The future was within reach; she would, and will, soon take back the rest of her words, her reputation, her name. Maybe the world would see her, maybe it wouldn’t.
~I've read the NYT article at least five times now and it's still giving~
I can’t imagine not viewing this album through a queer lens
I don’t think the timing of the Emily/Taylor related announcement is coincidental
The most obvious reasoning for this being shared now is to draw parallels between Emily and Taylor as poets
However, I wonder if we might receive a song that Taylor wrote from “Emily’s perspective” on TTPD
Whether she is conscious of it or not, Ms. Swift signals to queer people — in the language we use to communicate with one another — that she has some affinity for queer identity. There are some queer people who would say that through this sort of signaling, she has already come out, at least to us.

What I’ve learned in the past year on my journey into the swiftie universe is that gaylors are so much nicer and intelligent than swifties/hetlors. I have not seen swifties/hetlors do lyrical analysis the way gaylors do. I don’t see them connecting historical figures and nods in her work the way gaylors do. Like gaylors will point out all of the lgbt history that Taylor has used/put into her work and say how much of a genius she is and swifties will attack the gaylors and say “well she didn’t know that’s what it meant” or “oh no that’s not the real meaning” when there is literally no other meaning than the lgbt one. The way I see it is, I’ve seen gaylors appreciate her art and work and her lyrics (because Taylor wants us to read the lyrics) and the swifties just don’t as much. Also the way that swifties/hetlors are about the “male muses” compared to how gaylors are about “female/male muses) is also vastly different. Ive noticed that the swifties see her as some character and not an actual human. I don’t feel comfortable or welcome in swifties spaces whereas gaylor spaces have made me feel at least semi welcome (only semi because I don’t ever feel 100% welcome in any space I try to be in) Overall I’m here for Taylor Swift and her music because it has brought so much joy to me personally in the last year. This has been one of the craziest and best rides I’ve been on.
Which was more culturally significant... the renaissance or Taylor singing Dress? 🔥💜
Okay hear me out
connecting the dots...
This is admissible as evidence, as the chairman published the lyrics herself and I'm free to interpret and dissect as I wish. This song would make 99% more sense if the pronoun was "her"
"Did you take all my old clothes? Just to leave me here naked and alone"
there's no manly-man-boy who would be nicking her clothes, that does happen in a wlw relationship tho.
"They'll say I'm nuts if I talk about the existence of you"
no reason to call her crazy about a guy, but you sure can get called crazy for talking about fancying a woman
"Like I lost my twin"
...
"I'll build you a fort on some planet Where they can all understand it"
why would people not understand a relationship with a bloke? there would be a lot of people who didn't "understand" if it was a woman
"How dare you think it's romantic Leaving me safe and stranded"
ending a relationship on the grounds that "it's not safe for you for us to date right now" is the least heterosexual thing I've ever heard.
something i will never shut the fuck up about is that taylor swift gave us "shade never made anybody less gay" as a fucking easter egg MV visual during the FIRST single of lover era, a song titled "ME!" that includes the lyrics "like a rainbow with all of its colors, babydoll when it comes to a lover, i promise that you'll never find another like ME!" by putting herself in a dress of dripping rainbow paint. i will never fucking let this go. what the fuck do hetlors think was going through taylor's head? how do yall straightwash this behavior.
I think it’s interesting that she started out this album out by admitting she’s an alcoholic (I know she says “I was a functioning alcoholic” as if she isn’t anymore but once you cross that line of becoming an alcoholic you are never not one, you will always be even if you don’t drink, at that point you become a recovering alcoholic and I know this because I grew up in AA rooms because my father was an alcoholic while he was alive) and how at every football game she was at you could see a drink in her hand or some type of alcohol being sat beside her.. it makes me think that what she didn’t want was to be at those games, but she had to so she was drinking to deal with it.
