sometimes i think about how bodies want to be sweaty & smelly & hairy & oily, & about how some of our daily routines try to achieve the opposite.
this blog is starting to feel a bit like a new sketchbook - the first few posts (pages) are a little intimidating. i decided to make something that not only takes up a little space, but can go beyond this post. inspired by springtime & spotting rabbits from the various train journeys i took at the weekend, here's a tiled background you can use. choose small, medium or large depending on your preferred rabbit-size.

my best friend asked if i'd create a cycling certificate for her. i came up with this perpetual bike design, which i then made it into a tiled pattern. you can use it, if you'd like. (for personal use only, please. remember to download rather than hotlink.)
Wondering what the moon's up to next year? This Lunar Calendar I designed for Tiny Showcase has got you covered. $25 for 366 moons (leap year!) in a five colour screen-print.
Order before Thursday 26 November if you want one in time for gift-giving.
providing i've not completely misjudged time-zones, this queued post should be appearing in your blog-roll whilst i celebrate the wedding of two friends in new zealand. i created a small edition of lino prints that they could give out to guests, created just a few days before we had to leave to catch our flight. it's been a few years since i've made a successful lino-cut so i'm pretty pleased that it worked out. happy wedding times, dave & jenni!
hello sun! the weather is treating us well on the east coast of scotland today & it inspired me to try making some iced tea for the first time this morning. boiled the kettle, steeped the tea, put in some lemon then left it to cool whilst we went & lazed in the park for a couple of hours. added a little sugar & some ice cubes when we got home & there you have it. easy, cheap & a lot healthier than bottled stuff.
get 20% off your order in my etsy shop until fri 20 january with coupon code HELLO2012. there's prints, cards, notebooks, zines & more - i'll be adding to this over the next few months, but for now you can get a nifty deal on current stock.
lately this blog has mostly been about drawing & galavanting around (both good things!), so here's a post about something different; home.
as previously mentioned, we've had a bit of an unplanned but much needed spring clean recently. as a result, our dwellings are clutter-free in a way they've never been before. lots of things were thrown out or donated to charity shops, our total number of art school portfolios lying around went from five to one (finally! so much recycling!) & we bought some new furniture. our bedroom is pretty much "finished" (apart from the fact that the contents of our wardrobe/drawers are currently piled up on the dining room table), so i thought i'd capture it during yesterday's fine spring afternoon.
i've long been meaning to adhere to the william morris quote 'have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful' &, for once, i feel like we're kind of there.
if there had been an award for most impractical costume at the halloween party i went to, i'd undoubtably have won.
