit.” and slammed his hat on his leg.

Stunningly beautiful, and a tribute to the glory of nature and God's design are mosses. What a lovely concept: moss lawns. I think I feel a new botanical obsession stealing upon me...

Moss Lawns?!

Okay so we all agree, lawns suck are outdated and useless relics introduced by the French Monarchy to flex on everyone else, but have we considered:

Moss Lawns 😄

Moss Lawns?!
Moss Lawns?!

Benefits:

Massively photosynthetic- produce loads of oxygen

Doesn’t require fertilising- ever! Mosses actually prefer low nutrient soil!

Doesn’t require mowing! Mosses are non vascular so they never grow tall enough to need mowing

Low maintainance- see above

Improving the air quality around you- mosses can metabolise and absorb a variety of airborn pollutants!

Massively improving your home’s Cottagecore and fairytale vibes, I mean look at it it’s beautiful

Looking online I’ve learned that this is a thing! And it’s actually been popular in Japan for hundreds of years!

That makes me really happy actually because if you know me you’ll know I love moss, not only is it cool af but 12 square metres of moss lawn can apparently absorb as much carbon as 275 mature trees. Stunning and brave.

As we all know it’s much easier to work with nature than against it, we’re all busy and tired and maybe… maybe just let the moss have this one? It’s beautiful.

Been away for a few days/nights, sorting out the grain from the chaff. And by God's grace and love, I've been successful...

And just when I thought the gifts couldn't get richer, I found a poem come flowing out tonight. It may read as a sadness, but read deeper, because there's love and the anticipation of a love that holds the salvation one man, this man, sought. That salvation was delivered to me by Providence, and this poem marks the time it took me to come to this revelation...

1:

Red cirrus swipes against blue canvas

The colors should grasp my voice and send it heavenward, but I can't... just can't

Birds alight like dreams upon my head, shoulders

They wheedle me for a song to join theirs...

But I can't... just can't...

A child laughs and invites me into her otherwise private joke at the ridiculous world of ridiculous grown-ups...

I smile, and, for that briefest of explosions from the canyons of my yesterdays, I want to join her. Join her and force my wild laughter to Heaven's gate... but I can't... just can't...

A friend died today, or maybe a century ago, but it feels like every second he's there, then not...

And before tears can own me, I remember his jokes about living, dying, soaring, searing and God, and I want to laugh... but I can't... just can't...

I sit on the quiet bench among heavy skies, and I know, now, the reason for my can'ts...

I can't until there's you to show me I can...

Postscript:

God gave me HER, as undeserving as I was for all my years, and she shines a light dipped in God's lustrous Waters, a light that guides me in Stygian nights and stormswept days. And I decry my unending gratitude for God's gift of her. Amen.

I heard/read it again: grunge...

I'm perplexed by that most meager of words that has been usurped by a crowd of folks that has little to no actual experience in getting grungy. Let's set the record straight: Grunge means you've been exposed to the dust of third world, real dirt. Not glitter, not metaphor, not a slight dusting of soil. Real dirt, real grungy shite, genuine grime. Grunge is the stuff of daily, ugly, exhausting toil and hardship. Life for the grungy is a battle, a war waged in solitude, against a world bent on breaking its targets. So if you don designer clothes; if you drop piles of money in a trendy coffee bauhaus; if you overuse the words 'literally' or 'legitimately' (let's just forget that you have no concept of usage and acceptable vernacular, if you do...); and if you've never gone to bed hungry, cold and dirty, and clinging to slim hope that tomorrow will be better than all your yesterdays, well then you have no idea what grunge is. True grunge, and the music and atmosphere it spawned, is a soulful thing, brought to life by people whose only refuge in the world was hard-bitten poetry transmuted into lyrical rollercoasters, grinding guitars and bone-jarring percussion. Kurt, Eddie, Chris... they were the Purveyors of Grunge. They bled and breathed against the grain, exhaling oxygen for the world to inhale, and in doing so, taught most of us to fucking care about those who usually went unnoticed, were spent up by an otherwise uncaring world. They were celestial in their grasp of God, humans, and struggle, and their starshine was earned and never contrived... unlike those who try to usurp the word 'grunge' to peddle their shite, their plastic baubles, their angled politics.

Note: if you managed to wade through this monologue but have not even an inkling of meaning in this prose, then I submit the notion that you need to step back and reassess just what the fuck you aim to achieve by casting about the term 'grunge'...

For the woman I love and hold above all other people and objects: In case I never said it, I hold you as my own personal pantheon of Goddesses all encapsulated in one being. You're my Minerva (for the wisdom you've imparted to me countless times); my Athena (for your many quiet displays of fearlessness when others would have retreated, and for unveiling poetry of silent words) ; my Persephone (when you walked compassionately among the dying); my Psyche (for your unerring way of knowing my mind's brooding, and for leading me away from it); my Aphrodite (for showing me beauty in the simplest things; revealing the handsomeness I possess; challenging my rage, self-hatred, ugliness and violence with a calming touch, vocal spells to quell the tide of destruction, beauty in motion, and lessons in creativity); my Demeter (you always know how to make things grow, from our children to my gnarled, twisted heart); my Alchelois (who outshines the sun and the moon, owning all of my skies); my Astraea (whose footsteps guide me safely across dark skies); my Eris (who wins the war through love and force of soul); my Hestia (who has shown me both hearth and home, in all their incarnations); my Thalia (your wit disarms me); my Gaia (for being a force of nature); my Hebe (for breathing life and vitality into this old salted lost soul); my Kotys (for the nights you've driven me wild and shown me pleasures words cannot describe); and my Iris (whose spectrum of colors shines bright against the darkness of my worst days and promises better things through hope and love).

I would build a shrine for you, but I fear my hands would not do you justice. So I will simply choose each place in which I dwell or linger as a temple of You, and, upon bend knee, I will adore you, always...

I love when kids reach out with the full extent of their creativity. And this girl is brimming with brilliance in my estimation. I hope she keeps that light burning for decades to come.

This little girl recreated iconic album covers for Black History Month and she seriously NAILED it!

Meet six-year-old Abigail. A few months ago, she and her mom Miriame decided they’d do something special to mark this year’s Black History Month.

The mother-daughter duo ultimately teamed up with photographer Ernie Michael Hall and graphic artist Glen Thomas to recreate seven iconic album covers. And the results are absolutely stunning and spot-on!

“I wanted to pay homage to some awesome singers,” Miriame told BuzzFeed via email. “I basically picked artists I grew up listening to in my childhood and as a young adult. I wanted to show my daughter some of the singers I’ve loved throughout the years.”

Everything is perfect about these images, from the way Abby captures the unique essence of each artist to the small styling and design details, like the clever incorporation of Abby’s name throughout each album title.

The ambitious project took one month to complete, which wasn’t an issue for the young model. “She loves taking pictures, acting, and dancing and loves dressing up and getting into character,” Miriame said.

Miriame also used this project as an opportunity to present Abby with more diverse representations of black women. “Young black children are aware of the current racial climate in the US because it’s always in the media,” she explained. “I hope we ensure that our children have pride and self-love and love the color of their skin and the texture of their hair.”

When asked whether she had any additional comments, Miriame simply stated: “Black girls rock.” There you have it!

Someone asked me today who some of my favorite writers were, and after a bit of reflection I responded: my partner of 16 years. My conversational counterpart raised an eyebrow, then asked, "Oh. Well what has she written?" My response: "She wrote two beautiful souls, our children, into being, and has assured me of a spectacular happy ending." Yes, she's definitely my favorite author...
